The VULKAN Advanced AK AEG is Bolster Armouries' first AK platform, hand-tuned to perfection by talented technicians following the Bolster philosophy that only perfection is good enough. Named for its significant weight and enduring majority steel build, VULKAN is the English pronunciation for "вулкан", the Russian word for "Volcano"; an eternal immutable barrier which prevents any enemy force from advancing without enduring a blazing burst of peak performance.
The base platform is the LCT LCK104 AEG, a platform known to provide one of the most realistic AK handling experiences out there, bristling with steel and stamped steel parts front-to-back. The only internal parts which remain are the gearbox shell, HOP-up unit and nozzle; everything else has been replaced with the best aftermarket upgrade parts out there and even some unique parts commissioned by Bolster Armouries, resulting in an incredible AK platform which can go toe to toe with the ONYX Advanced M4 AEG any day of the week.
Formed using the absolute best external parts on the market with the prerequisite potency only a Bolster Armouries AEG can provide, the VULKAN marries the enduring AK build format with a vigorously aggressive modern style-up with its authentic Magpul Zhukov-U M-LOK Handguard and MOE Carbine Stock. The LCT Stamped Steel Railed Receiver Top Cover was added for optical sight compatibility and the monstrously menacing 5KU DTK-2 Muzzle Brake completes the ferocious front end.

The result is an AK AEG at the top of its game both internally and externally, ready to outshoot almost anything else you'll encounter on the skirmishfield.
If the mass-produced AK replicas from other manufacturers are the equivalent of a Lada, the Bolster Armouries VULKAN is a GAZ Tigr; built for the rigours of combat and styled to match, providing a steadfast surge of pure performance with a uniquely intimidating aesthetic.
Bolster Armouries VULKAN Advanced AK AEG
A new addition to the Bolster Armouries lineup, the VULKAN Advanced AK AEG is based around the LCT LCK104 AEG, an AK-104 replica made almost entirely from steel; the only way to do the real Avtomat Kalashnikova justice in Airsoft form. The AK-104/105 is widely regarded as the best-looking AK, landing right between the full-length AK-74 and the more compact AKS-74U configurations in length and Bolster Armouries has made it even more handsome with authentic Magpul furniture and Western-inspired ergonomic enhancements.
Every part made from steel in a real AK rifle is also steel in the VULKAN, including the barrel, front sight/gas block assembly, gas tube, handguard caps, trunnion block, receiver, trigger guard, fire selector, dust cover and stock tangs. Make no mistake, this is not your everyday "full metal" AK AEG; the vast quantities of milled, cast and stamped steel parts give the VULKAN realistic weight distribution and unsurpassed structural strength. When you get your hands on the VULKAN, you'll realise how it got its name!
The muzzle device chosen for the VULKAN is a fantastic replica of the real steel DTK-2 muzzle brake made by 5KU, constructed from steel and finished in a dark metallic gunmetal grey. The DTK-2's squat, sinister form gives the VULKAN an aura of intensity unmatched by the original AK-104 muzzle brake and the Russian origin of its design suits the East/West crossover theme of the build perfectly. The DTK-2 mounts to the steel outer barrel's 24mm CW Russian threading, meaning if you want to run the VULKAN suppressed or with a tracer, you can do so provided you source a device with the correct thread or use a 14mm CCW thread adapter. We recommend the LCT ZDTK-T PUTNIK to maintain the brutal Russian aesthetic.
The steel gas block/front sight assembly follows just behind, finished with an anti-corrosion coating matching real Russian AK rifles perfectly. The coating adds another level of contrast and visual interest to the externals, making the details stand out for the discerning observer. The mock gas tube follows just behind, constructed from stamped steel with a gloss black finish; a perfect match for real AK gas tubes. Real firearms rarely have a consistent finish across all parts due to different manufacturing methods and design parameters; LCT did a fantastic job replicating this on the LCK104, making it the perfect base for the beastly VULKAN.
One of the highlights of the build is the handguard setup, an authentic Magpul Zhukov-U handguard with M-LOK negative space attachment slots and a ported upper handguard made from Magpul's proprietary glass-fibre reinforced polymer. M-LOK slots are available at the front and rear on either side, ideally placed for tactical flashlights and laser aiming devices with an additional 4 slots running along the bottom, ready for your choice of vertical or angled foregrip.
In line with the positively slick Magpul aesthetic with its ribbed design, built-in hand stop at the front and dynamic yet smooth ergonomic profile, the Zhukov-U is modern and menacing in equal measure; a perfect fit for the VULKAN build objectives and a significant handling improvement when compared to the original handguard.
The milled steel trunnion block protrudes just to the rear of the upper handguard, another point of intricate contrast in the VULKAN external design. Just like a real AK, the machining marks are visible through the gunmetal grey finish and stand out nicely alongside the disassembly lever which has a similar finish to the gas block, mimicking real steel anti-corrosion finishes.
Replacing the rear iron sight of a standard AK, we have the LCT Stamped Steel Railed Top Cover, a hinged design which connects to the trunnion block where the old-school tangent rear sight would be on the original LCK104. The top cover is constructed from thick stamped steel and features a CNC-machined aluminium 20mm Picatinny rail riveted onto its upper surface, ready for your choice of optical sight. The rail slots are numerically marked so you can track your optic placement when removed for maintenance and the rail as a whole is flawlessly machined, guaranteeing solid mounting with whichever 20mm Picatinny compatible sighting system you choose.
The hinged top cover is extremely convenient compared to standard AKs when it comes to battery installation; simply press the button at the rear of the top cover and it will hinge open under spring tension. Inside, you'll find a Deans/T-Plug battery connector to which you connect your battery. We recommend an 11.1V 20C LiPo battery in AK stick configuration, one of which is included in the VULKAN package.
The receiver is a flawless replica of the real thing, constructed using thick steel stamped and folded into shape, with rivets in all the right spots and authentic recessed Cyrillic lettering surrounding the fire selector switch. The selector switch itself is a great replica of the real steel X47 enhanced selector switch, allowing you to switch modes easily from a firing grip; an attribute the original AK platform lacked. The X47 selector also includes a cutout along the top, designed to allow a real steel AK bolt carrier to be locked open for malfunction clearance.
On the bottom of the receiver, we can find the magazine release/trigger guard assembly, made from steel and centrally positioned, ideal for left or right-handed shooters. The trigger guard assembly is all original LCT but the trigger is something else. The team chose the RetroArms CNC AK Trigger finished in metallic red to add an eye-catching hint to onlookers that this AK is as premium on the inside as it is externally. The RetroArms CNC trigger is paired with a bespoke part commissioned by Bolster Armouries, known as the AK Trigger Restrictor. This shortens the trigger travel to a minimum to facilitate rapid double taps and keep pace with previous Bolster AR platform releases.
At the rear of the receiver, we can find steel stock tangs, God's gift to the AK AEG user who likes to play rough. Stock tangs on most Airsoft AKs are constructed from alloy and are a known failure point, especially if the platform is dropped on the stock. While we don't advise throwing such a gorgeous AK around, the VULKAN is strong enough to resist all but the most extreme impacts thanks to the well-chosen LCK104 base platform.
Mounted to the stock tangs, we have the LCT AR Buffer tube, constructed from aluminium with QD sling sockets on either side, ready for QD sling swivels. The buffer tube provides 4 length of pull positions, allowing you to adjust the stock to suit your body type, stance and loadout perfectly.
Riding on the buffer tube, we are treated to an authentic Magpul MOE® AR-15 Carbine stock, a simplified derivative of the legendary CTR stock. An A-frame design equipped with sling slots aka "footman loops", the MOE® stock is a low-snag shape with a concealed adjustment lever and a rubber butt plate, offering ample traction for wet weather use and almost no chance of sling or rig-related snagging. The MOE® stock is made from the same robust polymer formula as the Zhukov-U handguard, promising the incredible strength and rigidity expected of a proven real steel stock design.
Real Steel Magpul Furniture
Magpul Industries Corp was founded in 1999 with its namesake product, the "Magpul", a magazine assist device designed to improve magazine handling under stress and in combative environments.
Fast forward a couple of decades and Magpul has become a household name in the tactical community, offering a vast range of innovative yet simple accessories for a wide selection of firearms. Magpul has always been Bolster Armouries' first choice when it comes to real steel accessories thanks not only to its seriously slick looks but also its mould-breaking concepts which have changed the game when it comes to platform ergonomics.
Magpul Zhukov-U M-LOK Handguard
The Magpul Zhukov-U handguard is the mid-length option from Magpul’s AK lineup, being the ideal length to be paired with the 12.5-inch barrelled VULKAN Advanced AK AEG. Made from some of the strongest polymer on Earth proven through years of use in both combat and training applications, the Zhukov-U is well up to the task of surviving the rigours of Airsoft skirmishing indefinitely under normal use.
With a dynamic, swept-back front end and built-in hand stop, the Zhukov-U is shaped for flawless ergonomics and includes ribs along its length to promote intuitive handling in all weather conditions. Styling-wise, the Zhukov-U looks like the AR-15 MOE handguard’s brutal, bad-boy brother, carrying over the iconic Magpul looks to the AK platform and matching its utilitarian, means business aesthetic.
The Zhukov-U is equipped with M-LOK attachment slots at the front on each side in the perfect spot for a tactical flashlight or laser aiming module. An additional slot is present at the rear, ideally suited to an M-LOK sling point. Running along the bottom, we have a row of 4 M-LOK slots, giving you plenty of space to mount a vertical or angled foregrip where you see fit.
Its mix of sleek styling when run slick with the ability to add M-LOK accessories to suit the mission at hand made the Zhukov-U the perfect fit for the VULKAN Advanced AK, avoiding adding excess mass to the already monstrous base platform while providing accessory interfaces to suit the modern battlefield.
Magpul MOE® AR-15 Carbine Stock
Based on the Magpul CTR Stock, the MOE is an "A-frame" design, intended to keep the weight of the stock to a minimum whilst retaining optimal strength. The adjustment latch is concealed within the A-frame shape, avoiding snagging on slings or other equipment while keeping the latch shielded against inadvertent activation. A premium chrome-silicone lock spring is used in the adjustment mechanism to provide dependable locking and a long life of repeated, reliable use.
Like its daddy, the CTR, the MOE is compatible with aftermarket CTR and MOE cheek risers from Magpul along with the Larue RISR, giving you the option to raise the comb height to suit whatever optical sight setup you choose. The pre-installed butt pad is constructed from 0.3" thick rubber for optimal wet weather traction but this can be replaced with an aftermarket CTR/MOE compatible butt plate at your discretion.
The top of the stock has a sloping profile to provide a comfortable cheek weld whilst retaining a slim footprint. The sling mounting options provided on the MOE stock include 1.25" sling loops on the bottom of the A-frame and at the rear and a lanyard hole at the toe of the stock which is perfect for custom paracord sling solutions. Naturally, the MOE stock is made from the same ultra-strong Magpul proprietary polymer as the Zhukov-U handguard, giving you modern furniture easily strong enough to suit the VULKAN’s mountainous mass.
External Enhancements
While the classic AK look is iconic, the VULKAN needed some significant changes in ergonomics to keep it competitive with the ONYX and ONYX [Blackout] platforms on the field. Several aesthetic changes were made to suit the modern build style and the result is an AK at the top of its game, both outside and in.
Evike Matrix Ribbed Ergonomic Pistol Grip - High density Polymer
One of the biggest ergonomic pitfalls of the original AK design is the pistol grip, a product of an era before ergonomics were a consideration in rifle design. As such, the Bolster team replaced the original LCT AK-style pistol grip with a modern alternative, known as the Matrix Ribbed Ergonomic Pistol Grip.
The Matrix grip is shaped similarly to popular real steel ergonomic grips for AK rifles, equipped with linear ribs on the front and rear to add traction and recesses on either side for indexing the thumb. The back strap provides a smooth transition between the grip itself and the receiver, ensuring "hot spots" are minimised to reduce hand fatigue over long durations of use. Aesthetically, the Matrix Ribbed Ergonomic Pistol grip is a great match for the authentic Magpul parts, tying the full VULKAN build together as a completed piece.
LCT AR Buffer Tube for LCT AK Rifles - Aluminium
Constructed from aluminium with QD sling sockets on either side, the LCT AR Buffer Tube adds a touch of modernity to the ageing AK design. The buffer tube mounts to the steel stock tangs, offering 4 positions of adjustment for the authentic Magpul MOE AR-15 Carbine Stock. Being compatible with AR-15 stocks for mil-spec buffer tubes also means if you want to change up the looks of the VULKAN in the future, swapping the stock can be done in seconds.
The length of pull adjustment provided by the buffer tube means you can set the stock to suit your preferred stance and body type, using the more compressed positions for shooting with a plate carrier or body armour vest. QD sling sockets are a great addition, allowing you to mount a QD sling swivel on either side of the VULKAN and run a single-point sling, or add an extra sling point up front for a two-point sling setup.
LCT AK Railed Top Cover - Stamped Steel
Everyone who owns an AK replica knows they can be a bit of a handful when it comes to mounting optics; thankfully, the VULKAN has cleared this hurdle thanks to its LCT AK Railed Top Cover. The top cover is constructed from thick stamped steel with a CNC aluminium 20mm Picatinny rail riveted to the top, ready for your choice of optical sight.
Being a hinged design means convenience when it comes to battery swaps and also helps ensure the top cover fits tightly, avoiding the usual rattly AK top cover which definitely is not conducive to a precisely zeroed optic. The top cover of the VULKAN is absolutely rock solid; whether you opt for a red dot sight or magnified optic, your zero will stay true.
LCT ZRP-1 Charging Handle - CNC Aluminium
Inspired by popular upgrades found on real steel tactical AK builds in US civilian hands, the ZRP-1 Charging handle is a CNC machined aluminium extension mounting to the integral charging handle of the steel LCK104 bolt carrier, providing improved traction for wet weather use.
The ZRP-1 also extends slightly further from the receiver than the original handle, allowing modern AK manipulation methods such as racking the charging handle with the off-hand by going under the receiver to be carried out more intuitively. In terms of Airsoft, this is more of an aesthetic upgrade than anything else, but does make accessing the HOP-up unit that bit easier in a mid-skirmish downpour or when wearing gloves.
LCT X47 Selector Switch - Stamped Steel
LCT's X47 selector switch is based on real enhanced AK selector switches conceived for the US civilian tactical community, allowing Western handling techniques to be used with the pre-Cold War AK design. Constructed from the same thick stamped steel as the other LCT core parts, the X47 features a finger ledge to allow fire mode selection using the trigger finger while your strong hand remains on the pistol grip, ready to unleash hell.
A subtle change though this may be, an enhanced selector switch makes a massive difference in function for those who play "sights off, safety off" and is an iconic part of practically all modernised "tactical" AK builds in the real world. Also present is a cutout which allows the bolt carrier to be locked open in the real thing, but this is non-functional when it comes to the VULKAN and included purely for that tactical aesthetic.
5KU DTK-2 Muzzle Brake - Steel
While the AK-104 Trumpet Gas Booster muzzle brake is an iconic part of the original AK-104 build, it simply didn't look right on the dressed-to-impress VULKAN. The team opted for the 5KU DTK-2 Muzzle Brake, a fantastic replica of the real steel Zenitco DTK-2 seen on customised AK rifles from around the world.
A squat design with a pair of massive ports on each side and two smaller ports on the bottom, the DTK-2 is a seriously mean muzzle device constructed from steel and flawlessly machined. The real DTK-2 device is designed to reduce felt recoil and compensate for muzzle climb and is generally seen on carbine and SBR-length AK rifles, a perfect fit for the VULKAN.
Internal Enhancements
The internal parts present in the Bolster Armouries VULKAN are hand-selected for the high quality materials used in their construction as well as for their exceptional performance when installed properly. Each Bolster Armouries Gearbox is hand-built, with each gear being perfectly shimmed for smooth operation and the piston position being corrected for the perfect angle of engagement (AOE) to provide maximum efficiency and longevity.
This gearbox is matched with one of the most well-regarded steel tightbore inner barrels out there, renowned for its rigidity and high quality internal finish. This is paired with the Maple Leaf OMEGA nub and Prometheus Purple HOP-up rubber, a combination which has performed superbly in previous Bolster Armouries AEG releases, reaching out to 60 meters and beyond in its stride. Prometheus 6.03mm EG Inner Barrel - Stainless Steel

The Prometheus 6.03mm EG inner barrel is constructed from SUS 304 stainless steel (also known as SS304 or AISI304), with a chromium content of between 18% and 20% and nickel content between 8% and 10.5%. This choice of material not only gives the inner barrel exceptional rigidity, but has higher corrosion resistance than other stainless steel, aluminium, or brass used in other inner barrels.
This inner barrel was chosen primarily for its reputation as one of the best AEG upgrades money can buy, but also its precise dimensional tolerances which are guaranteed to be within 1/100th of a millimetre of the manufacturer's specs. This means we can confidently say your Bolster Arms AEG will shoot straight and true, as long as you do your part! This part also serves as a great way to increase the FPS of an AEG by a small amount without adding additional strain to the gearbox, simply by using the compressed air provided by the piston more efficiently.
Prometheus Purple HOP-up Rubber - Soft Rubber

The Prometheus Purple HOP-up Rubber is based on the original and proven Tokyo Marui HOP-up rubber design but is cast in a far more wear resistant rubber while maintaining the prerequisite softness necessary for a strong HOP effect.
This HOP-up rubber has become a household name in Airsoft, next to the Guarder Clear, but the Prommy Purple has, in recent years become the HOP-up bucking of choice for those attempting a Flat HOP modification. This mod intends to increase the effect of the HOP-up by widening the area of contact with the BB and is generally home-brewed and can have wildly varying results, often requiring extensive testing and troubleshooting. Maple Leaf Delayer OMEGA Nub - Hard Rubber

The Maple Leaf OMEGA HOP-up nub is intended to be a mass-produced alternative to the home-brewed R-HOP and flat HOP modifications of yesteryear. This provides the kind of performance you would expect from a very well made flat HOP modification, but with no chance of potential jams and considerably less likelihood of failure due to its single-piece design.
The OMEGA nub has a concave contact surface, shaped to match that of a 6mm BB perfectly, providing HOP-up effect across the entire upper surface of the BB, instead of just a single point in the centre. This provides excellent side-to-side stability and an increased HOP effect, extending the range of the AEG into the borderline implausible when used with the right ammo!
Laylax EG Hardened Steel 13:1 High Speed Gear Set - Heat Treated Japanese Steel

The EG Hard Gear Set from Laylax is constructed from hardened steel and is a high speed gearset intended to considerably increase rate of fire of any AEG into the realms of the extreme. These gears are leaps and bounds ahead of the original LCT gears in strength, making them a worthwhile inclusion for long-term reliability under the extreme performance parameters set by the Bolster Armouries team.
These gears are tuned to a 13:1 ratio, which means for every 13 revolutions of your motor the gearbox will complete one full cycle. The standard gear ratio for Airsoft AEGs is 18:1, meaning the Laylax High Speed set will give the GORA a far higher rate of fire than its rivals and allow the potential of the astonishingly fast Warhead Motor to really shine through.
The set includes a spur gear, sector gear, and bevel gear which are all precisely machined and shimmed to perfection by the Bolster team for flawless meshing and smooth, reliable performance. Laylax, also known as "Prometheus" or "First Factory" has been a household name in the area of AEG upgrade parts for over a decade now, and many experienced techs rely on Laylax parts to keep their high performance builds running in the long term.
Laylax parts have performed admirably in the AEGs of the previous Bolster Armouries releases and these 13:1 gears blend with the rest of the GORA build to provide an exceptionally high rate of fire, potentially the fastest build Bolster has ever released!

The Laylax Hard Anti-reversal Latch is an essential part designed to prevent the gears from reversing as the spring resets. While the Gate TITAN MOSFET provides active breaking to prevent gear reversals and overcycling, keeping the ARL adds an extra level of essential security for the high-performance GORA.
Unlike the original ARL, the Laylax Hard ARL is made from hardened steel and well up to the task of regulating the cycle of the gearbox under the additional strain of a Warhead Industries Brushless Motor and the Laylax 13:1 High-speed gearset.

FPS Softair parts are manufactured in Italy by Airsofters who share the Bolster Team’s passion for high performance and superlative quality Airsoft upgrades. The FPS Cylinder chosen for the GORA is the Type D model, providing the perfect air volume for the Prometheus 265mm 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, meaning no power is lost through “suck back” thanks to a flawlessly efficient air seal system.
The FPS Steel Cylinder is ribbed on its exterior, but not for her pleasure! The role of these ribs is to more effectively seal the walls of the cylinder with those of the gearbox shell to prevent any air from leaking out. The inside of the cylinder is polished to a near-mirror finish, meaning minimal friction and minimal energy lost as the piston reciprocates back and forth.
Having a high quality cylinder installed is another way the Bolster Armouries gearbox maximizes efficiency, squeezing every last bit of usable air from each piston cycle, giving you higher FPS without adding strain to the gearbox.

The FPS Softair Carbon Fibre reinforced tappet plate was chosen based on the superb quality and high performance bar set by FPS parts used in successful previous Bolster Armouries platforms. Ideal for a precise build which requires perfect nozzle alignment, the tappet plate is constructed from carbon fibre reinforced nylon polymer which has the perfect amount of rigidity and flex without being vulnerable to sudden fractures under heavy load as a conventional polycarbonate tappet might.
The tappet plate is an essential part when it comes to ensuring the AEG's internals are timed correctly and that feeding is smooth and constant. The FPS Tappet has an absolutely flawless shape and the perfect amount of strength while avoiding being so hard it becomes brittle. Its carbon fibre reinforced polymer gives it the edge in durability over every other tappet on the market; perfect for a real beast of an AEG like the GORA.
Gate Protector Cylinder head - CNC Machined Aluminium

The Gate Protector CNC aluminium cylinder head is constructed from CNC machined aircraft grade aluminium to an extremely high degree of precision. The Protector is designed to ensure the nozzle aligns perfectly with the nozzle guide on the cylinder head itself to prevent feeding and FPS fluctuation issues due to what is known as “mid-cap syndrome”.
The Protector is also fitted with a shock-absorbing rubber bumper which functions the same way as the AirLab Sorbothane pad used in previous Bolster builds, reducing wear and stress on the gearbox shell and limiting wear on the piston head. To ensure we get the air seal qualities we should with a precise CNC machined part, the Protector also has a dual O-ring configuration around its circumference to completely close the gap between the cylinder and cylinder head.

As with the ‘Protector’ cylinder head, the Gate Power Hybrid Piston Head is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminium using CNC machining technology to provide the tight tolerances necessary for a perfect fit between the cylinder walls and piston head and flawless air seal qualities.
The Power piston head features a pair of O-rings to completely seal any gap between the cylinder and the piston head itself, completely eliminating air leaks to ensure that all the compressed air generated by the gearbox is translated into effect downrange.
Supplied with an AOE correcting spacer as well as special weight pads which allow for tuning for optimal performance with various weights of ammo, as you will receive it, the Power piston head is configured perfectly for the GORA internal setup and the G&G Armament 0.28g BBs the Bolster Armouries team recommend.

To add the prerequisite stylistic enhancement a Bolster Armouries platform deserves, the team selected the RetroArms CNC Trigger finished in striking metallic red. This snazzy, ported trigger is flawlessly machined and significantly weight-reduced, with a smooth front surface and bevelled edges to reduce finger fatigue as you hammer the enemy team with brisk semi-auto fire.
RetroArms is an extremely well-regarded brand in Airsoft, famed for its precise machining and ultra-strong gearbox shells and HOP-up units. Offering a custom aesthetic and luxurious, high-end feel, the only area in which the RetroArms CNC Trigger does not compare to the Gate NOVA Trigger used in the ONYX is its travel length. As such, Bolster Armouries commissioned the "Trigger Restrictor" which shortens the trigger travel to optimal double-tap territory!

The RetroArms 14.5 Steel Tooth piston is comprised of two parts, combined to provide the best compromise between keeping the weight low, and the rigidity high. The piston body is constructed from fibre reinforced polymer, providing ample strength to resist the strain from rapid cycling while keeping excess weight to a minimum.
The piston teeth which mesh with the steel sector gear are constructed from high carbon steel to provide the rigidity required for long term use alongside the 13:1 high-speed gearset revolving at an incredible rate under spring tension. Despite its steel tooth rack, the RetroArms piston weighs a mere 16g, keeping it well within the design parameters of the upgraded GORA gearbox.
Bolster Armouries Premium M120 AEG Spring - Ferrosilicochrome with Zinc coating

The Bolster Armouries M120 spring is constructed from SiCr Alloy (also known as Ferrosilicochrome), with a zinc coating to discourage corrosion. This Alloy is well known for its use in manufacturing springs for the automotive industry and many others requiring static torsion loaded springs with high corrosion resistance.
The spring is a non-linear design, reducing strain on the gearbox by varying the coil tension over the course of compressing the spring. This means the spring design takes advantage of the points in the cycle of the AEG where the piston is in the best position to handle the high strain, such as the midpoint while reducing the initial load on the piston teeth.
This M120 spring has closed and flattened ends which reduce wear on the piston, and minimize the chance of it failing. The Bolster Team had these springs made this way in order to reduce the strain on the internal components in the high speed GORA gearbox whilst providing the necessary velocity for game-dominating performance out on the field.
Bolster Armouries AK Trigger Restrictor - 3D Printed Resin 100% Infill

The Bolster Armouries Trigger Restrictor was conceived from scratch by the team to give the GORA a super snappy trigger, just like the ONYX. While the flawlessly tuned internal parts raise the trigger response to practically instantaneous, AK platforms suffer from a lack of adjustable triggers on the aftermarket, meaning by default, AK triggers have more overtravel than suits a Bolster Armouries platform.
Made from 3D-printed resin printed with 100% infill, the Trigger Restrictor reduces the trigger overtravel to practically nothing, meaning no energy is wasted pulling the trigger further than it needs to be. This means double and triple taps are faster and easier to pull off, resulting in higher hit probability against moving targets and game-dominating firepower in close-quarters environments.
Not being content with simple functionality, the team subjected the Trigger Restictor to extensive destruction testing, including using all their mighty strength to apply pressure to the trigger which it will never need to endure under normal use. The Trigger Restrictor withstood the tests and gained the Bolster team’s confidence that it would do its job perfectly in the long term.
Lonex Helical Pinion & Bevel Gear - Steel

Lonex Helical Bevel and Pinion gears differ from standard gears in the angle of the teeth, cut in a helix shape and designed to increase torque and efficiency. As we might expect, both the Bevel Gear and Pinion Gear are made from hardened steel, offering plenty of strength to cope with the Warhead CNC Black Brushless Motor’s insane speed and torque.
Helical gears also reduce the gearbox report, resulting in a smoother sound when fired and less wear and tear thanks to more efficient, gradual gear meshing. A bit of custom work also had to be done to install the Pinion Gear onto the Warhead Motor’s D-type shaft but we’ll cover that in the Warhead Industries CNC Black Brushless Motor section.
LCT Magwell Spacer - Steel
Aids speedy reloads - Prevents magazine over-insertion - Click for more info
To make this AK-based beast easier to handle, the team opted to add the LCT AK Magwell Spacer, a folded steel piece designed to make fast reloads much easier and prevent over-insertion of the magazine. The Magwell spacer fills the void in front of the HOP-up unit, restricting magazine insertion depth. This means you can operate the GORA quickly and easily without worrying about the fine elements of the AK reload.
With the original LCT LCK105, it was entirely possible to insert the magazine too far into the receiver, resulting in an awkward mid-firefight corrective action which costs precious seconds and could cost you a walk to regen. While this addition might not stand out from a glance at the GORA, the Magwell Spacer is an essential upgrade for in-game handling and means you can confidently reload “eyes-up” without spending hours practising!

Gate Electronics is well known amongst Airsofters for providing some of the best MOSFETs the Airsoft industry has to offer. These include the basic X-ASR which provides battery protection, the ASTER™ which adds GATE Control station App functionality, and the Gate's flagship option, the TITAN™. The TITAN™ has been around for a few years now and has performed superbly in previously released Bolster Armouries ONYX, ARKOSE and ONYX [Blackout] Platforms, making the V3 Gearbox model the perfect MOSFET for the VULKAN Advanced AK AEG.
The TITAN™ provides a plethora of functions, including trigger travel adjustment, pre-cocking, Burst mode, Binary trigger, and adaptive active braking. A total of 8 optical sensors within the TITAN™ are used to track the movement of the gears, piston, and trigger to ensure the gears complete a full cycle with each trigger pull and the gears stop exactly where they should. The TITAN™ MOSFETs installed in the Bolster Armouries VULKAN are pre-setup with the optimal settings for the platform and provide instantaneous trigger response and premium-level functionality, including protection against over-discharge of your battery, short-circuits, and overheating.
Unlike other advanced MOSFETs, the TITAN™ has remarkably low power consumption and includes a "sleep mode" which activates when the ONYX has not been fired for some time. This protects your battery in the event that you forget to disconnect it after a skirmish, whilst other MOSFETs may drain the battery entirely over time, rendering the battery useless.
The settings programmed into the TITAN™ MOSFET by the Bolster Armouries tech team have been selected to provide the absolute optimum settings for the VULKAN platform. The pre-set configuration includes pre-cocking set to medium speed for the best balance between prolonging the lifespan of the internals and providing the highly responsive trigger pre-cocking setups are known for.
A new trick up the legendary TITAN’s sleeve is its Expert firmware, now provided by default with every new Gate TITAN™ MOSFET. The Expert firmware allows for even more customisation options than ever before, but as with previous Bolster builds, the team advise you to stick to the settings they have programmed in to avoid causing undue wear and upsetting the delicate ecosystem inside the VULKAN.
Another improvement in the latest TITAN™ update from Gate is the ability for the TITAN™ to communicate with the Warhead Industries Electronic Speed Control module installed on the CNC Black Brushless Motor. This enhances electrical efficiency, improves rate of fire and allows the incredible power of the Warhead Brushless motor to be fully unleashed while keeping everything in time and avoiding excessive strain. The TITAN™ and Warhead Motor combo has always been a match made in heaven and is now better than ever before.
Warhead Industries CNC Black Brushless Motor 30K RPM - CNC Machined 7075 Aluminium housing

The motor is perhaps the most important part when it comes to providing extreme levels of performance in an Airsoft AEG, though with a faster motor comes the need to upgrade other internal components to prevent premature failure. In a home build, this often results in an "arms race" of parts so to speak, as whenever a part is upgraded it will require another part to be upgraded to prevent damage and maximize the AEG's potential.
The Bolster Armouries tech team is confident that their gearbox internals are the best available, and the only motor option that provides the speed, smooth running, and longevity to get the most out of the other enhanced parts would be the Warhead Industries Ultra High Speed motor. Known for their innovation and pushing the limits of Airsoft performance, Warhead Industries provides the best Airsoft motor around; utilizing the most up-to-date technology to provide a previously unheard of torque to weight ratio, and impressive heat dispersion.
The Warhead motor is housed inside a CNC machined 7075 aluminium shell with ribs machined in to reduce heat build-up within the motor, avoiding one of the primary causes of motor failure with their pioneering design. Utilizing "brushless" motor technology, the Warhead Ultra High Speed motor is considerably quieter than a standard motor, and uses superior quality Neodymium magnets combined with a hand-wound, temperature-resistant copper stator wind to provide its incredible 30,000 revolutions per minute cyclic rate.
Conventional brushed motors suffer immensely from heat build-up when operated for more than 30 seconds continuously, due to the high internal friction generated. In a brushless motor, the main source of heat build-up is simply friction with the air which can be kept at a manageable level for far longer. With the Warhead motor installed, your trigger finger will get tired far sooner than your VULKAN AEG will!
While it might not be immediately obvious, the Bolster Armouries tech team used the Long Shaft version of the Warhead motor rather than the Short shaft model intended for AK AEGs. The shaft was then shortened and refinished to allow the "O-type" Lonex Helical Pinion Gear to be fitted correctly on the "D-type" motor shaft. While tests were carried out with the short shaft version and these were successful, the team opted for a bit more custom work to ensure the long-term durability and seamless compatibility of the two parts.
The Warhead CNC Black motor also includes an Electronic Speed Control (ESC) module, which is hidden beneath a CNC-machined aluminium cover at the base of the motor. This circuit controls and regulates the speed of the motor whilst providing low voltage cut-off and over-current-draw protection, providing an additional level of safety for your high performance Bolster Armouries VULKAN. As mentioned, the ESC can now communicate with the Gate TITAN™ MOSFET, meaning better electrical efficiency and improved long-term durability.

Magazines
The PTS TPM-AK Magazines included with the Bolster Armouries VULKAN platform require the very strong internal spring to be bedded in before use. To do this, simply fill the magazines using a standard speed loader (avoid using an ODIN or similar crank wound loader) and empty them again by pulling the BB retainer on the top of the magazine backwards with the feed/fill port pointed in a safe direction, preferably back into your BB bottle. Do this 2-3 times for each magazine before the initial use.
Battery
During the testing process, the Bolster Armouries techs found that the VULKAN platform performs at its peak when using 11.1V 20C LiPo batteries. The use of a battery with a lower discharge rate (C rating) may cause FPS fluctuation issues and a drop in performance, and this is not considered a fault under the Bolster Armouries warranty. Please carefully consider which battery you use in the VULKAN; with this level of internal precision, a 30K motor and a TITAN™ MOSFET installed the AEG will require a very specific battery setup to perform at its best.

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
