If you're working on a Lone Survivor (2013) or US Army grenadier loadout, the Specna Arms SA-G01 ONE™ M4A1 w/ M203 Launcher; Kestrel Basic ETU is one to watch. Boasting full metal construction and a pre-installed M203 40mm MOSCART grenade launcher, this M4A1 replica is a perfect match for US Army issue M4A1 rifles from the GWOT era and makes a fantastic primary for a retro SEAL or Delta Force loadout.

While we've seen the SA-G01 ONE™ before, this version is the latest, boasting a pre-installed Kestrel Basic MOSFET/ETU system. The Kestrel offers programmable fire modes and a host of quality-of-life features, bringing the old ONE™ series into line with more recent releases. These include 3-round burst and binary trigger fire mode options, adjustable pre-cocking, active braking, cycle completion, low battery warning and low/high voltage protection. Also present in this version is a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel paired with a rotary HOP-up unit, improving accuracy potential and providing the latest HOP-up design for M4/AR-15 AEGs.

Starting at the front, we can find a pre-installed birdcage flash hider concealing 14mm CCW male barrel threads beneath. This means you can add a tracer or suppressor immediately, or an alternative muzzle device to customise the looks of the SA-G01. The barrel profile matches the real M4A1 rifle perfectly, including its M203 cutout which not only completes the iconic M4A1 look but allows the pre-installed M203 grenade launcher to be mounted to the barrel for a more menacing aesthetic and maximum realism.

If you like the idea of showering the enemy with BBs with your n00b tube and quickly switching to your rifle to take down the survivors with rapid semi-auto fire, the SA-G01 ONE™ M4A1 w/ M203 Launcher; Kestrel Basic ETU is the primary you need!

The front iron sight post is adjustable for elevation using an M4/AR-15 front sight adjustment tool, and for less precise work up close it can be used as an index point for rapid aiming when there is no time for pinpoint precision. On the bottom of the front sight, we also have a bayonet lug which can be used to mount dummy M9 Bayonets when the included M203 launcher is not installed.

The M203 launcher itself is constructed primarily from alloy with a polymer handguard, just like the real thing. The launcher is designed for 40mm MOSCART grenades with a variety of payloads (available separately) and even includes mock rifling inside the bore. Loading the launcher requires the catch on the left side of the launcher to be pressed and the barrel to be slid forward, allowing a 40mm shell to be inserted. The trigger is positioned between the launcher's handguard and the magazine well with the manual safety catch just in front, all protected by a steel trigger guard. While the launcher gives this M4A1 replica impressive looks, it can be removed and replaced with the ribbed polymer lower handguard included in the box if you want to lighten the load.

The upper handguard is a ribbed M4A1 type, retained at the front by a handguard cap and at the rear by what is known as the "Delta Ring". The mock gas tube is visible through the handguard's upper vent ports, a lovely hint of realism often missed from Airsoft AR replicas. Congratulations Specna Arms, you passed the realism test! To remove the upper handguard, simply pull back on the Delta Ring between the handguard and receiver and you should be able to pull it off. The Delta Ring attachment method also allows replica 7" RAS railed handguards designed for Delta Rings to be fitted if you need more rails for your mission essentials.

The receiver should be a familiar sight to anyone who has handled an M4/AR-15 platform before, constructed from alloy and matching the real M16A4/M4A1 receiver-style perfectly. This includes the reinforced front pinhole, milspec flat trigger guard, magazine release fence and low profile charging handle latch. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well, a push-through design just like a standard M4/AR-15 AEG with a textured surface for optimal traction.

The fire selector switch is just above the pistol grip on the right side, offering 3 modes of fire with a 90-degree throw between each. The default fire modes are safe, semi-auto and full auto but with the pre-installed Kestrel Basic ETU, you have the option of using binary trigger instead of semi and 3-round burst instead of full auto. The real M16A4 used a SAFE-SEMI-3RND burst trigger group so if you want to run your SA-G01 like the real deal you have that option built in!

The charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver and as mentioned, features the milspec low-profile charging handle latch to reduce snagging potential. Pulling the charging handle back will pop the dust cover open and retract the chrome-finished mock bolt, revealing the rotary HOP-up unit on the right side. The HOP-up allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your projectiles and tune the SA-G01 for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. When you've completed your adjustments, you can slap the "ping pong paddle" style bolt release catch on the left side of the receiver to drop the mock bolt with a satisfying metal-on-metal "clank".

Up top, we have a 20mm Picatinny receiver rail with a pre-installed alloy carry handle which also contains the rear "ghost ring" iron sight. The rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation without requiring a single tool to do it, the dial on the right side adjusts windage (left to right) and the dial below the aperture controls elevation. If you prefer to run an optical sight you can loosen the thumb screws on the left side of the carry handle and remove it to access your receiver rail. As much as the carry handle is an iconic part of the M16 build, an ACOG-style optic is ideal if you're going for an "in the field" look.

The pistol grip provided on the SA-G01 is an "A2" finger-ridged type, with diamond checkering on either side and linear grooves on the rear to provide a comfortable grip. The A2 grip is exactly what an M16A4 replica needs, matching the real steel US Army and USMC-issued variant perfectly.

At the rear of the receiver, we are treated to an ambidextrous sling plate which is constructed from steel, providing ample strength to support the M4A1 with its almighty M203 on a single-point sling. This sling point can also be paired with a front sling point (available separately) if you prefer a two-point sling setup for better stability when moving with the rifle stowed.

Following the sling plate, we come to the good old AR buffer tube, constructed from alloy and offering 6 positions of stock adjustment for the pre-installed crane stock, allowing you to adjust to suit your body type perfectly. The real steel Crane stock was introduced to the M4A1 platform as part of its "SOPMOD Block 1" upgrade package and is well suited to Special Forces style M4A1 replicas, Tears of the Sun (2003) style!

The stock also serves as the battery compartment for the SA-G01 M4A1. To access the battery compartment, squeeze the two tabs at the toe of the stock together, after which you can lift the butt plate off, remove the battery plug, and make use of the stock's built-in battery compartment to house a nunchuck/crane-style battery. For the SA-G01, we recommend a 7.4V 1450mAh LiPo crane/nunchuck battery for an easy fit and great performance.

The Crane stock also includes a pair of QD sling sockets, one on each side, allowing for QD sling swivels to be added for a quick removable sling setup. Conventional sling slots (aka "footman loops") are also present for those who want a two-point sling but prefer the old-fashioned way. The butt plate is also made from grippy rubber, ensuring your M4A1 doesn't slip off your shoulder at a critical moment.

Inside the SA-G01 ONE™, we are treated to the same solid internals as the original, including 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings and a steel spring guide with Enter & Convert™ quick change spring functionality. Enter & Convert™ requires the gearbox to be removed from the receiver but doesn't require the gearbox itself to be opened, saving you hassle when it comes to power tuning and minimising expertise needed.
