WELL PRO WE06 PPK-20 Compact SMG AEG - Advanced Version

If you like your super speedy platforms, the WE06 PPK-20 Compact Advanced Version definitely has the pace you require. Bought to you by WELL PRO, the same team behind the phenomenal WE23-S Rotary Minigun, the WE06 Advanced Version hits out at an astonishing 25 rounds per second thanks to its combination of a high-speed motor, optical MOSFET and 9:1 ratio high-speed DSG gears.

DSG Stands for Dual Sector Gear which essentially means for every rotation of the gearset, the piston cycles twice and the rate of fire is effectively doubled. Building your own DSG setup requires a lot of tuning and faffing to get it running just right, but thankfully, WELL PRO offers the DSG life to even those of us without the extensive technical know-how required to build one.

This isn't the only perk of the Advanced Version; it is also packing a programmable optical MOSFET which allows for 3-round burst or binary trigger. With a rate of fire like this, binary is absolutely ridiculous, and although you may not be allowed to use it in CQB, binary is a great way to improve hit probability for those long range shots without wasting ammo!

Starting at the front, we can find a birdcage style PPK-20 flash hider constructed from high density polymer mounted to 14mm CCW male barrel threads. The aggressive, squat look of this flash hider really suits the CQB styling of the PPK-20 Compact but can be replaced with a tracer unit or suppressor should the mission require it. The flash hider is retained via a grub screw, so make sure you remove this before attempting to unscrew the flash hider.

Next up, we reach the handguard which is an M-LOK/20mm Picatinny hybrid design with a combination of M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions and 20mm Picatinny rails at the top and bottom. This means you are ready to mount any 20mm Picatinny vertical or angled foregrip to improve handling and also have plenty of room on each side to add M-LOK rail covers, flashlight mounts or other mission-essential equipment. The handguard is also comfortably shaped with gripping texture on the flanks, meaning if you don't want to add rail covers you will still have plenty of traction when steering the platform between targets.

Moving rearwards, we come to the receiver which looks familiar at a glance but is considerably enhanced. The receiver follows the AK shape and rough layout but adds an ambidextrous fire selector positioned just above the pistol grip, bringing this AK-derived platform into line with modern shooting doctrine. On the right side, you will see a steel plate which replaces the original AK fire selector and links to a more modern selector switch via a cam mechanism.

This new selector is present on each side, offering 3 modes of fire; Safe, semi-auto and full auto, all denoted with recessed Cyrillic markings. Unlike your standard AK, the PPK-20 has the standard order of fire modes, meaning a short throw from safe to semi-auto with full auto in the final position. Being the Advanced Version of the PPK-20 Compact, this AEG's optical MOSFET system also allows for programming 3 round burst in place of full auto and binary trigger in place of semi-auto, giving you some extra advanced features which pair perfectly with the DSG internals.

The improvements don't end here either, the pistol grip installed on the PPK-20 Compact is the latest design used on the most recent variants of the AK-12 assault rifle. The grip is set at a more vertical angle than the standard for improved comfort and reduced wrist fatigue when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and features a built-in enlarged trigger guard for easy access to the trigger when wearing gloves. With stylish linear texture on each side, this grip both suits the ultra-modern aesthetic of the platform and feels fantastic; a considerable step up from the standard AK grip!

Ahead of the grip, we can find the built-in magazine well extension designed for 9mm style PP-19 magazines with the standard centrally positioned AK paddle magazine release. This is one part of the AK which doesn't need changing; the mag release is easy to reach for both left and right-handed shooters, prominent enough to find but low profile enough to avoid snags and functional with the iconic AK "mag flip" emergency reload. As with most AKs, the mag release is constructed from steel, guaranteeing reliable locking in the long term.

The final receiver feature to discuss is its full length 20mm Picatinny rail, allowing red dot sights and scopes to be mounted easily, with no additional parts needed. This is a marked improvement over standard AKs and allows you to make use of modern Western optics as many Spetsnaz operators do in the modern era. The rail is also weight-reduced along the centreline and thanks to its AK-12 style top cover retention, provides a reliable zero for any optics you have mounted.

At the rear of the receiver rail, we can find the rear iron sight which is an aperture-style sight mounted on an adjustable tangent-style base. The sight can be adjusted for elevation by rotating the adjustment dial beneath the aperture, and the front sight is also adjustable using an AK sight adjustment tool. If you need all the rail space for your optics, you can remove the rear sight easily as it mounts to the receiver rail itself.

The battery compartment of the PPK-20 Compact is located beneath the receiver top cover and can be accessed via the AK-12-like disassembly lever. The lever is positioned on the right side of the rear of the handguard and needs to be rotated counterclockwise by 90 degrees, after which it can be pulled out but will remain captive in the handguard. With the lever in this position, the top cover will come free, revealing a Deans/T-Plug battery connector inside. We recommend an 11.1V 1200mAh LiPo battery in AK stick configuration with a minimum continuous discharge rate of 30C. Batteries with a lower discharge rating will still work though you may find the low-voltage cutoff function of the MOSFET prevents the gun from being fired after only a short duration of use. 

Bringing up the rear, we are treated to one of the latest advanced Russian stock designs featured on the AM-17 Assault rifle. The stock is constructed from high density polymer with a grippy serrated rubber butt plate and can be adjusted into 6 different lengths of pull so you can adjust it to suit your shooting stance, body type and loadout. Adjusting the stock is as simple as pushing the textured tab in the toe of the stock through from the left and sliding the stock out into your chosen position.

As one might expect with an AK-derived design, the stock can also be folded to the side for storage, transportation and close-quarters use. To fold the stock, simply press the prominent textured button on the top of the stock where it meets the receiver and the stock can folded to the right side of the SMG where it will lock in place. Deploying the stock from the folded position is even simpler; grab it, pull it away and slap it into place! The stock adjustment of the AM-17 stock is leaps and bounds ahead of the usual AK steel skeleton folding stock when it comes to ergonomics, tying in nicely with the overall cutting-edge design of the PPK-20 Compact.

On the inside of the PPK-20 Advanced Version, we are treated to an absolutely epic feature set, especially when you consider the price! The inner barrel is a 6.02mm tightbore, offering a slight raise in FPS and improved accuracy so you can still handle foes at range with this short-barreled platform. The HOP-up is a unique design from WELL PRO but is fully compatible with aftermarket Tokyo Marui spec nubs and rubbers for those who want even more.

The gearbox is where the Advanced Version really stands out. The shell is a unique version 3-based design with a quick-change spring system which allows you to access the spring by simply folding the stock, making power tuning super fast and easy. The gearset is a 9:1 ratio DSG setup constructed from reinforced steel mounted on 8mm slide bearings for a flawless combination of super high rate of fire with a smooth, unlaboured gearbox noise. For perfect strength and low weight, a polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack is also present, riding inside a type 2 cylinder for the perfect air volume for the PPK-20 Compact's short barrel.

Also present inside the Advanced Version is a programmable MOSFET/ETU system which uses optical sensors to allow for programmable fire controls, along with further improving the exceptional trigger response and rate of fire of the platform. The ETU allows you to set 3-round burst instead of full auto and binary trigger instead of semi-auto, allowing you to improve long-range hit probability without wasting ammo by using full auto.

Special Instructions

Mosfet Programming Instructions:

To enter programming mode: Hold the trigger in the semi-auto position for about 6-7 seconds with your battery connected and the magazine removed. The replica will then enter programming mode. We advise wearing eye protection and pointing the replica in a safe direction throughout this process.

Folder selection:
We have 3 Folders at our disposal. Which folder you are accessing will be denoted with a series of beeps:
Folder 1: 1x Beep
Folder 2: 2x Beep
Folder 3: 3x Beep

The MOSFET will scroll between these three folders when in programming mode. To select a folder, wait for the series of beeps denoting your chosen folder, then pull and hold the trigger.

Folder 1 controls the semi-auto fire selector position. The available modes are semi-automatic and binary trigger.

Folder 2 controls the full-auto fire selector position. The available modes are fully automatic and 3-round burst.

Folder 3 controls the Pre-cocking condition. The available modes are Pre-cocking off and Pre-cocking level 1.

Each folder includes 2 programmable modes. Once you have entered your chosen folder, the MOSFET will scroll between each mode, indicated by a series of beeps.

Folder 1 - Fire selector position 1

• Mode 1 - One Beep: Semi
• Mode 2 - Two Beeps: Binary

Folder 2 - Fire selector position 2

• Mode 1 - One Beep: Full Auto
• Mode 2 - Two Beeps: 3-Round Burst

Folder 3 - Pre-cocking level

• Mode 1 - One Beep: Pre-cocking OFF
• Mode 2 - Two Beeps: Pre-cocking level 1
• Mode 3, 4 & 5: Higher Pre-cocking levels. These are NOT suitable for this DSG setup and will cause premature failure. Programming the MOSFET for modes 3, 4 or 5 constitutes user error and is not covered by our warranty.

When your chosen mode is indicated by the number of beeps shown above, pull and hold the trigger. The MOSFET will confirm your mode selection by beeping again the number of times indicated above.

Once you have completed the programming process, the MOSFET will exit programming mode automatically.
