The Bolster Armouries QUARTZ 3.0 Precision Hi-Capa is the spiritual descendant of the original QUARTZ and refined QUARTZ 2.0 builds, with design specs laid out by Bolster Armouries resident IPSC shooter to meet the demanding performance requirements of an Open Division race gun.

The QUARTZ 3.0 is to a mass-produced gas blowback pistol as a Ferrari is to a Kia Picanto: They both do approximately the same job, one just does it faster, with greater precision, while sporting the art gallery-worthy looks of a true masterpiece. One is a thoroughbred, the other a workhorse.

Externally, the QUARTZ 3.0 keeps the stunning black and gold colour scheme of the original but boasts a new Airsoft Masterpiece DVC STEEL Open Slide kit and discrete chrome accented parts. The result is a fresh, clean look which telegraphs performance, quality and supercar-esque styling.

Inside, almost everything from the original Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa Gold Match base gun has been stripped away and replaced with CNC aluminium and steel parts from Airsoft Masterpiece, AIP and EDGE Custom, with HOP-up parts from Maple Leaf paired with the insanely precise Laylax Ultra Tight Bore inner barrel.

As with the original QUARTZ platforms, the QUARTZ 3.0 is rocking the notable Vector Optics Frenzy-X Red Dot Sight, an RMR-style reflex optic with a large window for improved situational awareness and recoil resistance rated up to .338 Lapua Magnum, more than enough to maintain a perfect zero on the spritely QUARTZ setup.

The Frenzy-X is mounted via the JLP Amphibious Mount, putting the QUARTZ 3.0 in line with the cutting edge of modern handgun shooting doctrine both in terms of combat and competitive shooting. Airsoft Masterpiece External Parts

S Style DVC STEEL Open Slide - Black/Gold - CNC Aluminium with Steel Outer Barrel & Guide Rod

The Airsoft Masterpiece S Style DVC STEEL Open Slide kit is CNC machined from Aircraft grade aluminium, offering ultra-low weight and a flawless form. This is one of the many enhancements present on the QUARTZ 3.0 responsible for its astounding cyclic rate, meeting and even exceeding the performance benchmark for a competition-optimised Airsoft GBB pistol. and the supercar-esque looks of an Open Division pistol.

The slide does away with iron sights, in line with its "open class" style; they will only slow you down when rocking the QUARTZ 3.0! The rear iron sight dovetail remains, but instead of a sight, it houses a CNC machined aluminium cocking handle which protrudes on the left side of the pistol, complimenting the slide serrations for a more easily grabbed handle which you will never miss when time is of the essence.

The cocking handle has zig-zag style diamond texturing to ensure the smooth and flawless finish does not inhibit your grip on the control. The slide also provides a secondary gripping surface at the rear so you can keep the pistol under control in those moments when it all goes wrong, and carry out some rapid corrective actions to prevent a DQ.

The sides of the DVC STEEL slide are weight-reduced with attractive scallop cuts and vent ports, presenting a pair of ports on either side with an additional pair on the top. The rear of the slide boasts serrations cut at the same dynamic angle which are deep enough to provide plenty of traction but machined to be perfectly rounded, avoiding the so-called "cheese grater effect".

At the front of the slide, we can see the recoil rod guide protruding just below the barrel, an iconic feature of the DVC STEEL Open Slide. This allows a longer recoil rod and spring to be used when compared to a standard Hi-Capa 4.3 slide, resulting in a tighter slide fit and a smoother, wobble-free slide cycle. The flawless CNC machining quality of the steel guide rod and aluminium guide rod plug results in a super slick slide with the buttery smooth feel of perfect hand fitting.

The compensator of the DVC STEEL Open slide kit is also machined from aircraft-grade aluminium and attaches directly to the barrel, as opposed to the frame, to ensure there are no mechanical weaknesses in the design which might loosen over time, and freeing up the dust cover area for a 20mm Picatinny rail. The compensator not only looks fantastic, finished in contrasting glamorous gold but also adds weight to the muzzle to help control muzzle flip, allowing for rapid follow-up shots without having to correct by pulling the pistol back down onto the target.

The compensator includes a large port at the front on either side and two ports smaller ports just behind cut at a dynamic rear-swept angle, together with a pair of beastly ports on the top and linear texturing to reduce glare for a cleaner sight picture. The textured surface across the top of the compensator mates perfectly with that of the slide and is intended to reduce glare from reflected ambient light sources and prevent a "heat mirage" from forming in the real firearm, ensuring the shooter has a clear view of the target.

Airsoft Masterpiece Advanced Frame 3.9" with Tactical Rail - CNC Machined Aluminium

As is the case with the slide, the Airsoft masterpiece Advanced frame is constructed from CNC machined aluminium to provide the tight tolerances necessary for high performance together with eye-catching looks and a perfect finish. The Advanced Frame is shorter than the standard full-length Hi-Capa frame at the front end saving weight while keeping the recoil rod and spring protected from dust.

The dust cover has a 20mm Picatinny rail machined in which is ideally located to mount a tactical pistol flashlight or laser aiming module, giving the QUARTZ 3.0 the rail real estate to mount a combat practical suite of accessories. A flashlight or laser mounted here will be well within the reach of the shooter's trigger finger or thumb when holding the QUARTZ 3.0 in a firing grip, making for intuitive operation when the adrenaline is pumping.

The rail also has a milled relief cut along its length to remove any excess weight, compensating for any weight gained with the addition of the rail itself. Thoughtful design practices like this are among the many things which drew the eyes of the Bolster Armouries team. This frame allows the QUARTZ 3.0 to keep the low weight and impressive handling qualities of the original QUARTZ even with more aluminium parts, giving you the option to run it with a tactical flashlight for the ultimate "offensive" handgun package.

Airsoft Masterpiece Aluminium Grip Type 8 - CNC Machined Aluminium

The Airsoft Masterpiece Aluminium Grip Type 8 is one of the more unique aspects of the QUARTZ 3.0 external design and is loaded with practical features, with trim parts that shine like the crown jewels.

The Type 8 grip is machined using ultra-precise CNC technology and is constructed from a single piece of aluminium to guarantee strength and perfect magazine engagement. The stylish externals of this grip are a big part of what gives the QUARTZ 3.0 its alluringly unique looks and perfect balance; the ideal choice to pair with the Airsoft Masterpiece frame and slide.

The Type 8 grip also includes an integrated trigger guard with a flat front face for additional recoil control and faster follow-up shots thanks to reduced muzzle flip. Beneath the trigger guard, we can see what are known as trigger guard undercuts. These provide a comfortable and consistent spot to index your support hand, encouraging a consistent hold position for repeatable accuracy and a high grip for recoil control.

Undercuts are a recent phenomenon but are finding their way into more and more pistols due to their inherent advantage of allowing the pistol to be held further up the grip, keeping recoil forces in line with the arm whilst shooting, making the pistol easier to control and bring back onto target for a follow-up shot. This also allows for a higher grip which promotes more effective recoil control and more intuitive pointing of the pistol.

The strong hand undercut smoothly transitions to a single finger groove, which leads on to carefully machined diamond texturing. The diamond checker pattern wraps around the entire grip, with finer texture on the mainspring housing at the rear. The edges of each of the raised diamond checkers have rounded relief cuts on the surface to give the QUARTZ 2.0 its luxurious yet effective grip.

Each side of the grip has a cutout, known as the "Mobius cut". This cut-out adds a high-speed, custom style to the already distinctive QUARTZ 3.0 grip, giving it an air of individuality you can only get with a custom Airsoft pistol. The Mobius cut doesn't just serve an aesthetic purpose; it also helps reduce weight and keep the QUARTZ 3.0 lightweight and nimble.

The grip comes with a steel magazine catch which has a striking gloss gold finish, adding subtle highlights to the already gorgeous QUARTZ 3.0. The magazine catch is checkered for additional grip and cut at an angle, allowing faster engagement and a simple sweep down with the thumb to release the magazine. This departs from traditional extended magazine catch designs with the angled cut. Standard extended mag catches often require you to lift your thumb from its index point to hit the very top of the magazine catch; a far more demanding operation when under pressure than a simple sweep downwards. The steel construction of the mag catch guarantees effective retention of the magazine and a consistent height for the gas route bucking; contributing to the QUARTZ 3.0's impressive gas efficiency.

At the base of the grip, the QUARTZ 3.0 provides one of the best parts for improving reload speed; a magazine well extension, complete with a wide inner bevel. This device enables smooth reloads and reduces the possibility of messing up when time is of the essence. This part is finished in mirror chrome, providing some attractive contrast to the black grip, pairing perfectly with the magazine catch and grip screws, only adding to its beauty. The magazine well extension also functions as a palm rest, preventing the pistol from being gripped too low and ensuring you have an effective grip, even when going full speed against the clock!
