Externally, the CM16 SRL is rocking a superb quality CNC aluminium M-LOK handguard, high-density polymer receiver and aluminium buffer tube, giving you the perfect middle ground between hefty full metal builds and super-light polymer builds. At the rear, we have the advanced G&G GOS V8 sliding stock, equipped with QD sling sockets, a grippy rubber butt plate and a comfortable rubberised cheekpiece; a significant ergonomic advantage over most AR-15 stocks. The magazine release and charging handle are both ambidextrous, making handling easier for lefties or those who switch shoulders when taking corners.

Starting at the front, we have an AAC-style flash hider constructed from polymer mounted to the 14mm CCW male threaded outer barrel. This flash hider is a super slick-looking design and its polymer build keeps the front end light and quick to point, though it can be swapped out for any 14mm CCW threaded tracer unit or suppressor should it suit your style. The aluminium outer barrel is 9.5 inches in length, a perfect match for the 9.5-inch handguard for an ultra-modern look with a suppressor mounted.

Immediately following the flash hider, we come to the handguard which is CNC machined from aluminium with the superb scratch-resistant finish G&G is known for. Featuring M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions and a monolithic 20mm Picatinny rail running along the top, this handguard is ready to rock with your choice of M-LOK vertical or angled foregrips, flashlights, lasers or even 20mm Picatinny rails for M-LOK if you prefer Picatinny accessories. Thanks to its skeletonisation cuts and bevelled edges, the CM16 SRL handguard is very comfortable to use slick, with no need for rail covers to prevent the "cheese grater effect".

Next up, we reach the receiver which is constructed from G&G's superb high density polymer, patterned after modern real steel "billet" M4/AR-15 receivers with some unique G&G aesthetic twists. At the front of the magwell, we have gripping texture for shooting from unconventional positions using the "magwell grip"; a useful technique when space is limited in close quarters. The magwell also has a slight flare, making reloads easier and mimicking the style of high-end real steel ARs. 

The fire selector switch is right where we would expect; above the pistol grip on the left side, well within reach of the shooter's thumb when the CM16 SRL is held in a firing grip. The selector is an enhanced design ideal for wet weather use and offers 3 modes of fire with a 90-degree throw between modes. The default fire modes are SAFE-SEMI-FULL AUTO, indicated with recessed pictograms.  You also have the option of using 3-round burst instead of full auto via the G&G G3 MOSFET; a superb feature for long-duration outdoor games where ammo conservation is a priority. 

The magazine release is located on either side of the magazine well, allowing for easy reloads for left or right-handed shooters. A "push through" design with a textured surface, this mag release is inspired by real steel KAC ambidextrous mag releases; a proven design from the high-end of real steel AR-15s. At the top of the upper receiver, we can find the charging handle which is also ambidextrous, allowing it to be pulled from either side to access the rotary HOP-up unit. 

Pulling the charging handle back will pop open the steel dust cover on the right side and retract the mock bolt, revealing the rotary HOP-up unit inside. The HOP-up allows you to adjust the trajectory of your BBs and set the CM16 SRL up for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. The rotary design beats out the older "gear" style HOP-up in its ability to hold its setting over long durations and offers finer adjustment increments so you can get your HOP-up set perfectly. 

On the bottom, we come to the flat "speed" trigger, a new design for G&G's Gen.3 internals, offering a slightly extended design with a finger ledge at the bottom. The flat design of this trigger is fantastic for pumping out rapid double taps in CQB and its enlarged profile is fantastic for shooting with full-finger gloves. The trigger guard is constructed from alloy and is also enlarged to allow for the slightly extended trigger, making trigger access easy and adding to the ultra-modern styling of the CM16 SRL. 

The pistol grip is a unique G&G design with a slim, ergonomic shape and crackle textured panels wrapping around for optimal gripping qualities. The joins between the grip and receiver are all bevelled to reduce "hot spots" which may cause irritation over long durations of use, resulting in a very comfortable and effective grip which does the job in all weather conditions. 

At the rear of the receiver, we can find the ambidextrous sling plate which is constructed from steel to ensure it can take the weight of the CM16 SRL and any accessories you equip it with. The sling plate allows a single-point sling to be mounted on either side, ideal for CQB where the single-point slings are the standard. You can also add an M-LOK or 20mm Picatinny sling point up front for a two-point sling if you prefer. 

At the very rear, we have the prolific M4/AR-15 buffer tube, offering 6 positions of adjustment for the pre-installed GOS V8 stock, or any other M4/AR-15 stock you choose to mount. The GOS V8 is one of G&G's most recent additions to its unique stock line, offering a dual adjustment lever both in the conventional horizontal position and oriented vertically at the "toe" of the stock. On each side, we are treated to a QD sling socket, ready for QD sling swivels and the butt plate is serrated; made from grippy rubber so it never slips off your shoulder in wet weather. The cheekrest is also rubberised and comfortably angled, making it feel closer to a pillow than the usual M4 sliding stock!

On the top rear of the stock, we can find the battery access button which allows you to access the buffer tube battery compartment without removing the entire stock. Press the button and the butt plate will hinge open, revealing a mini-Tamiya battery connector inside. We recommend an 11.1V 800mAh LiPo in stick configuration for an easy fit and to keep the low-voltage cutoff function of the G&G MOSFET happy. There is potentially room for a bigger battery inside the buffer tube but this would require the automotive fuse to be removed which we do not recommend. 

Internally, the CM16 SRL is equipped with G&G's Gen.3 internals, including 18:1 steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings, the much-lauded G&G Irfit Orange 25K high-speed motor and G&G's programmable MOSFET/ETU. This makes the CM16 SRL 11.1V LiPo ready, meaning an incredible rate of fire and super-snappy trigger, ideal for performance-focused players. The MOSFET also allows 3-round burst to be programmed in instead of the usual full-auto; ideal for dealing with moving targets outdoors without wasting ammo!
