Based on the original MB03, a close copy of the TM VSR-10, the AE version is upgraded on the inside with a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, a steel spring guide, 90-degree piston/trigger sear set and reinforced steel parts throughout the trigger group.

This makes the MB03AE robust enough internally to handle higher power springs, though the pre-installed APS-2 spec mainspring puts out an impressive 412 FPS approximately with 0.2g BBs. Externally, the MB03AE is simple and functional, equipped with a 20mm Picatinny receiver rail for your scope, front and rear sling points and a 20mm Picatinny bipod rail on the bottom, ready to be kitted out sniper rifle style. A spiral-fluted aluminium outer barrel adds a bit of visual interest and style to make it stand out next to the original MB03 and the reprofiled bolt handle ensures you don't scrape your knuckles on your optic when working the bolt.

As far as entry-level sniper rifles go, the MB03AE is a cut above the rest and boasts a fantastic quality polymer stock with a textured finish, indicating fibre reinforcement. Description

If you're looking for an affordable sniper rifle which is ready to rock, the WELL PRO MB03AE Bolt Action Sniper Rifle; Upgraded Version is a fine choice. Based on the original MB03 which is itself based on the legendary VSR-10 from Tokyo Marui, this WELL PRO version is pre-upgraded internally with a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, 90° trigger and piston set, steel spring guide and other steel parts, readying it for high FPS, long range performance!

Internally, the MB03AE is compatible with most VSR-10 upgrade parts, though the spring is an APS2 style spring (9mm diameter). This means the sky is the limit when it comes to upgrades, though the MB03AE is already a cut above other sniper rifles in its price range!

Starting at the front, we can find the muzzle cap of the MB03AE, tightly fitted against the inner barrel to function as a barrel spacer; reducing vibration and improving accuracy downrange. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore, meaning improved efficiency which translates to a slight FPS boost along with accuracy advantages with high quality ammo. 

The outer barrel itself boasts spiral fluting, giving it the custom look straight out of the box and making the MB03AE stand out next to standard VSR rifles and the original, non-upgraded MB03. The outer barrel is constructed from flawlessly machined alloy with a high quality finish which shows through all the crisp detail of the gorgeous spiral fluting. 

Moving rearwards along the barrel, we come to the stock/chassis which is constructed from solid high density polymer with a textured finish; a far cry from the "super soaker" style shiny plastic of the original MB03. The stock is designed similarly to Remington R700 series rifles, providing the classic sniper rifle outline with a semi-pistol grip and grippy rubber butt plate for maximum wet weather traction. 

At the front bottom of the chassis, we have what is known as a “Harris lug”, designed to mount sling swivels or Harris-style bipods. The lug is equipped with a sling swivel as it comes but this can be removed via the central pin. Just behind, we have a 20mm Picatinny rail, giving you plenty of bipod mounting options. A bipod is a fantastic way to provide extra stability when shooting from the prone position. For minimalist snipers who prioritise stealth, the Harris lug can be used with the pre-installed sling loop removed and replaced with a loop of paracord for an affordable and silent sling mounting solution. 

Just to the rear of the bipod rail, we come to the magazine well and the ambidextrous push-button magazine release, centrally located for easy access from either side of the rifle. The mag release works just like the standard VSR-10, requiring a press to drop the magazine out. Each mag includes semi-circular cutouts on each side which align with those in the chassis, allowing you to remove a stuck magazine in the event your MB03AE ends up caked in mud!

On the left side of the chassis between it and the outer barrel, we can find the slider HOP-up adjuster, positioned in the same spot as the original VSR-10. The HOP-up allows you to adjust the backspin applied to each BB and tune your effective range with different ammo weights, seeking the flattest possible trajectory. The HOP-up internals, including the inner barrel and HOP-up bucking, are VSR-10 compatible, giving you access to all the best HOP-up buckings on the market!

Moving rearwards, we come to the receiver which is constructed from alloy with a 20mm Picatinny rail up top. This rail is the full rail type, designed for optics which use separate scope rings or dual ring mounts. The teeth are spaced slightly differently than standard 20mm Picatinny so we recommend sticking with separate rings to ensure you get your scope mounted in the exact right spot. 

Being a bolt action sniper rifle, the MB03AE's bolt protrudes from the right side of the rifle, at the rear of the receiver. Cocking requires the bolt to be rotated upwards, pulled all the way to the rear, pushed forward again and rotated back into place, just like other bolties. The bolt handle itself is profiled to provide space between your optic and hand, avoiding scraping your knuckles on your scope every time you work the bolt. 

Below the receiver and action, we have the curved VSR-style trigger and polymer trigger guard, designed in the classic R700 style. The trigger pull is short and light, with very little creep before the MB03AE goes bang! This is due to the pre-installed 90° trigger/piston set, giving you the ability to use strong springs without an extremely heavy trigger pull. 

Behind the trigger guard, we come to what is known as a "Semi-pistol-grip", the traditional gripping location for bolt action rifles. The grip is set at a comfortable angle for shooting both prone and standing and the textured finish of the stock aids handling qualities so you can keep the rifle firmly in your hands in all weather, with or without gloves.

The stock itself is relatively featureless, as is convention for R700-style rifles in their traditional form. At the toe of the stock, we are treated to a second Harris lug equipped with a sling swivel. This means you can mount a two-point rifle sling right away, allowing you to easily switch to your sidearm without dropping your primary. The butt plate is constructed from thick and grippy rubber to keep the MB03AE firmly in your shoulder regardless of the weather conditions. 

Inside, the MB03AE has been tricked out by WELL PRO, making it a massive step up from the previously released standard version. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore, giving a slight FPS boost and super accuracy when used with high quality, heavy-weight BBs. The trigger group has also been enhanced with a 90° trigger sear and reinforced steel parts, ensuring this beast can go the distance with high FPS. The piston is CNC machined from aluminium and sealed to the piston head to reduce air leaks and the cylinder is made from stainless steel to ensure the bolt pull is nice and smooth. 

Almost all internal parts are VSR-10 spec, meaning plenty of upgrade options if you want even more! The spring is APS2 spec (9mm diameter) and the HOP-up bucking is VSR/GBB spec, giving you access to all the best options from the almost unlimited HOP-up bucking aftermarket!

Special Instructions

The WELL PRO MB03AE Bolt Action Sniper Rifle; Upgraded Version is not supplied pre-built and will require assembly. This is relatively easy but is not explained clearly in the included user manual. 

  • First, lower the action into the chassis with the barrel slightly raised, indexing the extension at the rear of the trigger guard into the slot inside the stock. 
  • With this done, push the action down into the chassis until it touches the barrel at the front, taking care to ensure the magazine release assembly is aligned with the button on the outside of the chassis. 
  • With the action positioned in the chassis, the two screws included in the set can be installed. Unlike other sniper rifles, the longer screw goes in the centre of the chassis and the shorter screw goes in the rear screw-hole for the 20mm bipod rail at the front. Please take care not to overtighten these screws; this can cause damage to the internals.

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
