Description
AUGs always have a unique futuristic styling to them and this one is no exception! With modern ergonomic features, ambidextrous controls and ultra slick quick disassembly, the real steel rifle was designed way back in 1977! Known as the STG 77 in Austrian service, the AUG went on to serve with numerous armed forces and police units around the world and was manufactured under license in Australia as the F88 Austeyr, which also served in the New Zealand armed forces and was later developed into the Lithgow F90, the next generation of Aussie AUG.
The Snow Wolf AUG Para Railed Bullpup AEG comes with a host of even more unique features, making this AUG variant even more interesting. Being a 'Para' style design it features a short front end while still packing a 12.5 inch barrel within, and has a total length of a mere 62cm in length. This is the inherent advantage of the backwards rifle; you get a CQB length rifle with a full-length barrel and can do both jobs with a single gun. So let's get into it, shall we?
Starting at the front of the rifle, we can see that e outer barrel of the AUG is equipped with 14mm CCW male threading, which means that if fancy adding another tactical muzzle device such as a tracer or suppressor, you've got the option to. Following the flash hider, we have the front 20mm RIS rail, which is unusual for the average AUG. Unlike most with integrated folding foregrips, this AUG gives you the option to attach any foregrip you wish to or even other tactical devices such as lasers and torches, depending on your playstyle. But if you just want to get shooting without any prior tinkering, this package comes included with a removable foregrip, which can be adjusted along the rail, aiding in tailoring your foregrip to your size. Of course, using the foregrip will be a boon for sturdy aiming and picking off those further away targets, because bullpups are tricksters, they may look short, but conceal that coveted longer barrel for longer range shooting!
Just like the real AUG, the Snow Wolf has a hot swap barrel system. This means you can quickly remove the outer barrel either for maintenance or to swap between barrel lengths. To remove the outer barrel you will need to lock the charging handle back and up into its "safety notch" and push and hold the catch found on the left side of the receiver, between the folding front grip and the trigger guard. With the barrel removal catch held down, the barrel can be rotated by just a few degrees clockwise with the barrel facing away, and you can pull the entire outer barrel out. The external section of the outer barrel is constructed from alloy, and the section inside the receiver is constructed from polymer, coloured in sleek black.
Moving rearwards and upwards, we come to the top rail. Again, unusual for an AUG, this variant comes with a length 33cm RIS rail in lieu of the usual integrated scope, atop which sits removable and adjustable ironsights to keep things a little more old school, which the option, of course, to attach the optics of your choice. Similarly to other modern AUG designs, on the right hand side, this variant features a smaller 6cm RIS rail at a 45 degree angle. This extra rail is perfect for installing other tactical devices such as torches or lasers to keep you adaptive in any combat situation.
Over on the left side of the upper the charging handle of the AUG is housed. Constructed from high-density polymer, it connects to an aluminium rod inside the receiver which actuates the mock bolt, which reveals the rotary HOP-up adjuster inside the ejection port when pulled back. The charging handle can be locked by pulling it to its rearmost point of travel and rotating it upwards into its "safety notch", which will hold the mock bolt back whilst you adjust your HOP-up. The adjustable HOP-up lets you tune the AUG for different ammo weights and provides an extended range by applying backspin to each BB. An advantage of the AUG, over something like an M4 is that the HOP is revealed on either side of the rifle, when the handle is pulled and the rubber caps are removed, making for a more ambidextrous experience.
The ambidextrous nature of the AUG continues with the safety latch, which is easily accessed from either side of the rifle with, both the thumb and forefinger. AUG users enjoy controlling a rifle a little differently than your average gun, with the safety being a push-through button, as opposed to a standard flat fire select. Located just above the pistol grip, the button is on safe when the button protrudes to the right hand side and pushing the safety to the left will release the trigger lock. The AUG makes use of a two-stage trigger system, which means a short pull of the trigger will fire semi-automatic, and a full pull to the rear will fire fully automatic. This means if you need to suddenly put a burst down range to deal with a moving target it is faster to switch modes with this AUG than practically any other AEG out there.
The grip and stock of the AUG are integrated into one piece as a part of its space-age design, known as the "chassis" of the rifle. Being of one continuous piece, the receiver and stock are especially robust and sturdy, constructed from high-density reinforced polymer complete with a high quality smooth texture. This modernisation of the AUG includes raised textured panels on either side of the grip and on the butt stock itself to assist in wet weather use.
The AUG features an enlarged trigger guard, which is more akin to your actual grip length than the average rifle. Largely responsible for the AUG's recognisable silhouette, it allows fast access to the trigger, so if you use thick gloves when skirmishing, the AUG's got you covered. This trigger guard can also do double duty as an angled foregrip for use in compressed stances in CQB situations.
The magazine release of the AUG can be found on the bottom of the stock, just behind the magazine well, and is centrally positioned to allow for ambidextrous use. Ahead of its time, this mag release was one of the first modern bullpup rifles to enter the market and the AUG nailed it first time!. Unlike the Tavor there is no chance that you will accidentally hit the mag release and dump your magazine, and unlike the L85 you don't have to be purebred right-handed to operate it efficiently.
Boasting a wealth of impressive internals, the Snow Wolf AUG comes with a Version 3 gearbox, which is stronger and more capable than Version 2 gearboxes and can handle more stress intensive parts such as stronger springs, so if you ever fancy upgrading the AUG down the line, you have that option. The gearbox also includes 7mm bearing bushings, reinforced steel gears, a reinforced piston with a directional piston head and a bearing-equipped spring guide, guaranteeing smooth running and a longer life than previous generations. The long inner barrel of this compact AEG also lends itself to superb performance, and the rotary style AUG HOP-up unit is known to be one of the best out there and formed the basis for the rotary unit found in more recent M4/AR15 AEG releases.
So if you're looking for something a bit different, or maybe you'd want to try a rifle in bullpup configuration, maybe you can be converted. Certainly more unique than your average M4s, the compact bullpup design still allows for a long barrel to facilitate both long range and close range CQB combat. The AUG also boasts impressive internals, as well as even weight distribution and lengthy top rail with adjustable ironsights. It may be a bit of a 'Marmite' design, but the AUG will always see you right in combat.

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
