Umarex GLOCK 17 Gen.5 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol; MOS

The UMAREX GLOCK 17 Gen.5 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol; MOS is a fantastic hybrid of the Airsoft and Airgun worlds, providing incredible recoil and high FPS using standard 6mm Airsoft BBs. That said, this beast is more than a tad too hot to skirmish with, hitting out at an impressive 400 FPS approximately using 0.2g BBs. This means it makes one heck of a target shooter, delivering enough energy to knock down steel popper targets designed for Airguns with exciting, realistic blowback action and high gas efficiency compared to Airsoft Glocks. If you're more of a backyard plinker than a skirmisher, this is the Glock replica for you!

Starting at the front, we have detailed mock rifling inside the muzzle, designed to add to the realistic looks and conceal the brass inner barrel inside. This makes the GLOCK 17 Gen.5 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol a great prop for photoshoots or videos, adding to its non-skirmishing usefulness! Being a fair bit cheaper than Airsoft Glock replicas, this would also make a fantastic wall hanger or display piece, boasting licenced markings and flawless looks. 

The slide is constructed from alloy and a flawless match for the real steel Glock 17 Gen.5 MOS, equipped with white dot and U open iron sights, forward slide serrations and of course, licenced Glock trademarks. The markings on the left side read "GLOCK 17 Gen 5" followed by "AUSTRIA", followed by "9x19". On the right side, we have the serial number on both the slide and chamber, with a small Glock logo just below and to the rear of the detailed mock extractor. The top of the chamber includes more markings, with an additional Glock logo, 9x19 calibre marking and proof marks, a perfect match for the latest generation of real steel Glock. 

At the rear of the slide, we are treated to an optics-ready cutout in this, the MOS (Modular Optic System) version. The pre-installed blanking plate can be removed via two Allen bolts and replaced with a UMAREX Glock Optic Plate (available separately). Adding a micro red dot sight makes this Glock even more fun to plink with, giving you faster target acquisition and a configuration in line with the most modern police and military-issue Glock pistols. 

Moving down to the frame, we can find a 20mm pistol rail at the front, ideally suited to laser aiming devices or tactical flashlights. Recessed inside the rail, we can find the trigger lock safety, revealing a red enamel dot when the pistol is ready to fire or a white enamel dot when in safe mode. The safety can be slid back and forth to switch between safe and fire and is ideal for locking the trigger when the pistol is stored, preventing any curious fingers from hurting themselves!

The trigger guard matches the real Glock perfectly, with a recurved front face ideal for recoil control when shooting with the European grip and additional texture for optimal traction. The trigger itself is a close match for the real Glock, with a central blade which functions as a safety device and needs to be pressed in before firing. Above the trigger on each side, we have realistic mock disassembly levers which don't function but are nonetheless an essential part of a realistic Glock replica. 

Moving on to the grip, we can find square dot texture on either side, just like the real Glock Gen.5 series. The rear of the grip includes a lanyard mounting port, ideal for a retention lanyard so your pistol doesn't go missing. The magazine release is the enlarged gen.4/5 style, meaning it is well within reach, even for those with smaller hands. The slide release catch is just above, allowing you to release the slide after it locks back on an empty magazine. The ambidextrous slide release catch on the right side is unfortunately non-functional but is included to complete the realistic Gen.5 build. 

On each side of the grip, we have yet more Glock trademarks. The left side features the iconic Glock logo, and over on the right we have "Officially Licenced Product of Glock" in raised text moulded into the grip. As we might expect for a Gen.5 Glock replica, the sides of the grip are slightly widened at the bottom, intended to function similar to a flared magazine well extension, allowing for easier eyes-up reloads and more intuitive operation under pressure. 

Performance-wise, the GLOCK 17 Gen.5 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol; MOS is, as the name implies, strictly for target shooting due to its spicy FPS. On the chronograph, this thing hits out at approximately 400 FPS on 0.2g BBs but is more consistent than most Airsoft Glocks, ideal for printing tight groupings at close range. While it may not have a HOP-up, accuracy is very good, though this is limited to relatively close ranges due to the laws of physics! 

As far as the firing experience goes, the jarring recoil and super snappy action of this Glock replica make it very exciting to shoot, even if you're used to Airsoft Glocks. The slide returns very quickly and the muzzle report is extremely loud, giving it more than its fair share of perks despite not being suitable for Airsoft skirmishes. The magazine holds 14 rounds and you can use the same 6mm Airsoft BBs used for skirmishing, though the Target Shooting Glock series is not compatible with standard Airsoft Glock GBB magazines.
