Description
Performance-focused skirmishers will love this one! The WELL PRO WE07 M4/AR-15 DSG AEG; Kestrel Basic ETU is constructed predominantly from high density polymer with an alloy outer barrel and buffer tube, maintaining a lightweight build for pure speed in game. While the build is rock solid, agile and as light as a beach ball, the real magic is inside!
The internals of the WE07 really are something else, especially when it comes to rate of fire. Ripping out at an astonishing 30 rounds per second thanks to an 11.1V LiPo-ready build and 9:1 ratio Dual Sector Gear (DSG) gear set, this lightweight M4 is a wolf in sheep's clothing and the perfect platform for speedy skirmishers!
A DSG gear set effectively doubles the rate of fire when compared to a standard 18:1 ratio set, providing two cycles for the compression (cylinder) group per single cycle of the gears. DSG builds are usually only accessible to experienced techs, requiring a lot of tuning to get feeding correctly and keep things reliable. Thankfully, WELL PRO has done the hard work for you!
Adding a sprinkle of tech to this high-speed beast, the Kestrel Basic ETU offers programmable fire modes including 3-round burst and binary trigger, adjustable pre-cocking, active braking, cycle completion, low battery warning and low/high voltage protection. Put simply, the Kestrel keeps your gearbox cycling at maximum efficiency and with pre-cocking set, provides an incredibly snappy trigger response ideally suited to rapid double taps. Paired with the pre-installed 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel and rotary HOP-up unit, the WELL PRO WE07 M4/AR-15 DSG AEG; Kestrel Basic ETU is the performance focussed player's best friend!
Starting at the tip of the 10.5-inch alloy outer barrel we can find a birdcage style which attaches to the barrel's 14mm CCW male threaded tip. This birdcage is quite unique, found on the WELL PRO WE06 PPK-20 but not currently available as a separate part. While it looks fantastic as it is, the 14mm CCW male threaded barrel means if you want to add a suppressor or tracer unit you can without the need for any additional adapters.
The handguard of the WE07 measures 9.5 inches in length and offers a 20mm Picatinny rail at the 12 o'clock position along with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, with additional slots at offset angles. The upper rail mates seamlessly with the receiver rail, allowing for optical sight setups of any length to be mounted, including red dot sight and magnifier combinations. The use of M-LOK negative space attachment slots makes the front end super light and agile, allowing for speedy target-to-target transitions and flawless handling.
Constructed from high density polymer with angled surfaces, the WE07 receiver is rocking the "billet" aesthetic, mimicking real enhanced AR-15 receivers constructed from a single block of aluminium. The finish on the receiver is consistent and strong enough to resist scratches more effectively than most metal receivers and the polymer feels as solid as a rock! The benefit of a polymer receiver over an alloy one is its low weight and damage resistance; perfect for aggressive, fast-moving playstyles!
The fire selector is also ambidextrous and the switch is found just above the pistol grip, offering 3 modes of fire with a 90-degree throw between each. The default fire modes are safe, semi-auto and full auto but with the pre-installed Kestrel Basic ETU, you have the option of using binary trigger instead of semi and 3-round burst instead of full auto. The 3-round burst mode is a fantastic choice for a high-speed DSG platform, allowing you to keep your ammo-hungry WE07 under control so you can stay in the fight longer!
The charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver and is an ambidextrous design for easy access from either side. Pulling the charging handle back will pop the dust cover open and retract the black-finished mock bolt, revealing the rotary HOP-up unit on the right side. The HOP-up allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your projectiles and tune the WE07 for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory.
Up top, we have a 20mm Picatinny receiver rail, ready for your choice of red dot sight or scope. A set of polymer flip-up iron sights are pre-installed, offering windage and elevation adjustment in a lightweight and compact package. The sights can be flipped up easily by hand and if you need all of your rail space you can remove them easily via the Allen bolts on the right side. The rear sight offers the choice of two aiming apertures; one finer aperture for bright conditions and accurate semi-auto fire and a wider one for low light and furious full auto bursts.
Moving down to the lower receiver we can take note of the textured ergonomic pistol grip and its comfortable and grippy dot texturing on either side. This ensures that even when sprinting hard in wet conditions, your WE07 stays firmly in your hands as long as you do your part. The grip has a filled-out backstrap and a slightly more vertical angle than the usual which pairs perfectly with the adjustable PDW stock, reducing wrist fatigue when shooting with the stock fully collapsed in tight quarters.
The trigger is right where we would hope to find it, inside the standard flat M4/AR-15 trigger guard. A flat "speed" style trigger with a small finger ledge, this trigger is perfect for the super-speedy WE07 with its stunning trigger response; letting you slap away at it without slipping off, putting down some game-winning firepower in CQB or outdoors.
At the very back of the receiver, we can find an ambidextrous "CQD" type sling plate, which allows a single-point sling to be used with the rifle and installed on either the left or right side. This sling plate is constructed from steel, ensuring the substantial strength required to support the weight of the WE07, even if you make maximum use of its many attachment interfaces.
Moving to the rear, we can find a 6-position M4/AR15 buffer tube, constructed from alloy to keep the platform strong and durable. The crane battery stock runs on this buffer tube and can be adjusted to any of the 6 positions by holding down the textured adjustment lever on the bottom of the stock and adjusting it to the desired length.
The battery compartment is inside the crane stock, accessible by squeezing the two tabs at the toe of the stock together, after which you can lift the butt plate off and make use of the stock's built-in battery compartment to house a nunchuck/crane-style battery. We recommend an 11.1V 1450mAh LiPo battery in crane/nunchuck configuration for an easy fit and that enemy-shredding 11.1V performance!
Inside, the WE07 is remarkably well equipped for the price, boasting a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel to enhance accuracy paired with a rotary HOP-up unit. The obvious highlight of the build is its 9:1 ratio DSG gearset, providing an absolutely incredible 30 rounds per second firing rate in fully automatic mode. The impressive speed of the DSG gearset translates directly to semi-automatic trigger response, resulting in a super snappy trigger your finger will never be able to outrun!
The icing on the cake of this speedy DSG is its Kestrel Basic ETU/MOSFET, offering 6 levels of adjustable pre-cocking, options for 3 round burst and binary trigger along with low battery warning, cycle completion, active braking and low/high voltage cutoff. For a platform at this price, the WE07 packs an impressive amount of functionality into a high quality yet lightweight polymer package!
If you feel the need...the need for speed, the WELL PRO WE07 M4/AR-15 DSG AEG; Kestrel Basic ETU will be an asset to your arsenal. An uncompromising build designed to run rings around its rivals, the WE07 brings the pre-requisite WELL PRO DSG tempo to the M4/AR-15 platform!
