- High density polymer construction
- 6.05mm Tightbore inner barrel
- A lightweight and agile AK build
If you are new to skirmishing or are looking for a lightweight backup AEG in AK flavour, check this out! The S&T AK-105 Sports Line AEG is constructed primarily from high density polymer using the VFC construction style, meaning realistic disassembly for the AK realism nuts!
This AK replicates the AK-105, the mid-length AK designed to replace the AKS-74U in service with Russian special forces. Widely regarded as the best looking AK length, the -105 rocks a 12.4-inch outer barrel and side folding AK-74M stock, making it a handy platform for both indoor and outdoor skirmishes.
Inside, we are treated to a quick change spring system and 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm slide bearings for a smooth gearbox sound and reduced friction. The inner barrel is a 6.02mm tightbore example paired with an alloy slider HOP-up unit so you can get the job done at long range. If you're looking for a platform that is light and fast but it has to be an AK, your needs are finally met!

Description
If you've had your eye on AKs but want the agile handling of more modern platforms, the S&T AK-105 Sports Line AEG is definitely worth a look. This AK-105 AEG replica makes use of the super-realistic VFC build style but is constructed primarily from high density polymer for a lightweight and strong skirmish-friendly build.
Inside, the alloy version 3 gearbox is equipped with 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm slide bearings and a quick change spring system for easy power tuning. Tipping the scales at a minuscule 2.5 kg, this has to be the lightest AK AEG around right now, ideal for new skirmishers and the perfect lightweight backup for AK fans!
Starting at the tip of the barrel we can find an AK-105 style gas booster muzzle brake, which is intended in the real AK-105 to direct additional gas back into the operating mechanism to ensure the AK-105 keeps the AK typical reliability with its shortened barrel. The muzzle brake mounts to 14mm CCW male threads at the tip of the 12-inch outer barrel and can be swapped out for a suppressor or tracer unit if you are going for more of a Spetsnaz look for your AK. The gas booster mounts via 14mm CCW male threads on the barrel, but to remove it you will need to hold the detent pin on the front of the front sight block down.
The front sight of the AK-105 is integrated into the gas block, providing an adjustable front post with protective wings to ensure an accidental bump or scrape does not render your sights useless. This connects to the gas tube, which is the correct design for an AK-105 and it looks awesome. The handguards are styled after the standard AK-74 polymer type, with linear grooves for additional grip. These handguards match perfectly with the post-Bakelite era AK furniture, such as the side-folding solid stock and shortened AK-105 length outer barrel.
The lower handguard surrounds the alloy outer barrel and is retained by its own handguard cap which includes a sling point on the left side, ideally for hook-type slings. The trunnion block also provides the mounting point for the classic AK tangent rear iron sight, which provides multiple graduations for adjustment and a fine rear sight notch to align with the front sight post. The sight can be adjusted by pressing the buttons on either side of the sight notch and moving the notch back and forth on its base.
The lever on the right side of the trunnion is the handguard and gas tube disassembly lever. This lever allows you to quickly remove the upper handguard and gas tube of the S&T AK-105 just like a real AK-105, though this isn't really any use in Airsoft terms. This is one of the many perks of using the VFC-style external construction over the TM style, you can strip it like a real AK for extra nerd points!
As part of the classic AK aesthetic, we can find a dummy cleaning rod running parallel to the outer barrel, stored on the weapon to give the Russian soldier less to remember! This isn't intended for cleaning an Airsoft barrel and is just for the look but is constructed from steel with a gunmetal finish applied, providing a bit of subtle contrast to the overall design.
Next up we find the receiver, which is constructed from high density polymer with a high-quality matt finish. This polymer is firm and flex-free and has a matt textured surface which almost looks like the real anti-corrosion finish applied to real AKs. This is one of those receivers you have to touch to know it isn't metal!
The receiver has standard AK-style controls on the right side, with a fire selector lever which doubles as a dust cover when in safe mode and a charging handle attached to an authentic black dummy bolt carrier. In typical AK style, the first position on the fire selector is fully automatic and the lowermost position is semi-automatic. Each fire mode is denoted by a crispy moulded authentic Russian Cyrillic marking, adding some realism to this already very realistic AK.
Over on the left side, we can find an AK quick detach mounting rail, allowing for authentic Russian scopes to be mounted, or 20mm Picatinny rail mounts if you prefer a more modern Western optic. The receiver also provides several authentic dummy rivets, all found in the correct place for this AK variant. The magazine well also has an insert at the front which helps with reloads by limiting how far the mag can go into the receiver. This is a great feature, and makes the S&T AK-105 less of a pig to manipulate than most AKs!
To access the adjustable HOP-up unit of the AK-105 simply hold the charging handle to the rear to reveal the slider adjustable HOP unit. The slider unit is known as one of the best designs out there, and that is the reason this unit has not changed in design since the original Tokyo Marui AK-47 AEG. To increase the HOP-up effect, simply move the slider rearwards. Returning the slider to the front will reduce the HOP to its lowest setting. The HOP-up unit is constructed from alloy to give it extra strength.
The receiver top cover of the AK-105 is also constructed from stamped steel and is the appropriate design for a modern AK, with ribs stamped into the upper surface to provide additional strength while keeping the material thin and lightweight. The battery compartment is beneath the top cover, accessible by pressing the button at the rear of the top cover. Inside, you will find a mini-Tamiya connector. For the S&T AK-105, we recommend a 7.4V 1200mAh AK stick battery but you can also use a 9.6V NiMH stick battery if you prefer a NiMH battery. With the battery connected and installed, you can place the top cover back into the rifle, align the button with the hole in the rear of the top cover, and pull the charging handle to lock the cover down if necessary.
The pistol grip of the AK-105 is a standard AKM/AK-74 type pistol grip, with diamond checkering on either side to ensure the rifle stays firmly in your grasp in any weather condition. The trigger guard and magazine release can be found just ahead of the pistol grip, and are constructed from steel to provide solid magazine locking and ample rigidity. The magazine release is placed in the centre of the receiver and is accessible from either side of the AEG. The magazine retention system of the AK platform is a "rock and lock" motion, requiring you to first index the front "hook" on the magazine inside the receiver, then rock the magazine to engage the catch.
As we arrive at the rear, we come to the stock of the AK-105, constructed from high density polymer and a realistically slim design to facilitate side folding functionality. The stock features a storage compartment within its butt plate, which can be opened using the large polymer button on the butt plate. This compartment is rather small and is intended for a cleaning kit, but could also be used to store batteries for any accessories on your AK, or any documentation you might need.
To fold the stock to the side, simply press the button on the left side of the rear of the receiver, fold the stock to the left side and lock it on its hook. To unfold the stock, press the button on the butt plate to disengage the hook, and the stock can be folded into the deployed position and locked. The right side of the stock also features a sling loop which pairs well with the front sling point on the lower handguard cap, providing appropriate mounting apparatus for a two-point sling, but ideally suited to an AK47/74 sling.
On the inside, we are treated to a respectable internal setup, especially considering the affordable nature of the S&T "Sports Line" range. The version 3 gearbox is constructed from alloy with a steel 18:1 ratio gearset running on 8mm slide bearings and a quick change spring system for easy power tuning to meet your local site's FPS limits. The inner barrel is also a 6.02mm tightbore, giving you an edge in air efficiency, FPS and accuracy compared to a standard 6.08mm bore.
If you like the look of AKs but want to move like a speed demon, the S&T AK-105 Sports Line AEG is one way to do it. With a majority polymer build, you are sacrificing realism, but in doing so you give yourself the edge when it comes to mobility and agility!

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
