About KeyMod Rail Systems

KeyMod was conceived as an alternative to 20mm Picatinny rails, offering negative space attachment instead of protruding teeth to mount accessories while reducing weight and providing a slimmer, more ergonomic profile. The first KeyMod rail systems were produced by VLTOR Weapon Systems in the US, and as an open-source design, it wasn't long before several other real firearms manufacturers, as well as Airsoft companies, adopted KeyMod to supplement the ever-prevalent 20mm Picatinny rail. 

Just like its rival, the M-LOK system, KeyMod allows accessories to be directly mounted, including flashlight mounts, vertical and angled foregrips, bipods and rail covers, and is also compatible with 20mm Picatinny accessories when equipped with 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for KeyMod. The advantage of KeyMod accessories is a more integral look and reduced weight thanks to the negative space design, though 20mm Picatinny accessories offer a wider variety of options currently.
