Specna Arms SA-E06-H EDGE™ Carbine AEG w/Heavy Ops Stock

The Specna Arms EDGE™ series are proven platforms at this point, rocking the reinforced Specna Arms ORION™ gearbox, a rotary HOP-up unit with a tightbore inner barrel and the fantastic Gate X-ASR MOSFET pre-installed. The difference between this model and the previous SA-E06 is the addition of Specna's new Heavy Ops stock, part of their SAAS range of innovative accessories.

The Heavy Ops Stock takes cues from the usual Crane enhanced carbine stock and several other modern stock designs and combines them for perfect comfort and functionality. The Heavy Ops stock combines the low profile adjustment lever of most modern carbine stocks with the Crane stock's enlarged cheek pieces, adding rubberised texture to each side for perfect comfort and effective cheek weld. The battery compartment inside is also shaped to suit modern LiPo batteries, meaning you can fit a real beast of a battery inside the SA-E06-H without worrying about squashing the delicate LiPo cells.

The externals of the SA-E06-H, like the rest of the EDGE™ line, are made from a mix of Aluminium and Zinc Alloy which undergo a rigorous course of Sand Blasting, Powder Coating and then Anodising to achieve a world-class finish on their metal work. This finish is then protected by Specna's 'Nano Coating' finish that reduces scratches. The external trim parts of the rifle such as structural screws, body pins and sling plate are made from Steel to ensure they have the strength needed for a long life of great performance. The Polymers used throughout are of exceptional quality and feel really good in the hands, and the Pistol Grip is textured to promote grip in all conditions.

Starting at the tip of the 12.5-inch alloy outer barrel we can find an alloy birdcage flash hider, a familiar sight to most M4/AR15 users! The pre-installed birdcage flash hider can be unscrewed to reveal a 14mm CCW thread underneath, meaning if you are sick of the sight of a birdcage you aren't stuck with it! The threading allows you to mount Suppressors, Tracer Units, Muzzle Brakes or any 14mm CCW-compatible muzzle device to further enhance the looks or performance of your AEG.

On top of the handguard and at the rear of the receiver you will find the pre-installed Specna Arms BUIS (Back Up Iron Sights). The sights are easy to operate, requiring a simple press of the textured button on the top of each to deploy them from the stowed position. The sights are fully adjustable for windage and elevation, and the rear sight offers the choice of two apertures; a smaller one for long range shooting and semi-auto, and a larger aperture intended for low-light use and full-auto fire.

The handguard is a URX-style design which saves on weight by reducing the length of the side and bottom rails, leaving 20mm Picatinny rails only in the most appropriate positions. The 12 o'clock position features a full length rail, giving you plenty of space to mount an optical sight of practically any length, and the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock rails are positioned at the front, allowing for a bipod, tactical flashlight or PEQ laser to be added. The sides and bottom of the handguard are bevelled to make it easy to hold, and also have threaded holes in case you want to mount extra rails for more mission essential goodies. As the handguard meets the receiver we can find QD sling sockets on either side, allowing for a quick detach sling setup, making switching weapons mid-game that much easier.

The receiver of the SA-E06-H follows the familiar M4/AR15 format and is constructed from zinc/aluminium alloy with the Specna Arms Nanocoating finish applied, and Rock River Arms trademarks engraved on the left side of the magazine well. The finish on the receiver is smooth and consistent and is strong enough to resist scratches more effectively than a standard paint finish but thin enough to show all the details through. The trademarks are crisply engraved and visible yet discrete, elevating the realism of this EDGE™ series replica above others with white laser-etched markings.

The fire selector can be found on the left side, positioned just above the pistol grip for fast access from a firing grip. The selector provides 3 modes of fire; Safe, semi-auto and full auto, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. The modes are all indicated in classic M4/AR15 style, with engraved markings in block capitals matching real MilSpec M4 receivers. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is easily reached from a firing grip with the trigger finger, allowing for super swift emergency reloads and the enviable handling the M4/AR15 platform is known for.

The mock bolt catch of the SA-E06-H is located in the centre of the left side of the receiver, and while this is a dummy control which doesn't provide a function it is nonetheless a separate part to maintain the realistic appearance and avoid the tell-tale signs of being a replica. The dummy forward assist is present on the right side of the upper receiver, right where it should be. This control does nothing on an AEG, and some real AR shooters argue it does nothing on the real thing, but it is included on the SA-E06-H to keep the rifle faithful to real M4/AR15 rifles.

The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver and doesn't need to be pulled before the first shot. It instead serves to retract the mock bolt carrier and open the dust cover on the right side of the upper receiver, giving us access to the rotary HOP-up unit inside. The HOP-up allows you to tune the flight path of your BBs and set the SA-E06-H up for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest trajectory possible. The use of the rotary adjuster style is a nice touch from Specna and futureproofs the SA-E06-H with the most modern HOP-up design for the M4/AR15 platform, boasting an improved ability to hold its setting under the vibrations of firing and being adjustable in finer increments than the older "gear" adjuster design.

The pistol grip of the SA-E06-H sits right in line with Specna's leaning towards ultra-modern furniture and boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed, and in more modern shooting stances. Each flank of the pistol grip includes fine Specna texturing, matching that on the stock and magazines, and the front has linear texture to ensure you have a firm grip on the SA-E06-H in any weather conditions. The trigger guard is the standard M4/AR15 flat style, and the trigger has a curved MilSpec style trigger profile which will keep those with a Milsim leaning happy.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction of the sling plate practically guarantees no matter what you choose to mount to the plethora of 20mm rails on the SA-E06-H, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight.

To the rear of the sling plate, we come to the M4/AR15 buffer tube, which is constructed from zinc/aluminium alloy and finished with the same flawless Nanocoating as the receiver. The buffer tube offers 6 positions of adjustment for the Specna Arms Heavy Ops stock which can be adjusted using the prominent adjustment lever, complete with a textured surface for easy use in wet weather.

The adjustment lever of the Heavy Ops stock is placed as such that it won't get snagged on your kit like a crane stock might. The Heavy Ops stock also has a thick rubber butt plate to positively lock the stock into your shoulder and has more rubber texture on top with texture styled around the SA Specna Arms Logo, providing a comfortable cheek weld and perfect sight alignment. Accessing the battery compartment is as easy as it is with the old crane stock; simply squeeze the two tabs just beneath the cheek pieces at the rear of the stock together and the butt plate should come off, after which the battery plug piece can be removed, revealing the massive battery compartment and the Deans battery connector within.

We recommend a 7.4V 2600mAh LiPo battery in nunchuck/ crane configuration to make the most of the amply sized battery compartment in the SA-E09-RH. If you already have a pile of batteries with mini-Tamiya connectors fear not, as the SA-E09-RH comes with a Deans to mini-Tamiya adapter included in the box. Also included in the box are a 20mm Picatinny stubby vertical front grip and two Mid Cap 125rnd Magazines of a modern P-Mag style design known as the "S-MAG", which has tiny Specna Arms logos used as a stippling pattern which looks absolutely fantastic!

The pre-installed MOSFET is an X-ASR module from Gate which serves to protect your circuits and batteries and allows basic troubleshooting on the board thanks to status indicator LEDs. As an EDGE™ series replica, the SA-E06-H also features an ESA™ quick change spring system which dramatically reduces the amount of time to change the output power of your rifle, allowing you to change the main spring via the buffer tube.

The quality continues internally with a wealth of parts which would be considered an 'upgrade' on any other AEG. A rotary Hop Unit gives you fine and precise control over the trajectory of your BBs and is coupled with a precision 6.03mm barrel making for great accuracy down range. The 'ORION Gearbox' featured inside has a reinforced shell to handle high-power springs and is designed around their quick change spring system. Other perks of the ORION Gearbox include a reinforced polymer piston with a steel rack, an aluminium sealed nozzle, an aluminium double sealed cylinder head, an aluminium double sealed piston head with bearings, and steel gears running on 8mm bearing bushings. All of this comes together to seal the perfect package for those who want the best of external and internal quality.

If a real world gun has polymer parts then the gun will still be marked as full metal externals, examples of this would be an M4, where the Stock and Pistol grip are always made from Polymer.
