- GBB SMG - Realism and recoil!
- Officially licenced by Beretta - Trademarks!
If you put realism above all and appreciate an immersive firing experience, the Umarex BERETTA PMX will be an asset to your arsenal. This unique SMG was only revealed in the real steel world a handful of years ago and is derived from the iconic Beretta M12 SMG but redressed for 21st-century combat.
The PMX boasts ambidextrous controls across the design, a high density polymer upper and lower receiver with an aluminium sub-receiver, ambidextrous steel sling points and the front and rear and a rock solid side folding stock which combines the best aspects of other folding stock designs. The highlight of the PMX is its gas blowback action, providing immersive recoil with each shot and a 100% realistic manual of arms, meaning racking the charging handle before the first shot and hitting the bolt catch after a satisfying reload. If you love the challenge of working a GBBR under pressure and appreciate snappy and violent recoil, you'll love the Umarex BERETTA PMX.

Description
If you like interesting platforms with a side of realistic recoil, the Umarex BERETTA PMX should tickle your fancy! This exciting new submachine gun is one of the most recent entrants to the real steel SMG market, targeted at Law Enforcement and military units requiring a lightweight and compact platform for close-quarters work.
With design characteristics carried over from the iconic Beretta M12 SMG but reinvented with engineering polymer furniture and ambidextrous controls, the PMX is already in use by the Italian Carabinieri, the Saudi Royal Guard Regiment and Malaysian Special Forces despite only being revealed to the public in 2017.
The Umarex replica is absolutely on point, as we might expect from the masters of high-end, licenced replicas. The PMX GBB is constructed exactly like the real thing, with a high density polymer shell concealing an aluminium inner receiver beneath, and thanks to its gas blowback action, provides immersive recoil and a more realistic firing experience than anything with an electric power source. If you like a platform that stands out as something completely different while providing unparalleled realism, the PMX is exactly that!
Starting at the front, we are greeted with a tri-lug muzzle device, a suppressor/flash hider attachment system which first came to prominence on the legendary MP5. The Tri-lug device can be used to mount Tri-lug compatible suppressors and tracer units like the 5KU SF QD Spitfire Tracer Unit.
For those who want a different muzzle device, you will be happy to learn that beneath the tri-lug device we have 12mm CW male threads which can be accessed by removing the grub screw in the tri-lug device and unscrewing it. With a 12mm CW male to 14mm CCW male thread adapter (Umarex MP7 adapter) you can mount any 14mm CCW compatible muzzle device you fancy.
Immediately behind the tri-lug device, we come to the handguard which is integral to the upper receiver and constructed from textured high density polymer. The handguard boasts 20mm Picatinny rails at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, ready for laser aiming modules, tactical flashlights and vertical or angled foregrips to be mounted. Also present on the handguard is an ambidextrous sling point constructed from steel, giving you a reliable sling mounting position for a two-point sling setup without requiring a rail-mounted aftermarket add-on.
The receiver rail is constructed from aluminium and runs along the entire length of the monolithic upper receiver, meaning despite its short overall length, the PMX is ready to be kitted out with any 20mm Picatinny compatible optical sight setup you choose. The PMX comes with a pre-installed vertical foregrip which is a remarkably comfortable design, made from solid high density polymer with dot texture on the sides and linear texture on the front and rear. This grip really suits the PMX and is a big step up from the usual "freebie" vertical grips, but can be removed if you prefer an alternative 20mm Picatinny front grip.
Moving rearwards, we come to the receiver which comprises 3 parts; the monolithic upper receiver, the lower receiver and the aluminium sub-receiver inside which the bolt carrier reciprocates. The upper and lower are constructed from high density polymer and all of the controls are very well designed. Both the magazine release and fire selector are ambidextrous and mirrored on each side; ideal for left-handed shooters and those who like to use shoulder-to-shoulder transitions to make the best use of the surrounding cover. The charging handle can also be swapped to either side by field stripping the PMX which is super slick and easy, just like the real thing.
The fire selector provides 3 modes of fire; safe, semi and full auto, with a short 45-degree throw between safe and semi and a longer 90-degree throw between semi and full auto. This makes the PMX remarkably fast to manipulate if you use the fire selector as the real guys do, "sights off, safety on". The longer throw to full auto is also very useful to prevent accidentally bumping the selector into the fun mode as you move, avoiding the resulting telling-off from marshalls in CQB.
The mag release is positioned just to the rear of the magazine well, easily within reach when the PMX is held in a firing grip. As mentioned, the magazine release is present on each side, and each button has a textured surface to enhance wet weather performance and handling qualities.
Located in the middle of the receiver, we have our charging handle which needs to be pulled to load the first shot, just like the real PMX. The handle can be installed on either side; either on the left, protruding through a port in the receiver, or on the right, mounted to the carrier around the ejection port, similar to an AK. This SCAR-like functionality is a lovely feature of the PMX, giving you the opportunity to set it up to suit your preferred shooting doctrine.
The rotary HOP-up adjuster of the PMX is located inside the chamber and is accessible when the bolt is locked back. This can be achieved by removing the mag, pulling the charging handle back and then pushing the bolt release button on the centre left of the receiver upwards. With the bolt locked open, you will see a rotary adjuster at the very front of the chamber which adjusts with an audible and tactile click. The HOP-up allows you to tune the PMX for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory.
The pistol grip boasts full Beretta trademarks and a comfortable, modern design with a reduced grip angle and textured panels on either side. More trademarks are present on the upper receiver, reading "PMX" on each side, with "BERETTA" and "P.BERETTA-GARDONE V.T" just below. These markings perfectly match the real thing, and the only evidence that this is a licenced replica and not an actual PMX is the barely visible text on the right side, just above the fire selector.
Mounted to the receiver rail, we are treated to a set of flip-up iron sights which function as pistol-style open sights when stowed, or rifle-style aperture sights when flipped up. This gives you two sight options in one, just like the H&K MP7 flip-up sights. If you're a spray-and-pray type or you prefer an optical sight, the irons can be removed with ease.
When flipped up, the rear sight can be adjusted for windage via the Allen bolt on the right side, and the front sight is where elevation adjustments are applied via the grub screw on the top. These sights are fantastic, and while we expect they will either live in the box or remain flipped down in favour of a red dot sight, these are the type of iron sights which are genuinely functional and not just an afterthought.
At the very rear of the receiver, we come to our second sling point which is yet another steel ambidextrous point which allows slings to be mounted on either side. The use of steel for the sling points means you can sling the PMX with confidence that the sling points will never fail, no matter how many accessories you choose to mount.
The stock is located at the rear of the receiver (duh) and is a side folding stock with similar styling to modern "moss" 1913/20mm stocks found on MPX and MCX rifles but with a locking mech more akin to the H&K G36. The stock can be folded to the right side by pressing the button on the left and will lock firmly into place on the locking lug just above the right-side magazine release. This means the folding stock isn't just for storage and transportation; being firmly locked in place when folded allows you to take tighter corners and make the platform more compact for those kissing-distance firefights in CQB skirmishes.
Also present on the stock are 3 sling loops, giving you even more sling options if you prefer your sling mounted closer to the rear. The sling ports are quite small, similar to those on G36 and MP7 platforms but if you find your sling hook won't fit through, we recommend adding a keyring or loop of paracord to provide a slight extension for broader sling compatibility. At the rear, we are treated to a grippy serrated butt plate which is shaped to grip body armour more effectively than other stocks, meaning the PMX will never slip out of your shoulder at a critical moment.
If you like a platform that nobody recognises which is superbly designed with ferocious GBB recoil and a 100% realistic manual of arms, the Umarex Beretta PMX should be right up your street. A unique, cutting-edge submachine gun with full Beretta licencing; if Biggy was alive today, he would rap about the PMX, not the Tech-9!

Special Instructions
As it comes, the PMX may have issues with reliable bolt locking at the end of an empty magazine. To resolve this, we recommend cleaning the grease out of the internals and lubricating them with silicone dropper oil. We have tried this with several PMX's and bolt locking was reliable and consistent following relubrication.

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
