The PDW style of rifle is extremely popular, its compact size allows you to carry it easier and take tighter angles whilst out on the battlefield. Its minimalistic stock cuts down on weight whilst not compromising the overall durability of the platform. They are often regarded as a happy medium between a standard rifle and an SMG. Providing improved ballistic capabilities whilst still maintaining a smaller size overall.

Starting at the front of the platform, you can find a pre-installed SLR-style compensator, serving as a sound amplifier in Airsoft terms. The sound amp really makes the Machete SBR pop, and by pop we mean boom! While the sound amp looks fantastic and really suits the compact nature of the platform, the 14mm CCW male barrel threading means you can add a tracer or suppressor if the mission requires it. It goes without saying, a tracer unit would be well suited to this CQB optimised build!

Moving rearwards, you will find the BCM-licensed M-LOK handguard made from aluminium using CNC machining, guaranteeing that the attachment slots and rails are in flawless form. The M-LOK slots are present at the 3, 6 & 9 o'clock positions with a 20mm Picatinny rail up top. The benefit of a modern M-LOK handguard is that in its slick configuration, the handguard is lightweight and surprisingly ergonomic, meaning you don't need to add rail covers to avoid the discomfort as you might with a 20mm quad rail.

Next up we reach the receiver, which is instantly recognizable as the common M4/AR-15 configuration, with its controls laid out in a considerate and ergonomic manner, allowing this platform to be manipulated quickly and instinctively by veterans, or learned rapidly by new users. It also features the added benefit of some ambidextrous controls.

The fire selector lever can be found just above the pistol grip on either side of this rifle, and provides 3 modes of fire, SAFE, SEMI, and AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each. The fire modes are helpfully marked in recessed text on the receiver and the selector switch locks positively into each mode with the help of texture on its surface to guarantee you can stay in control of your fire modes. The magazine release is also ambidextrous and found on both sides of the magazine well.

The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver, pulling it back will pop open the dust cover and reveal the mock bolt carrier. The mock bolt carrier will lock to the rear, allowing access to the rotary HOP-up unit. This unit is constructed from alloy for increased strength, allowing you to tune the Machete SBR for your chosen ammo weight. Once your adjustment is complete, slap the "ping pong paddle" bolt catch on the left side to send the mock bolt home with a satisfying "clank".

The pistol grip of this VFC Avalon Machete SBR PDW M4/AR-15 AEG is a replica of the real steel BCM grip. Its stippled design provides aggressive gripping properties for both gloved and ungloved users. Your handling of this AEG is sure to be precise as the grip will quite literally stick to your hands when you're out on the battlefield!

The compact PDW stock of this platform allows it to be stowed in much smaller spaces and used in a much more compressed shooting stance. The stock is primarily constructed from polymer with steel stock bars for additional strength. The adjustment lever can be found on the bottom of the battery compartment and allows the user to extend the stock between 3 positions, depending on your body type and the scenario.

The battery compartment can be found within the buffer tube, which is secured via plastic caps. This AEG is equipped with a Deans connector and we recommend the Specna Arms 7.4V 600mAh 20/40C Battery for PDW as it will fit, however, due to its small size it's best to bring two of these to your skirmishes so you will have enough battery power to play all day!

Inside the Machete SBR we find a version 2 gearbox equipped with 18:1 ration gears and 8mm bearings. Along with this, we also have a Maple Leaf 6.04 Precision Barrel with a Maple Leaf Hop-Up bucking, providing an accurate and consistent performance BB after BB. Also included is a Gate ASTER SX MOSFET which boasts programmable fire controls through the Gate Control Station app, Gate Blu-Link or Gate USB Link, adjustable pre-cocking for a ferocious trigger response in semi-auto, cycle timing control, adaptive active braking, adjustable trigger sensitivity and voltage control.
