  • Full metal construction
  • CO2 powered - INTENSE recoil
  • WW2 Era 1911 variant - Old school cool

If you like a sidearm that looks simple but grabs attention when you pull the trigger, the KJ Works M1911A1 GBB Pistol; CO2 Version will do exactly that! Boasting full metal construction and a Tokyo Marui-based internal build, the highlight of this 1911 platform is its incredible recoil, booming muzzle report and very impressive rapid-fire performance. Most green gas-powered 1911s suffer from a small gas reservoir restricting their consistency under rapid fire but we are happy to report that the KJ Works M1911A1 is exceptional in this regard.

Based on the real steel M1911A1, the 1911 variant issued during WW2, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, this is the variant to go for if you're running a retro primary. If you prefer a sidearm which is simple and effective with a side of old-school cool, the KJ Works M1911A1 GBB Pistol; CO2 Version is exactly that!

Description

If you're working on a WW2, Vietnam War or Korean War kit, the KJ Works M1911A1 GBB Pistol; CO2 Version should be your sidearm! This full-metal GBB pistol replicates the real steel M1911A1, the improved version of the original 1911 which served throughout the Second World War, the Korean War and the Vietnam War in the hands of US G.Is; the perfect compliment to a Thompson SMG, M16A1, M1 Garand or M1 Carbine based loadout.

Starting at the front of the slide we can find the front iron sight blade, which is a simple and fixed design meaning a no amount of bumping and shaking will have your sights walk out of alignment. The fixed iron sights are also period-accurate to the original M1911 and M1911A1, and given the age of the design of the real pistol, we are lucky we have sights at all! Another benefit of this type of sight is the low snag nature; the lack of adjustability means less to snag on and a smoother draw from your holster when it is sidearm time.

Due to the 1911's extremely instinctive design, holding this pistol gives you the feeling you have held it before, with the sights being easy to align and large enough to be easy to acquire, and all the controls falling right under your fingers, right where they should be.

Moving rearwards, we can find the mock ejection port, through which the outer barrel is visible with its realistic .45 ACP engraved markings. The outer barrel has mock rifling inside, meaning no threads for a tracer unit but extra realism when it comes to using the M1911A1 for photoshoots and as a movie prop. The rear of the slide features serrations on both sides to ensure the shooter has a solid grip when cocking the pistol, regardless of the weather conditions.

As we move rearwards we can find the slide release catch which has checkering on the upper surface to ensure it can be operated when wet or in adverse weather. Likewise, the magazine release is textured and is right where you expect to find it, well within reach of your thumb whilst firing, on the left side of the grip.

The front face of the trigger also includes checkering and is of a straight travel (aka straight back) design, similar to its descendant, the Hi-Capa. This allows for a consistent and accurate trigger pull, taking pure advantage of the light and short pull of a 1911 trigger. The safety lever can be found on the left side of the frame and sits comfortably under the shooter's thumb, perfect for cocked and locked carry. This safety lever is of a period-accurate design, with no extensions or other silly modern bits, and works just great the way it is.

On the rear of the pistol's frame, we have what is known as a beavertail grip safety; a hallmark feature of the 1911 allowing it to get away with a super short trigger pull and still be safe by disconnecting the trigger until the pistol is gripped fully and properly. The beavertail safety ensures the trigger cannot be inadvertently pressed when drawing from a holster, which can be quite a painful experience!

Just above the grip safety, we come to the hammer which is the appropriate "Spur" hammer design to match the real WW2 era 1911 pistol. The spur hammer allows you to cock the pistol by pulling the hammer back more easily, and while this isn't really useful for Airsoft it is still great fun to play with and makes the KJW M1911A1 a great movie prop.

The polymer Faux wooden grips have effective diamond checkering to ensure this pistol doesn't slip out of your hands during wet weather and are the correct shape and style for the old-school WW2/Korean War/Vietnam era 1911. At the bottom of the frame, behind the magazine well we have a lanyard loop, an extremely useful feature that allows you to retain your pistol even if it slips out of your holster. A lanyard loop can be the difference between losing your pistol after a long crawl in the woods and having that feeling of relief when you realise it has followed you!

On the inside, the KJ Works M1911A1 is reportedly fully Tokyo Marui compatible which is great news for those of us who cannot touch an Airsoft gun without upgrading it. Its CO2 power source provides intense recoil, far exceeding that of most GBB pistols on the market, helped along by its full metal construction. The grip is cut for CO2 magazines (we recommend staying in brand and going for KJW mags) but it can also accept KJW green gas magazines, giving you a second propellant option if the rapid-fire performance and meaty recoil of CO2 is a bit too much for you!

If you want to run a 1911 as a sidearm and want to rapid-fire like BBs are going out of fashion, a CO2-powered version is the best option. This, the KJ Works M1911A1 GBB Pistol; CO2 Version has absolutely shocking recoil and very impressive rapid-fire performance, even in cold weather. Whether you are looking for a retro sidearm or just want something simple, tasteful and practical, the KJ Works M1911A1 is a superb sidearm!
