Specna Arms SA-A07 ONE™ M4/AR-15 AEG; Kestrel Basic ETU

At a glance, this rifle looks like another boring M4-style platform, but you couldn't be further from the truth! If you find the idea of an integrally suppressed rifle appealing, the Specna Arms SA-A07 ONE™ M4/AR-15 AEG; Kestrel Basic ETU should be on your wishlist. This AEG is part of the Specna Arms ONE™ series and offers a full metal construction, spacious crane stock, programmable Kestral Basic ETU, functional bolt release and ergonomic pistol grip. The perfect AEG for those who like a realistic feel when they skirmish.

The Kestrel Basic offers programmable fire modes including 3 round burst and binary trigger, adjustable pre-cocking with 6 levels to choose from and several quality-of-life functions such as low battery warning and cycle completion. When pre-cocking is set, the rifle has a remarkably snappy trigger response, perfect for CQB sites!

Starting at the front end of this platform we find a preinstalled suppressor which covers the 300mm 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, mounting to the 5-inch alloy outer barrel. This gives the SA-A07 the look of an integrally suppressed AR with a compact front end making it easy to take corners in CQB. The suppressor mounts to 14mm CCW male threading but due to the inner barrel length, a barrel extension will be required to mount a tracer unit.

Surrounding the suppressor we have an alloy 20mm Picatinny quad-railed handguard with 20mm rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions, ready for any 20mm accessories you choose to add to complete your mission. Styled after the real steel KAC RIS, the handguard has a realistic look and unlike similar integrally suppressed platforms with KeyMod or M-LOK handguards, you will never have trouble mounting mission essentials to the quad rail of this AEG as it doesn't require clearance between the handguard and suppressor.

As it comes, the SA-A07 is equipped with a set of alloy flip-up aperture iron sights pre-installed on this rail, which have adjustable elevation. These sights can either serve as primary sights if you're old-fashioned or keep you in the fight if your red dot malfunctions mid-skirmish.

Next, we come to the receiver, this is a familiar format for anyone who has handled an M4/AR-15 platform before, constructed from alloy and matching the real M16A4/M4A1 receiver style perfectly. This includes the reinforced front pinhole, mil-spec flat trigger guard, magazine release fence and low profile charging handle latch. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well with a push-through design just like a standard M4/AR-15 AEG, it features a textured surface for optimal traction in speedy reloads.

The fire selector switch is found above the pistol grip on the right side, offering 3 modes of fire with a 90-degree throw between each. The default fire modes are safe, semi-auto and full auto but with the pre-installed Kestrel Basic ETU, you can interchange between binary trigger instead of semi and 3-round burst instead of full auto.

The charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver and features a low-profile charging handle latch to reduce snagging potential. Pulling the charging handle back will open the dust cover and retract the chrome-finished mock bolt, revealing the rotary HOP-up unit on the right side. The HOP-up allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your projectiles and tune the SA-A07 for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. When you've completed your Hop-up adjustments, you can press the bolt release catch located in the centre of the left-hand of the receiver to slide the mock bolt back over the HOP-up unit with a satisfying metal-on-metal "clank".

At the rear of the receiver, we are treated to an ambidextrous sling plate constructed from steel, providing ample strength to support the SA-A07 ONE™ on a single-point sling. This sling point can also be paired with a front sling point (available separately) if you prefer a two-point sling setup for better stability when moving with the rifle stowed. Following the sling plate, we come to the good old AR buffer tube, constructed from alloy and offering 6 positions of stock adjustment for the pre-installed crane stock which also serves as the battery compartment for the Specna Arms SA-A07 ONE™ M4/AR-15 AEG; Kestrel Basic ETU.

You can access the battery compartment either by removing the stock from the buffer tube completely or squeezing the two tabs at the toe of the stock together, after which you can pull the butt plate off, remove the battery plug, and make use of the stock's built-in battery compartment to house a nunchuck/crane-style battery. For the Specna Arms SA-A07 ONE™, we recommend a 7.4V 2600mAh LiPo crane/nunchuck battery to make the most of the spacious crane stock interior.

This Crane stock also includes a pair of QD sling sockets, one on either side, allowing for QD sling swivels to be added for a quick removable sling setup. Conventional sling slots (aka "footman loops") are also present for those who want a two-point sling but prefer the old-fashioned way. The butt plate is also made from grippy rubber, ensuring your MK18 doesn't slip off your shoulder when the adrenaline is high and mistakes can cost you everything. 

Inside the SA-A07 ONE™, we are treated to the same solid internals as the original, including 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings and a steel spring guide with Enter & Convert™ quick change spring functionality. Enter & Convert™ requires the gearbox to be removed from the receiver but doesn't require the gearbox itself to be opened, saving you hassle when it comes to power tuning and minimising the expertise needed.

The highlight of this refined version of the original SA-A07 ONE™ is its Kestrel Basic ETU/MOSFET, which offers 6 levels of adjustable pre-cocking, options for 3 round burst and binary trigger along with low battery warning, cycle completion, active braking and low/high voltage cutoff. This means you can crank up the trigger response for super fast double taps or run this AEG with SAFE-SEMI-3RND BURST fire controls. Also present inside is a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel and rotary HOP-up unit, giving you superb accuracy potential and the latest most reliable HOP-up design for M4/AR-15 platforms.
