  • Full metal construction - Mostly steel
  • ABS Polymer stock version
  • 6.03mm Tightbore inner barrel

If you want to keep your setup realistic but need more ammo on tap, the S&T PPSh-41 EBB Submachine Gun AEG; ABS Stock is definitely worth a look. This full metal PPSh-41 SMG replica is packaged with a 2000 round drum magazine which matches that of the real PPSh perfectly, giving you an authentic platform with an almost unlimited ammo capacity! Like the Real Wood version, the vast majority of the metal parts in the build are steel, giving you authentic handling and realistic stamped markings.

To provide a more immersive firing experience, the S&T PPSh-41 is equipped with an Electro-Mechanical blowback mechanism which cycles the mock bolt each time you fire with an exciting "clack clack clack". We would be lying to you if we said this was proper recoil, but the slight jolt and mechanical noise as you fire makes this retro SMG a real blast to shoot, way more interesting than a standard AEG.

As with the Real Wood model, we have a unique gearbox shell inside equipped with 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm steel slide-bearing bushings and the rotary HOP-up unit is paired with a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel to give you the edge in accuracy. If you want to run a lesser seen platform with plenty of realism and the inherent firepower of a 2000 round drum mag at your disposal, the S&T PPSh-41 EBB Submachine Gun AEG; ABS Stock is a fantastic option!

Description

If you're a fast mover requiring high mag capacity and prefer a realistic platform, the S&T PPSh-41 EBB Submachine Gun AEG; ABS Stock is the one for you. This highly realistic PPSh-41 replica boasts full metal construction with a high proportion of steel and is packaged with a 2000-round drum magazine so you get the proper "Papasha" experience. This is the ABS Stock version, matching the slightly more expensive Real Wood version in every way other than its still good-looking but less authentic ABS polymer stock.

The real steel PPSh-41 (Pistolét-pulemyót Shpágina-41) was first issued to Red Army troops in November 1941, with around 6 million units produced during the war. Designed based on experience gleaned during the Winter War facing down with the exceptional Finnish Suomi KP/-31 SMG, the PPSh-41 is regarded as one of the best SMG designs of WW2 and formed the basis for several Korean, Vietnamese, Yugoslavian and Chinese SMG designs. The prolific PPSh-41 went on to serve throughout the Korean War and continues to be seen in the hands of rebel forces in conflict zones across the world, making it almost as relevant today as it was when it first graced the battlefield.

Starting at the front, we can see the ported barrel shroud, authentically made from steel and finished in gloss black. The barrel shroud is a big part of the PPSh-41 look and the very tip also serves as a muzzle brake in the real thing, helping keep the muzzle flat during long bursts of fire. On the top of the shroud, we can find the front iron sight which is a fine front post surrounded by a stamped steel protective wing, preventing damage to the delicate front post in the event your PPSh-41 takes a tumble.

Moving rearwards along the barrel shroud, we come to the authentic Soviet star in shield marking with "1944" positioned just behind. The real steel PPSh-41 had a number of different marking formats but thankfully S&T replicated the most common marking style, keeping things realistic to keep the collectors and WW2 reenactors happy. The markings are on the top, with the mock ejection port following just behind, complete with a silver-coloured alloy bolt carrier with a groove in the centre to simulate the extractor of the real thing.

Being an Electric Blowback platform, the S&T PPSh-41 cycles the mock bolt carrier with each shot, giving you a slight jolt of recoil and an exciting "clank clank clank" sound as you shoot. This makes it far more lively to skirmish with and drowns out the unrealistic AEG muzzle report; if you're getting bored of standard AEGs but don't want the expense and technical hurdles of a GBBR, this is the perfect happy medium!

The charging handle is located on the right side, connected directly to the bolt carrier with a textured section at the tip. Pulling the charging handle back to its rearmost position allows you to lock the bolt in place by pushing the textured section towards the receiver until it pops into its corresponding slot. This provides access to the rotary HOP-up unit of the PPSh-41 through the ejection port on the top, allowing you to tune your trajectory for different BB weights, looking for the flattest possible flight path. Locking the bolt back also prevents the SMG from firing, so make sure you remember to release it after you've set the HOP-up!

The receiver itself is relatively featureless, save for the alloy receiver end cap at the rear and the rear sight, constructed with an alloy notch and steel leaf spring with stamped steel protective wings on either side. The two sight notches give you a close-range and long-range shooting option, with the long-range notch being slightly elevated to allow for controlled volley fire.

On the bottom of the receiver is where we find the rest of the controls, all centrally placed to allow both left and right-hand shooters to use them intuitively. The magazine release is just in front of the trigger guard, a paddle-style release which folds flat when not in use to reduce snags. The fire selector switch is inside the trigger guard, with the front position being semi-auto and the central position being full auto with the rearmost position locking the trigger in "safe" mode. Its textured surface allows the fire selector to be easily used in wet weather, and the enlarged trigger guard allows easy access to the trigger, even when wearing thick winter gloves.

The stock of this version of the S&T PPSh-41 is made from ABS polymer, reducing weight and maintenance requirements at the cost of reduced realism. That said, the stock looks fantastic for a polymer faux wood stock, with a slightly darker finish than the current batch of Real Wood PPSh-41s but with an equally The stock takes the form of a "semi-pistol-grip" stock, with a slightly more vertical section where you grip the SMG. The stock is comfortable whether you run it left or right-handed and includes a sling slot on the right side which can be combined with the front sling point to mount a two-point sling. Being a hefty full metal platform, we suggest using a strong sling for the PPSh-41!

At the rear of the stock, we come to the steel butt plate which authentically includes a cleaning kit port in the centre. The battery compartment is inside the stock, but fortunately, S&T saw fit to design a nifty method for accessing it without needing to remove screws. To access the battery compartment, simply open the cleaning kit port and press the tab inside. This should allow you to rotate the butt plate slightly off to one side, revealing a mini-Tamiya battery connector inside. If you find this is difficult, make sure the bottom screw is properly tightened. For the S&T PPSh-41, we recommend a 7.4V 2300mAh LiPo in Block Configuration to take advantage of its decently sized battery compartment. The ABS stock version actually has slightly more space inside than the Real Wood so you could potentially use an even bigger battery.

Inside, the PPSh-41 uses a proprietary gearbox shell design with 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm steel slide bearings, giving you a slightly smoother gearbox report from the low friction bearings. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore example, matching the accuracy potential of more modern and far more common M4 platforms and providing a slight FPS boost from improved air efficiency. The PPSh-41's party trick is its ability to decompress the spring by pulling the charging handle all the way back. If your piston finishes its cycle in a suboptimal position, the spring decompression function allows you to reduce potential wear on the piston, tappet plate and gears and store your PPSh-41 without damaging it.

If you've got a Red Army loadout planned or want an interesting SMG for your rebel/OPFOR loadout, the S&T PPSh-41 EBB Submachine Gun AEG; ABS Stock will be an asset to your inventory. Boasting loads of steel in the build, authentic markings and an exciting EBB system to increase immersion, this is one of those platforms that will have you grinning from ear to ear!
