If you are looking for a pump action shotgun to lay down the law in CQB this is one of our favourites! The CM.360M M3 Super 90 from CYMA is a spring-powered pump action shotgun which uses the Tokyo Marui Tri-shot system, meaning with each trigger pull you get 3 BBs headed downrange from 3 separate inner barrels, improving hit probability by providing a shotgun-like spread pattern.

We have seen Tri-shot shotguns before, and even M3 Super 90 style ones, so what makes this so special? Well, it is full metal, giving it a solid feel in the hands and a decent but not over-the-top weight, and CYMA has added a few frills to this ancient TM design to add extra realism for those that seek it, most notably the moving mock bolt carrier and charging handle, which has been omitted from Airsoft M3 Super 90 shotguns until now. If you have a taste for realism and you need a spring tri-shot to expand your arsenal this would be a great pick!

Description

If you are looking for a tri-shot shotgun but you want one of the more realistic designs going, the CYMA CM.360M M3 Super 90 should be high up on your list. This shotgun is based on the Tokyo Marui M3 Super 90 but is now full metal, with a moving mock bolt carrier and mock charging handle thanks to CYMA.

The shotgun is a pump action design which fires 3 BBs per trigger pull from 3 independent inner barrels, each with its own fixed HOP-up optimised for 0.2g or 0.25g BBs. If you fancy a change of pace and a challenge, a Tri-shot shotgun can be an asset when it comes to getting the first shot off when clearing a room or landing a hit on fast-moving opponents.

Starting at the tip of the barrel we can see the gaping entrance to the realistically sized 12 gauge barrel, constructed from alloy to maintain a realistic weight, feel and balance. The barrel is not threaded, which means no suppressors or tracer units, but any true shotgun fan would be glad for this! The front iron sight is positioned on top of the barrel, providing a wide and easy-to-acquire front post with a groove down the centre which can be painted white to make it faster to pick up in low light conditions.

Below the barrel, we have an alloy mock magazine tube which is designed to match the real M3 Super 90 perfectly. At the tip of the magazine tube, we have an alloy sling loop which is positioned centrally to make the shotgun easy to carry on a sling for both left and right-handed shooters.

To the rear of the sling point, there is an unusual-looking rocker-style switch; this is the mock fire selector. The real M3 Super 90 is actually a select fire design, offering the option of semi-automatic fire with full-power shotgun shells and pump action with lower-power breaching and less-lethal shells which do not have the power to cycle the M3's inertia-driven blowback system. Unfortunately, Airsoft technology is not quite at the point where we can replicate this, but the inclusion of the mock mode selector/pump lock is a nod to realism and an essential part of a realistic M3 Super 90 replica.

The foregrip/pump is textured and shaped to fit the hand perfectly, allowing for rapid fire despite the relatively strong springs involved in the M3 tri-shot system. This being a full stocked variant is by far the easiest to operate of all the spring tri-shot designs out there as the additional leverage on the pump you get when the shotgun is shouldered allows for a respectable rate of fire, especially when you factor in the tri-shot nature of this beast.

The rear iron sight is mounted to the top of the rearmost section of the outer barrel which has the classic shotgun-style taper towards the tip, being wider at the chamber to contain the pressure from firing. The sight can be slid side to side in its dovetail to provide windage adjustment and has a helpful gauge moulded in so you can easily find the central point again. This rear sight is basic and designed with fast acquisition as a priority, but like the front sight, it has two notches which can be painted to make the sights more visible if that is your preference.

Next up we arrive at the receiver which is constructed from alloy, giving the shotgun realistic centre of balance and ample weight for a more immersive experience. The receiver is featureless on the left side, which is common with shotgun designs as it makes them easy to carry on a sling without creating snag points and causing discomfort for the user.

Over on the right side is where the action is, quite literally! The mock bolt carrier and charging handle can be found protruding through the mock ejection port, and unlike other M3 Super 90 replicas, even the legendary TM, this one moves back and forth as you move the foregrip/pump, making the firing experience that bit more interesting. Below the charging handle, we also have a mock bolt release button which does nothing but is nonetheless an essential part of a realistic looking M3 Super 90. Having a charging handle is a rare feature on M3 Super 90 shotgun replicas as the original TM left this feature out, as did the majority of TM clones on the market. CYMA, ever the innovators, decided to give us realism nuts what we wanted in a Super 90; the charging handle right where it should be!

On the bottom of the receiver, we can find the trigger guard, trigger, shell door release and safety catch. The trigger is a curved design and has a short but heavy pull, ensuring that when you pull the trigger you actually mean it! The safety catch is built into the trigger guard and is a push-through style design. When the textured button protrudes on the right side it means the trigger is locked and the shotgun cannot be fired, and when it protrudes on the left the shotgun is hot and ready to do its business. The safety is marked in red around its circumference which shows when the shotgun is in "dangerous" mode, meaning you can check the condition of the shotgun visually by looking for the red marked safety button and check it in low light by feeling which side the button protrudes from.

The shell door release is positioned on the right side of the trigger guard and is nicely positioned well within reach of the trigger finger when the shotgun is held in a firing grip. Pressing the release forwards will open the shell door and allow the shell to drop down slightly, where it will be retained. This means you can easily retrieve a spent shell from the shell port and load a new one in with a single hand, and you also have the option of "stripping and ripping", i.e. throwing the spent shell clear of the action to get a new one in pronto. It is nice that CYMA has designed this shotgun such that the shells do not fly out when the shell door opens as that is a great way to lose shells in the field!

Lastly, we come to the stock/pistol grip setup which is rock solid and makes this M3 Super 90 far easier to pump rapidly than some of the stockless and adjustable stock models. The pistol grip has linear texture on either side and a built-in ledge at the base to ensure the M3 doesn't slip out of your grasp in wet weather and has an ergonomic shape with a bevel covering the transition between the grip and the trigger guard, removing "hot spots" which cause irritation over long durations of use.

The stock has a slight downwards angle and a moderately long length of pull which should be suitable for most users, and a rubber butt plate to keep it locked into your shoulder whether you wear a plate carrier, chest rig or no rig at all when skirmishing. On either side of the stock, we are treated to a sling slot which can be paired up with the centrally positioned front sling point to set up a two-point sling on either side of the M3, depending on your preferences.

Those looking for a spring action Tri-shot M3 Super 90 replica, you no longer have to settle for plastic! This new metal M3 shoots nicely, is very affordable and comes with 3 shotgun shell magazines to get you off to a flying start. Whether you are bored of shooting AEGs and want more of a challenge or you need a CQB entry tool with high hit probability thanks to its tri-shot system, the CYMA CM.360M would be a fine tool for the job!

Special Instructions

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.

Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
