If you are looking for a lightning-fast PDW which marries superb build quality and impressive internals with licenced trademarks, check out the EMG TROY SOCC PDW M4/AR-15 AEG! This compact, full-metal AR platform boasts full licenced trademarks from Troy Industries and a slick modern design at the cutting edge of ergonomics.
The handguard is a fantastic replica of the real steel Troy 7.6" M-LOK handguard, the muzzle device is a dead-on match for the hyper-aggressive Troy Medieval Flash Suppressor and the stock is based on the real steel SB Tactical SBA3 Brace but with a rubber butt plate so it can be shouldered like a proper stock. Those who like the latest civilian tactical platforms from the real steel world are going to love this!
On the inside, things are equally impressive, boasting a pre-upgraded version 2 gearbox fitted with 8mm bushings, a polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack, steel ball-bearing spring guide and an in-line MOSFET to improve trigger response, electrical efficiency and trigger contact lifespan. If a compact AR is on the cards for your next purchase and you like the elite real steel look, the TROY SOCC PDW should suit you perfectly!

Description
If you need an AR for close-quarters work and you like licenced platforms, the EMG TROY SOCC PDW M4/AR-15 AEG should be right up your street. This full metal M4/AR-15 AEG is licenced by Troy Industries via EMG, meaning engraved trademarks across the design and an external build that is as close to 1:1 with the real thing as it comes in Airsoft AEG form.
On the outside, we are treated to an M-LOK handguard which matches the real Troy 7.5-inch M-LOK rail perfectly, a flawless replica of the menacing Troy Medieval Flash Suppressor constructed from steel, a Troy-marked receiver and an SB Tactical SBA3 Brace style stock with a rubber butt plate added so you can shoulder it like a real stock. The internals are equally sweet, boasting a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, a high torque motor and in-line MOSFET to keep everything in check.
Starting at the front, we can find the imposing flash hider, known by Troy as the Medieval Flash Suppressor. The front end of the flash hider is spiked to allow a real SOCC PDW to be used to breach door hinges and locks so we suggest keeping the barrel pointed in a safe direction as you run with this beast lest you poke someone's eye out!
The flash hider mounts to 14mm CCW male threads at the tip of the outer barrel, meaning if you need a suppressor for that sneaky styling or a tracer for an instinct-aiming edge in low light, the SOCC PDW is ready for it. The barrel itself is 8 inches in length and constructed from alloy, complete with a dummy gas block and tube which runs beneath the handguard to complete the realistic look.
Moving rearwards, we come to the handguard which is CNC machined from aluminium and a perfect match for the real Troy 7.6-inch M-LOK rail, complete with Troy trademarks laser engraved on the top in white and a more discrete "TROY" marking on the right side. The handguard boasts M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions along with additional M-LOK slots at the offset angles, giving you more mounting positions so you can kit the SOCC PDW out exactly how you like it. The 12 o'clock position features a numerically marked 20mm Picatinny rail which runs back to meet the receiver rail seamlessly, allowing for large optical sights and magnifier/red dot sight combos to be fitted for long-range duties.
Mounted to the upper rail, we are treated to the perfect set of flip-up iron sights for a Troy build; the Troy Flip-up BattleSights. These irons both look fantastic and are highly functional, complete with protective wings on both the front and rear sights and full adjustment for both windage and elevation. If you're mounting a red dot sight or scope to your SOCC PDW, you also have the option to remove the sights from the rail or leave them flipped down for emergency use. Another perk of the BattleSights is that you don't need to press any buttons or levers to deploy them; simply flip them up by hand and take the shot!
Moving rearward we reach the receiver, which is a familiar M4/AR-15 layout but with flawlessly engraved and officially licenced Troy trademarks on the left side. The receiver is constructed from alloy with a matt black finish and is equipped with a steel dust cover, bolt catch and body pins. The fire selector is located on the left side of the AEG and sits directly above the pistol grip to provide fast and easy access for right-handed shooters. With a 90-degree throw between modes, the fire selector is quick to operate but not too easy to accidentally knock it and end up in the wrong fire mode. Each fire mode is indicated with standard M4A1 markings reading "SAFE - SEMI - AUTO" in nice, crisp engravings.
The magazine release is also constructed from steel and is right where we would expect it; on the right side of the magazine well, easily within reach of the trigger finger when the SOCC PDW is held in a firing grip. The mag release is the standard AR push button design with a textured surface to improve wet weather handling and is protected on all sides by a protrusion machined into the receiver, known as the "magazine release fence". This means if the SOCC PDW is slung on your back, the fence should protect the magazine release from being pressed by your gear and ejecting your mag into the dirt.
Located at the top rear of the receiver, we can find the charging handle which is a standard Milspec style low-profile handle. Pulling the charging handle rearwards will open the steel dust cover on the right side and retract the mock bolt, locking it in place for easy HOP-up access. This HOP-up unit is the rotary type, benefitting from improved ability to hold its setting in the long term and offering finer adjustment increments when compared to the older M4/AR-15 Gear HOP-up adjuster. The HOP-up allows you to tune the SOCC PDW for your chosen ammo weight, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. Once your adjustment is applied, simply hit the bolt catch on the centre left of the receiver to send the mock bolt home with a satisfying "clank".
The pistol grip of the SOCC PDW is a unique design, marrying the shape of the legendary "A1" pistol grip with additional texture and rounded corners for improved handling and comfort. Many find the A1 to be more comfortable than the "A2" finger-ridged grip, and this may be the ultimate modernised A1 style grip. All of the points where the grip meets the receiver are bevelled to reduce "hot spots" which can cause fatigue over long-duration operations and the extra texture positively locks the SOCC PDW to your hands, with or without gloves.
Bringing up the rear, we have the good old AR buffer tube, offering 6 adjustment positions for the pre-installed SB Tactical SBA3 brace-style stock. The buffer tube is constructed from alloy and also serves as the battery compartment of the SOCC PDW, though you can also use the stock for your battery if you keep it in the most compact position. To access the buffer tube battery compartment, simply pull the rubber butt plate off, revealing a Deans/T-plug battery connector inside. For the SOCC PDW, we recommend a 7.4V 1200mAh LiPo battery in stick configuration. It is possible to fit a bigger battery inside making use of the stock as well as the buffer tube, but as mentioned, due to the length of the pre-installed wiring you will not be able to extend the stock beyond its most compact position with a battery installed.
The stock itself is a detailed replica of the real steel SB Tactical SBA3 pistol brace with one major difference; this brace has a proper rubber butt plate so you get the pistol brace aesthetic along with the functionality of a stock. The brace can be adjusted just like any other AR sliding stock, simply hold the adjustment lever down and slide the stock into your preferred length of pull position. While it is equipped with a butt plate, the SBA3 also includes an arm strap so you can use it as a pistol brace if you prefer. The SBA3 also includes QD sling sockets on either side so you can mount QD sling swivels and add a single-point sling.
On the inside, we're treated to a respectable feature set thanks to the OEM, King Arms of Taiwan. The gearbox is the common version 2 type and is equipped with an 18:1 ratio steel gearset running on 8mm bushings, a polymer piston with a full rack of steel teeth and a steel spring guide equipped with ball bearings to reduce rotational force on the guide and gearbox shell. Also installed is an in-line MOSFET which protects the trigger contacts from corrosion and improves electrical efficiency for a snappier trigger response and improved rate of fire. All of the internals are Tokyo Marui version 2 gearbox compatible, meaning if you need more performance.
If you're into the American civilian tactical scene, the EMG TROY SOCC PDW should have you smitten. It has been a while since Airsofters had the opportunity to get their hands on a licenced replica from Troy, so if you've been waiting for Troy replicas to catch up to DD, Noveske and the rest of the gang, now is the time!

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
