If you're checking out action cameras but don't want to waste rail space, the RunCam HitCam 4K Airsoft Scope Camera is the ideal does-it-all device for your setup. This 20mm Picatinny rail-mounted gun camera doubles as an optical sight, offering a target dot reticle which can be zeroed, IR sensors so you can add an IR flashlight and use it as a digital NVG and the ability to record your skirmish footage in 4K, either for showcasing online or to develop your skirmish skills.

Offering up to 10x optical zoom, 8x digital zoom and a calibration function which simplifies the zeroing process and the ability to view your footage live on your phone via the RunCam app, the HitCam packs a whole lot of functionality into a device no larger or heavier than your average red dot sight. If you like to shoot video while you shoot the enemy, the HitCam 4K scope cam is the perfect optic for you!

Description

The RunCam HitCam 4K is the perfect combination device for any advanced Airsofter seeking the cutting edge in Airsoft technology. Combining a digital optical sight with a 4K video recorder not only saves you rail space but opens up new horizons in what you can achieve with the HitCam on your gat.

The 20mm Picatinny rail mount is built into the HitCam, offering a solid integral mount with a recoil lug to prevent forward to rearward movement. The built-in mount is quite low profile so if you need a bit more height for a clearer view, we suggest adding a rail riser.

At the front of the HitCam, you will find a rubber lens cover to protect your lens during storage. This cover will need to be open to use the sight, so we suggest making use of a lens protector to keep this awesome device functional in the face of BB impacts.

Behind the rubber lens cover, we come to the radial magnification adjustment dial, offering up to 10x optical zoom so you can get a clear view of foes at long range and capture video clearly at the peak of Airsoft effective ranges. Following the magnification dial, we have another dial for adjusting the aperture size, allowing you to increase and decrease brightness depending on the current ambient lighting conditions.

Just behind the aperture dial, we come to yet another dial! The focus adjustment dial functions similarly to fast-focus dials on telescopic sights, allowing you to get a clearer view of your objective by tweaking the focus dial until the image becomes clear. This is ideal for situations where your range of engagement can vary widely, offering the ability to quickly adjust the focus from long to short range when moving from an outdoor environment into a building.

Following the objective lens, we come to the housing of the HitCam, constructed from aluminium for a great combination of high strength and low weight. The controls are all located on the top of the sight, with a sliding on/off switch which automatically starts recording when turned on and a directional pad which controls the digital zoom function and image colour palette selection.

With the sliding on/off switch at the forward position, the HitCam's 1.43-inch display will burst into life, powering the device on and commencing immediate recording if you have an SD card installed. The HitCam can accept SD cards of up to 512GB storage capacity, plenty for capturing 4K footage and images but if you want to film a full day, we suggest taking a spare card and a power bank just in case.

Ahead of the on/off switch, we can find the directional control pad, offering up to 8x digital zoom via the forward and backward arrows and colour palette selection via the left and right arrows. Colour palette options include full colour, inverted colours, green tint and white tint, allowing you to choose the most effective for your environment and switch to other options at the press of a button.

The central button allows you to quickly commence and pause filming, also serving as the menu button with a long press. Inside the menu, you will find a near-unending number of customisation options and functions, far too many to list here, but thankfully, RunCam has included a very detailed instruction manual so you can master your new piece of kit and make the most of it in-game!

On each side of the top of the housing, we are treated to an LED indicator light to show WiFi connection, battery charging and video recording status. The blue LED on the right side will blink when Wifi is active and show a solid blue light when WiFi is connected. The left side L.E.D will light up green when the HitCam is charging, show steady red when the unit is powered on and in "standby", flash red slowly when video is being recorded and flash red rapidly to indicate an error.

One of the highlights of the HitCam is its WiFi connectivity, allowing you to view your footage live through your phone as it is filmed with the RunCam app. Thanks to its infrared capability, the HitCam can also be used as a digital night vision device by adding an infrared flashlight to your setup, either mounted on the purpose-built side rail or elsewhere on your primary.

The unit is powered by an internal rechargeable battery, keeping it economical to run and easy to charge via the common USB Type-C interface on the left side of the unit, protected beneath a rubber cover. Also beneath the rubber cover is the Micro SD card port, allowing for Micro SD cards of up to 512GB.

A charging cable is included in the box, as is what is known as a "Flashback cable". The flashback cable works similarly to a pressure switch on an Airsoft laser or flashlight, allowing you to start and stop recording without having to reach for the HitCam itself so you can keep your hand on the handguard and continue to engage. This feature comes straight from the original RunCam Scope Cam and makes operating the unit in the heat of a firefight far more intuitive.

If you've been checking out the RunCam, this is the ultimate version. Combining a video recorder with a digital and optical sight with WiFi functionality and the ability to be used as a digital NVG by adding an IR flashlight makes this one of the most impressive pieces of Airsoft technology to hit the market yet. If you like leading the way with the latest tech and innovations assisting your skirmishing efforts, the RunCam HitCam 4K belongs on your primary!
