  • CNC Aluminium M-LOK handguard
  • G&G G2 Gearbox with ETU pre-installed
  • 11.1V LiPo ready - EPIC trigger response!

If you're in search of a lightweight and high performance platform with the AR-9 aesthetic, the G&G ARP9 2.0 Enhanced Combat Machine AEG can't have escaped your scrutiny! This is the second generation of G&G's superb ARP9 platform, boasting several internal refinements for even more performance and an external overhaul including the G&G GOS-V9 PDW stock and a new CNC aluminium M-LOK handguard.

We think this is the best-looking ARP9 variant yet but also offers more attachment interfaces thanks to its longer handguard and even better results downrange than its still respectable older sibling. Internal improvements include a new generation of ETU and MOSFET made more efficient and compact than ever before, a further reinforced gearbox shell, a redesigned bevel gear to reduce heat build-up and a double O-ring nozzle to enhance air seal qualities. Also present is G&G's latest rotary HOP-up unit, bringing the ARP9 into line with modern Airsoft releases, offering improved setting retention and finer adjustment increments.

The original ARP9 was famously the winner of the Airsoft Players Choice Awards for best AEG several years on the trot and in our assessment, the second generation is even better. If you're after a lightning-fast CQB platform which handles like a dream and gives the enemy team nightmares, the G&G ARP9 2.0 Enhanced Combat Machine AEG is what you need!

Description

If you've heard about the Airsoft legend that is the ARP9, you'll want to check this out! The G&G Armament ARP9 2.0 is the next step up from the original object of every Airsofters fear, boasting the G&G GOS-V9 PDW stock, refined internals for even more performance and a longer front end with more attachment options than ever before.

The original ARP9 was very much the tool of the CQB specialist with its ultra-short front end and barrel. The 2.0 features a slightly longer 6.5-inch outer barrel paired with a 7-inch rail system, giving you an ARP option which is longer than the original for better performance at range but still short enough to compete with other compact SMGs in the tight confines of a CQB site. For skirmishers who move fast and like an AEG as agile as they are, you can't ask for much better than the G&G ARP9 2.0!

Starting at the front, we can find the sound-amplifying muzzle device mounted to the 14mm CCW male barrel threading, giving the ARP9 2.0 a booming muzzle report to match the original and the legendary G&G Firehawk. The sound amp is constructed from polymer and is a big part of what gives the ARP9 2.0 its menacing front-end looks, though it can be replaced with a muzzle device of your choice thanks to its common 14mm CCW male threading, including suppressors for the sneaky skirmishers and tracers for CQB specialists.

The outer barrel is constructed from alloy, measuring 6.5 inches in length, meaning the sound amp sits slightly recessed inside the M-LOK handguard. If you're mounting a suppressor and don't want to use a barrel extension, 30mm diameter suppressors are ideal. The handguard itself is constructed from aluminium using CNC machining, providing ultra-low weight and a flawless finish across the vent ports and attachment interfaces.

M-LOK slots are present at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions, with a QD sling socket on either side and a 20mm Picatinny rail running along the top. At the front, we are treated to a pre-installed hand stop mounted to the lower M-LOK slots, designed to prevent your hand from going past the handguard and getting shot accidentally. The hand stop can easily be removed and repositioned to wherever you see fit and is ideally paired with a vertical foregrip for enhanced handling in CQB scenarios. On each side of the handguard, we can take note of the laser-engraved M-LOK logo, guaranteeing that this handguard is perfectly in-spec.

The controls of the ARP9 2.0 will be familiar to most as they have a lot in common with the prolific M4/AR-15 platform. The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip on the left side, sitting directly beneath the shooter's thumb for fast access from a firing grip. An enlarged design with deep grooves to ensure you can operate it easily, this fire selector is superbly designed, allowing for fast mode changes even in poor weather conditions or when pumped with adrenaline. Each position is denoted with stylish but discrete 3D bullet pictograms and the selector has a 90-degree throw between each mode. Similarly to an M4/AR15 platform, the fire selector provides 3 positions; safe, semi-automatic, and fully automatic with the option to program the selector for bust mode via the pre-installed G2 MOSFET.

The mock bolt release can be found in the centre of the left side of the receiver and is a separate piece for added realism, but provides no function. The magazine release of the ARP9 is located on the bottom of the receiver, forward of the trigger guard, and is enlarged, and accessible from either side - a handy feature for left-handed users. The receiver itself follows the design aesthetic of the G&G CG series, with modern angular styling and flared magazine well for improved reload speed. The magazine well also features gripping surfaces moulded into its front face, providing an area to hold the ARP9 when shooting in unconventional positions.

The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver, an ambidextrous design similar to popular Raptor charging handles. Pulling the charging handle back provides access to the Rotary HOP-up unit, popping open the dust cover on the right side and allowing access through the ejection port. The rotary unit style is the best current design for the M4/AR-15 platform and has the benefit of holding its setting more effectively under the vibration of rapid fire, and can also be adjusted in finer increments for easier tuning with a variety of ammo weights.

Running along the top of the receiver, we are treated to a 20mm Picatinny rail which meets the handguard rail seamlessly, giving you plenty of space to mount your choice of optical sight. Pre-installed on the rail you'll find a set of flip-up aperture iron sights which can be flipped up by hand and are adjustable for both windage and elevation. Adjustments are applied via the dial in the centre of the front sight and on the right side of the rear sight. If you run a red dot sight or scope, you have the option or removing the sights to save weight and rail space or keeping them flipped down, ready for emergency use.

At the bottom of the receiver, we come to the pistol grip which is the latest design for G&G AEGs; a perfect marriage of ergonomics and traction. Grippy crackle textured panels are present on the front and rear and the transition between the grip and receiver is bevelled to reduce hot spots which can cause hand fatigue over long-duration operations. The trigger guard is enlarged and shaped similarly to real steel KAC trigger guards, offering a built-in finger ledge to rest your trigger finger against when it's not doing its usual job.

As we reach the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel sling plate which offers a loop protruding from either side, great for left or right-handed shooters. The plate's steel construction means it will never fail under normal use and its placement makes it ideal for single-point slings. The advantage of this sling plate when compared to the standard "CQD" style plate is that its elevated sling points won't interfere with handling and it keeps your sling well clear of the controls of the platform.

The GOS V9 PDW stock is G&G's latest iteration of compact stock, offering several features which simply aren't present in other stock systems. The GOS V9 is a multi-position stock but requires that you set your preferred stock length by removing the butt plate and stock bars and moving the screws on either side of the stock bars to your position of choice. To remove the butt plate you will need to press the button at the toe of the stock to unlock it, then rotate the rotary dial in the "open" direction indicated on the dial itself, after which you can lift the stock locking mech surrounding the adjustment button. With the locking mech clear of the stock bars you can then slide the butt plate off to the rear.

With the butt plate and stock bars removed you will see 5 threaded holes in each of the stock bars, with a grub screw set into the middle position of each. Removing these screws and reinserting them in any of the holes adjusts the pre-set of the stock to that particular length, and when reinstalled allows you to quickly deploy the stock by simply pressing the button at the toe of the stock and pulling it out where it will lock into your pre-set position. This means if you need to deploy your stock quickly it can easily be set to your preferred length with no messing around, just a simple press of a button and the stock can only lock into the length you set it. To collapse the stock again you will need to press the button on the bottom of the stock tube, near where it meets the receiver.

The stock also contains the battery compartment of the ARP9 2.0, and this can be accessed by removing the butt plate and stock bars as described above. With your butt plate and stock bars removed you can remove the end of the buffer tube by pressing the button on the underside of the cylindrical section and removing it from the tube. Inside you will find a mini-Tamiya battery connector to which you mount your battery of choice. Being a G&G G2 gearbox and ETU system, the ARP9 2.0 requires an 11.1V battery to function, and we recommend an 11.1V 900mAh LiPo Stick battery for the best combination of an easy fit and incredible 11.1V performance.

Inside the ARP9 2.0, we are treated to one of the best mass-produced, out-of-the-box internal setups in the entire industry, the G&G G2 Gearbox with the G&G ETU/MOSFET. These internals build upon the G2 system inside the incredible CQB dominating original ARP-9 and ARP-556 and the marmite in looks but butter in performance SSG-1, offering a more compact and reliable MOSGET and enhanced compression components. The ETU/MOSFET allows you to program the fire controls for burst mode using a simple combination of trigger presses and fire selector movements, offering you a bit more 'smart' functionality than the average AEG and also protects your battery from damage via its low voltage cutoff function.

The G2 system features 8mm brass bushings to provide a smooth, unlaboured gearbox sound with reduced friction internally to prolong the life of the gears, together with G&G's other high quality gearbox internals which have given them their superb reputation amongst performance-oriented Airsofters. To provide the stunning speed that G&G G2-equipped AEGs are known for, the G&G 25,000 RPM high-speed motor makes an appearance, to the dismay of those who have to face down with the ARP9 2.0 on the field!

Whether you're a CQB specialist or a fast-moving outdoor skirmisher, the G&G ARP9 2.0 will be an asset to you. With a robust yet lightweight build, reliable, high-performance internals and the option to run burst mode when you fancy a change, the ARP9 2.0 Enhanced Combat Machine AEG takes the original ARP9's pedigree to the next level!
