Delta Armory DA-A10-EGL ALPHA™ SilentOps DMR M4/AR-15 AEG

If you're a stealthy marksman and need a DMR base gun, you can't ask for much better than the DA-A10-EGL ALPHA™ Silent Ops DMR! A full-length integrally suppressed M4/AR-15 platform, the DA-A10-EGL is ideally suited to long-range but short enough to handle a mixed environment. The combination of a 10-inch outer barrel with a 5-inch suppressor makes this beast the same length as the standard M4A1 carbine, meaning it can go anywhere and do anything, though we think it would make a fantastic DMR base gun, especially given its pre-installed EAGLE™ programmable MOSFET!

Being an AEG of the Delta Armory ALPHA™ line, the DA-A10-EGL Silent Ops DMR is considerably pre-upgraded straight out of the box, boasting a reinforced gearbox shell, SHS piston with a full steel tooth rack, a quick change ball bearing spring guide and a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel paired with a rotary HOP-up unit for impressive long-range effectiveness. The new EAGLE™ ETU/MOSFET is the star of the show, offering unprecedented programming options using only the fire controls of the AEG itself. Options include 3 or 5-round burst mode, binary trigger, sniper delay, AUG mode, semi-auto only and precocking. Thanks to its quick change spring system, the DA-A10-EGL can be an assault rifle one day and a DMR the next!

Starting at the front end we can find a pre-installed aluminium suppressor which covers the 360mm 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, mounting to the 10-inch alloy outer barrel. This gives the Silent Ops DMR a stealthy aesthetic, similar to the much-lauded "Honey Badger" configuration but with the extra length to handle long-range encounters. The suppressor mounts to 14mm CCW male threading but due to the extended inner barrel, a barrel extension will be required to mount a tracer unit.

Moving rearwards, we come to the handguard of the Silent Ops DMR which is constructed from aluminium using CNC machining, guaranteeing in-spec attachment slots and rails and a flawless form. The handguard is equipped with a 20mm Picatinny rail along its entire upper surface, allowing for a wide range of 20mm Picatinny accessories to be added without hindering your ability to also mount a massive scope. 

At the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, we are treated to KeyMod negative space attachment slots, allowing you to mount the latest vertical and angled foregrip designs directly or make use of 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for KeyMod if you prefer 20mm Picatinny accessories. The front end of the handguard is also swept back, adding to the dynamic, modern styling of the Silent Ops DMR. 

The benefit of KeyMod is that in its slick configuration, the handguard is incredibly light and surprisingly ergonomic, meaning you don't need to add rail covers to avoid the cheese grater effect as you might with a 20mm quad rail. In this integrally suppressed configuration, the front 3 KeyMod slots are non-functional due to the lack of space between the inner handguard wall and suppressor, though the other KeyMod slots can all be used with the suppressor in place. 

The receiver of Delta Armory's Silent Ops DMR is a modernised design, complete with machined-gripping texture on the front of the magazine well, ideal for shooting from unconventional positions along with angular surfaces across the receiver, giving the old '60s AR design a 21st-century facelift. The trigger guard is also enlarged and built into the receiver, improving strength considerably and following trends in the latest high-end real steel AR-15 rifles.

The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip and offers 3 modes of fire; SAFE, SEMI and AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. This makes the selector easy to switch, but not so easy that it can be knocked out of position accidentally. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is accessible for a right-handed user with the tip of the trigger finger.

Pulling back the charging handle, located at the top rear of the receiver will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt carrier to allow access to the rotary HOP-up adjuster. This is the latest HOP-up unit design for the M4/AR-15 and provides finer increments of adjustment and holds its setting more effectively when compared to the older gear style HOP-up unit. The charging handle has an extended latch for easier access, allowing even those with thick gloves to access the HOP-up unit, though you may need to take off a glove to turn the adjuster!

The mock bolt catch is located in the centre of the left side of the receiver, and while this is a dummy control which doesn't provide a function it is nonetheless a separate part to maintain the realistic appearance and avoid the tell-tale signs of being a replica. The dummy forward assist is present on the right side of the upper receiver, right where it should be. This control does nothing on an AEG, and some real AR shooters argue it does nothing on the real thing, but it is included on the Silent Ops DMR to keep the rifle faithful to real M4/AR-15 rifles.

The pistol grip of the DA-A10-EGL boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and in more modern shooting stances. Each flank of the pistol grip includes fine crackle texturing, with additional linear texture on the front and back straps for perfect wet weather handling. The trigger is a "flat" trigger with a short finger ledge and textured front, making it ideal for pumping out rapid semi-automatic shots. The trigger guard is built into the receiver, improving strength and allowing gloved fingers easier access to the trigger than the standard AR flat trigger guard.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction of the sling plate practically guarantees no matter what you choose to mount to the plethora of 20mm rails on the DA-A10-EGL, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight. At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters.

To the rear of the sling plate, we come to the M4/AR-15 buffer tube, which is constructed from the same strong high density polymer used for the receiver. The buffer tube offers 6 positions of stock adjustment for the pre-installed Delta Armory battery stock, allowing you to set the stock at the perfect length to suit your body type and loadout.

The stock itself is a slimline design unique to the latest releases from Delta Armory. Featuring a QD sling socket on either side, a low-profile adjustment lever on the bottom together with conventional "footman loops", aka sling slots, the highlight of this stock is its rubber butt plate featuring lattice checkering and an angled section at the toe for providing grip in the most modern shooting stances, with or without body armour. If you have a preferred stock design, the stock can be swapped for alternative M4/AR-15 AEG stocks if you want to change up the looks!

The buffer tube also serves as the battery compartment for the DA-A10-EGL. To access the battery compartment, you will need to pull the stock adjustment lever (located on the bottom of the stock) out and hold it in place, after which you can slide the stock off the buffer tube, revealing a Deans/T-Plug battery connector inside. We recommend a 7.4V 1450mAh LiPo in stick configuration for the DA-A10-EGL though you may need to keep the stock extended to fit this battery inside. Delta Armory recommends a LiPo battery measuring 1.4 x 1.9 x 10 cm approximately for full functionality of the sliding stock. 

As it comes, the Silent Ops DMR is fitted with plenty of pre-upgraded internal parts focusing on longevity and user-friendly maintenance, made all the sweeter by the advanced EAGLE™ MOSFET system. The version 2 gearbox shell is reinforced, allowing it to be upgraded for higher power springs if you want to take your build in a DMR direction. The spring guide is a quick change example, allowing for quick and easy power tuning without opening the gearbox shell and has ball bearings in its base to reduce the rotational force applied to the gearbox shell for a longer lifespan. 

Inside the gearbox, we have a set of 18:1 ratio steel gears mounted on 8mm ball bearing bushings, an SHS piston with a full steel tooth rack and an SHS delayer chip and tappet plate to add reinforcement in the key places that need it. The ball-bearing bushings allow the gears to spin more freely with a reduced gearbox report and a much smoother sound.

The new EAGLE™ ETU/MOSFET system takes centre stage, offering more programmable options than ever before, including 3 or 5-round burst mode, binary trigger, sniper delay, AUG mode, semi-auto only and precocking. The ability to program this wide variety of modes using the trigger and selector of the gun itself gives the DA-A10-EGL the edge over practically any other platform in this price range. To provide the accuracy needed to get the job done at long range, the DA-A10-EGL ALPHA™ is rocking a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel paired with a rotary HOP-up unit, offering higher FPS with the same spring and finer HOP-up adjustment increments.
