Description

If you're looking for a shotgun with a side of realism, the Golden Eagle M1887 Gas Shell Ejecting Lever-Action Shotgun; Coach Gun is the exciting skirmish primary you need. This lever-action shotgun is based on the real steel Winchester M1887 in its mid-length "Coach Gun" form, boasting full metal construction and gorgeous real wood furniture. Realism nuts, get ready, it only gets more realistic from here on!

The Golden Eagle M1887 feeds from realistic shotgun shells which hold 1-3 BBs, loaded through the action when opened, just like the real thing. After shooting, rack the lever and watch the spent shell tumble out, just like a real M1887 Shotgun. Being a shell-ejecting shotgun, capacity is limited to the number of shells that fit into the magazine tube, but for a certain type of Airsofter, this is only a bonus! If you love a realistic experience in-game and appreciate a rarely-seen platform, the Golden Eagle M1887 Gas Shell Ejecting Lever-Action Shotgun; Short belongs in your arsenal!

Starting at the front, we can take note of the intimidatingly wide 20-inch alloy outer barrel; exactly what a shotgun needs. Named for its length, the "Coach Gun" barrel is shorter than the standard 24-inch shotgun length, allowing it to be swept between targets quickly and matching that of double-barreled Coach Guns but with more capacity.

On the top of the barrel, we are treated to quite the luxury for an old-school shotgun replica; a bead sight! This sight is designed primarily for short-range aiming at a rapid pace and can also be aligned with the groove at the top of the receiver for longer-range shots. The bead sight has an authentic brass finish which also makes it easy to pick up quickly and surprisingly functional for a period design.

Below the barrel, we have our magazine tube, providing 5+1 shell capacity in this, the "Coach Gun" variant of the M1887. The set includes 5 shells, allowing you to carry safely without a shell in the chamber. To load the magazine tube, open the action by racking the lever and insert each shell into the lifter, pushing the lifter down and the shell into the magazine tube, just below the chamber. This is quite a complex loading process and there is potential you may get Garand Thumb if you do it wrong; we recommend watching the video above if you are unsure!

On either side of the mag tube, we have real wood handguard panels; a perfect match for the real M1887. The wood looks and feels great, completing the authentic Wild West Coach Gun look. While the handguard panels don't provide the same amount of traction as modern handguards, they serve their purpose and look fantastic while doing it!

Moving rearwards, we come to the receiver which is devoid of controls other than the action lever and trigger. The sides of the receiver include screws and pins in all the correct spots, along with an engraved logo on the left side for maximum authenticity. Up top, you will find the ejection/loading port, and down below you will find the trigger and enlarged action lever. Contrary to popular belief, the enlarged lever is intended for gloved users and not for spin-cocking Terminator 2 style.

The gas reservoir of the M1887 is well concealed inside the action and is accessible with the hammer uncocked and the action open. With the action open, you will see the fill valve hiding behind the lever, but only when the hammer is uncocked. If you're struggling to find it, check the video and everything will be clear!

Last up, we come to the stock which is set at a slight downward angle to allow a clean sight picture along the top of the barrel, and, of course, is constructed from gorgeous real wood to complete the look. The "semi-pistol grip" configuration of the stock is rather comfortable whether it is held with the left or right hand. The butt plate is constructed from alloy and curved to fit the shoulder perfectly, complete with diamond checkering for all-weather traction.

In the performance department, this thing is a real blast to shoot, with a menacing muzzle report and a positively awesome noise when you work the action. While it is definitely strictly a CQB tool, the M1887 has an adjustable HOP-up unit which can be adjusted using the included tool. The tool looks a bit like a shell with a protruding flag, and to adjust the HOP, simply insert the tool into the chamber with the flag pointing up and turn it to adjust your HOP-up.

If you're looking for an unconventional primary and have a soft spot for the Old West, the post-apocalyptic wasteland aesthetic or a flawless combo of full metal with real wood, the Golden Eagle M1887 Gas Shell Ejecting Lever-Action Shotgun; Coach Gun will be your new favourite Airsoft gun. Watching shells fly out as you work the action under pressure is an experience that cannot be beaten!
