Description
The VM9 Osiris from Vorsk is the latest pistol from Vorsk's line of unique full metal GBB pistols, now in the form of a B9 platform pistol. This classic design has a very recognisable shape, appearing in the hands of Solid Snake, the US Army, John Mclain and many other real and fictional heroes. The VM9 is a replica of an experimental upgraded B9, known as the "Dolphin", developed by a small US company under a special contract for the US Navy. Intended to solve issues with the original pistol resulting from its lightweight and open slide, the new slide design added reinforcement around the known weak points and filled in the port above the barrel which was known to be a source of dirt ingress. Contrary to popular belief, the pistol was never officially called the Dolphin, but it was known as the "Phrobis Navy slide", which gained the name Dolphin as the Phrobis company logo was shaped like a dolphin. The Navy slide proved itself to be very robust and reliable when tested in the hands of US Navy SEALs, but never went into production for political reasons.
Starting at the tip of the outer barrel we can find 12mm female threads, allowing a suppressor or tracer unit to be added with the Raven thread adapter. It's always nice to have this facility, especially as tracer units increase in popularity. Saves you the trouble of having to buy and install a threaded outer barrel!
The alloy outer barrel is no longer visible all the way to the chamber like other B9 pistols, due to the Osiris' strengthened slide, which perfectly matches the original Phrobis Navy slide. The new slide profile matches the overall shape of the B9 and makes the Osiris look like a B9 that hits the gym regularly. The rear serrations of the standard B9 have been replaced with straight serrations which are inset into the slide behind the reinforced ejection port area, providing an extremely effective gripping surface which is vastly superior to most serrations when it comes to reliably cocking the pistol when needed. This serration design is straight out of the original Dolphin pistol, and is so effective that simply placing your thumb on the serrations and pulling rearwards will cock the slide.
The sights of the VM9 Osiris are high vis white dot iron sights, providing a simple and easy to align sighting system which can be operated at speed with some practice. The sights can be found atop the slide, and are standard combat style non-adjustable sights for added rigidity.
At the rear of the slide, we can find the pistol's ambidextrous decocking/safety lever, which can be operated when the action is cocked. When the pistol is ready to fire, the safety will sit horizontally, revealing a red enamel dot to indicate that the pistol is hot. With the action cocked, rotating the safety catch down will decock the hammer and disconnect the safety. The VM9 can be carried in this condition, and immediately fired when the safety is disengaged thanks to its double-action/single-action trigger. The first shot will have a long trigger pull, and the following shots will be from a much shorter trigger pull for fast follow up shots. At the rear of the frame, we can see the hammer of the pistol, which is a low profile design. This hammer is not designed to be manipulated with the thumb due to the VM9 being a double-action trigger pull, but you still can cock the hammer manually to engage the single-action trigger if you choose. Another hidden perk of choosing the VM9 Osiris over other B9 pistols is its full-auto fire mode, available when the safety/decocking lever is set to half way between safe and semi-auto. This gives the VM9 a nice party trick, which is unlikely to be as useful as semi-auto when skirmishing but nonetheless is a very cool feature. The safety/decocking lever on the right side of the pistol is a low profile design, intended to reduce the chances that the safety will be moved inadvertently which is very important in a full-auto capable pistol.
Moving down to the frame, we can see that the VM9 has a 20mm Picatinny frame rail, allowing laser aiming modules and weapon mounted flashlights to be added whenever the mission suits it. This rail works well with the flat faced trigger guard to provide an ideal mounting platform for a tactical flashlight (the Nuprol NX200 looks great on this!). The controls are found on the left side of the pistol, ideally set up for a right handed user but useable by a lefty with some practice. The magazine release is a simple button type, present where the trigger guard meets the frame and providing a familiar and instinctive magazine release for anyone who has used practically any American pistol out there. The slide release can be found just above and features an extended textured section to ensure it is within reach of the shooter's thumb, and that poor weather conditions do not affect how quickly the pistol can be operated.
Ahead of the slide release, we can see the disassembly catch, which can be used to remove the slide of the pistol for lubrication, and for adjustment of the VM9's HOP-up unit. To release the slide, first, cock the pistol, and remove the magazine. Next, press in on the textured button just below the disassembly catch on the right side, and rotate the disassembly catch on the left side downwards, after which the slide will come off. The gear HOP adjuster can be found on the bottom of the outer barrel.
The grip panels of the VM9 feature diamond checkering which works together with the texture on the front and back straps to ensure a perfect grip. At the bottom of the grip, we are treated to a lanyard loop, which can accept any pistol lanyard and prevent the pistol from hitting the floor if it takes a tumble from your holster. The trigger guard of the VM9 is an enlarged design, ideal for use with gloves. The guard also features a flat front face which can serve as a secondary point of control for your support hand, facilitating modern shooting positions such as the "European grip". Such is the benefit of having a modernised classic design; you get all the classic ultra recognisable looks with modern ergonomic features to keep you ahead when skirmishing!
Performance-wise, the VM9 sports a 6.03mm tight bore inner barrel and adjustable HOP, providing ample range and accuracy for a sidearm and has an awesome immersive firing experience with its full metal slide and realistic operation. The full-auto mode is a bit more of a gimmick, but can still be very effective for keeping heads down in a sticky situation. So, if you are looking for a sidearm that will stand out, and will definitely have other skirmishers asking "what slide is that?" then the VM9 Osiris should fit the need!

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
