VORSK EU17 Solid Slide GBB Pistol; Metallic Edition

Yet another addition to the VORSK EU series line, the EU17 Solid Slide Metallic Edition follows the standard VORSK formula of a full metal GBB pistol absolutely covered with pre-upgraded external parts along with a steel slide lock and 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel to sweeten the deal.

This is the Metallic Edition, boasting a VCRA-compliant metallic finish in your choice of Red, Purple or VORSK's unique V-Blue. This means you don't need UKARA to rock this pistol, and it neatly avoids the mundane two-tone blue finish of most pre-two tones, instead opting for a stylish, some might say garish finish ideal for the skirmisher who isn't afraid to stand out!

Starting at the front we can find VORSK's uniquely styled thread protector concealing the 14mm CCW male threads of the thread adapter installed at the tip of the barrel. The thread adapter comes pre-installed and looks fantastic, really adding to the overall custom style of the pistol but can be removed if you prefer a more discreet look as it mounts to the barrel's internal 12mm CW threads.

Being the Metallic Edition, the thread protector and adapter of this EU18 are both finished in a metallic colour of your choice, adding a nice bit of contrast to the design and pairing perfectly with the metallic slide and magazine well. The 14mm CCW thread adapter allows tracers and suppressors to be mounted right away, so if your loadout requires a tracer unit or suppressor you don't need to buy any additional parts.

The outer barrel itself is constructed from alloy and is spiral fluted, visible when the slide is cycling and through the EU18 style slide port on the top front of the slide. The barrel is also ported with four compensator cuts visible through the slide port. The spiral fluting is a bit of a VORSK hallmark and features on many of its EU series GBB pistols, setting them apart from other more pedestrian EU series designs and adding to the overall customised style.

The slide itself follows the standard EU series format, with open iron sights installed at the front and rear and the fire selector switch on the rear left of the slide. The serrations make the EU17 Solid Slide Metallic Edition easier to cock in wet weather, providing ample grip whether you prefer to rack the pistol from the front or the rear.

The pre-installed iron sights are raised "suppressor height" light-enhancing iron sights with high visibility green inserts, allowing you to see over a tracer unit or suppressor and still get a clean sight picture, even in low-light CQB scenarios. These sights can present problems when using standard EU series retention holsters but thankfully the EU17 Solid Slide Metallic Edition fits nicely in the NUPROL LEGION Universal Holster.

Included in the box you will also find a set of standard EU-series low-profile white dot and U iron sights which will need to be installed if you find the pre-installed raised iron sights are too large for your holster. Also present at the rear of the slide, just in front of the rear iron sight is a cut-out for VORSK's BDS red dot sight and mounting plate, further adding to the custom stylings of the pistol and giving you the opportunity to upgrade your sighting system in the future.

The frame is a hybrid Gen.3/4 style frame with a whole host of upgrades and enhancements to suit the pistol's competition-style aesthetic. The grip is finger-ridged like a Gen.3 but is moulded with imitation stippling, fitting in well with conventions in real steel competition pistols and providing extra grip and comfort whether you wear gloves in game or not. The magazine release is located on the left side of the grip and is a Gen.4 style enlarged magazine release with texture on the surface, giving you reliable reloads with a mag release which is easy to reach, even for those with smaller hands.

Just above the magazine release, we can find the slide lock/release lever which is a low-profile Gen.4 style release constructed from steel to maintain reliable slide locking in the long term. Both the slide lock and magazine release sport a metallic finish, matching that of the slide, magazine well flare and thread adapter, providing the tidy look of a completed piece.

The disassembly levers are located on both sides of the pistol, on the frame, just above the trigger guard and take the form of a pair of textured tabs which need to be pulled down to remove the slide. The adjustable HOP-up dial is located on the bottom of the outer barrel and can be accessed when the slide is removed. To remove the slide and field strip the EU17 Metallic Edition you will need to remove the magazine and rack the slide, then pull and hold both disassembly levers down and push the slide forward and off the frame to the front. The HOP-up allows you to tune the pistol for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest trajectory possible.

At the base of the grip, you will find an aluminium extension appropriately finished in metallics to match the overall aesthetic of the EU17 Metallic Edition. This is known as a flared magazine well or magazine well extension and is often featured on competition-optimised pistols to help guide the magazine into the mag well cleanly when you are reloading under pressure. Not only does this part contribute immensely to the slick, high speed aesthetic but it allows for easier "eyes up" reloads by reducing the chance you will miss the magazine well and waste precious seconds when time is of the essence.

As with most Gen.4 EU series pistols, the EU17 Solid Slide Metallic Edition comes with two replacement back straps which can be installed into the rear of the grip to alter the size to fit your hands perfectly. The back straps are also textured, matching the look of the grip itself and are easy to install, requiring the pin in the magazine well flare and the pin on the rear of the grip to be removed before your choice of back strap can be installed and the pins replaced.

The trigger is the classic EU-series curved two-stage safety trigger, meaning the white central blade needs to be pressed in before the trigger can be operated. The trigger guard matches the standard EU-series design, with a recurved front face intended to provide additional downforce to control recoil when used with the "European grip" and texture to keep the pistol firmly in your grasp during strings of rapid fire.

Above the trigger guard on either side, we can find textured panels added by VORSK to provide a comfortable and grippy index point on which you can rest your trigger finger between shots, encouraging proper trigger discipline and fitting in well with the customised competition pistol styling. Ahead of the trigger guard, we have the standard EU style 20mm Picatinny frame rail, ready for a tactical flashlight or aiming laser if you like to run your pistol all dressed up. In the centre of the frame rail, there is also a hidden trigger lock safety disguised as a serial number plate; pulling this rearward will lock the trigger to add an extra level of security when the pistol is being stored or transported.

Giving us more pre-upgrades than we really deserve at this price, the EU17 Solid Slide Metallic Edition is also equipped with a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel to provide improved accuracy potential and a slight raise in FPS as a result of improved gas efficiency gained from the tighter bore. The slide lock/release lever is also constructed from steel, providing the strength to keep this essential control fully functional for many years to come.
