EMG Daniel Defense DDM4® V7 AEG

Based on the real steel DDM4 V7P, an AR "pistol" built with Daniel Defense's lightweight MFR 9.0 handguard and a side folding AR buffer tube, the EMG version is full metal and bristling with elite DD markings, matching the real thing perfectly!

Inside, you'll find the APS Silver Edge II V2 gearbox equipped with 18:1 CNC steel gears, a polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack, a stainless steel cylinder, double O-ring cylinder head and quick change spring system. This setup is driven by a high torque motor and kept in check with the APS Micro-FET, ensuring you don't get any trigger lockups and that electrical efficiency is on point. A unique addition to the DDM4 V7 is what APS call the "Rapid Trigger System", a spacer intended to reduce trigger travel and add a simulated trigger reset like a GBBR or real rifle. This isn't evident until you have your battery plugged in, but the reset is audible and tactile, not to mention incredibly satisfying!

Adding a side folding stock to the M4/AR-15 design is a match made in heaven and very rare to find; allowing it to fit into smaller gun bags, be transported more easily and compressed down for engagements in ultra-tight quarters. Couple this with the ultra-light and flawlessly machined MRF 9.0 handguard and you have a Daniel Defense AR which truly stands out alongside the plethora of MK18s! If you're into the Daniel Defense aesthetic but already have a MK18, the DDM4® V7 AEG from APS is a fine choice with plenty of perks!

Starting at the front, we have a birdcage flash hider mounted to 14mm CCW male barrel threading, the classic AR-15 muzzle device finished in matt black. The birdcage suits the style of the DDM4 V7 perfectly but can be switched out for a suppressor for a sneaky look or a tracer unit to light the enemy up while you light them up. The flash hider is retained by a grub screw so make sure you remove the screw before attempting to unthread it!

Moving rearwards very slightly, we come to the detailed DD MRF 9.0 handguard, equipped with a 20mm Picatinny rail running along its upper surface and M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. Additional M-LOK slots are present at the offset angles, giving you greater flexibility than the average M-LOK handguard when it comes to accessory placement. A set of two 20mm Picatinny rails for M-LOK are also included in the box; a generous addition which allows 20mm accessories to be mounted on the M-LOK handguard. 

Authentic Daniel Defense trademarks adorn the right side along with recessed M-LOK markings on either side at the front, giving it an elite touch and realistic looks. On the left side, we have a QD sling socket positioned near the rear, ready for QD sling swivels, one of which is included and pre-installed on the RS-3 stock. The other circular ports on the MRF 9.0 are not functional as QD sockets and are only included for the look. 

Moving rearward we reach the receiver, a standard M4/AR-15 milspec design with a 3-position fire selector switch and all the details a proper replica needs. The receiver is constructed from high-density polymer with a matt black finish and features a unique serial number just above the trigger. The fire selector switch is located on the left side of the AEG and sits directly above the pistol grip to provide fast and easy access for right-handed shooters. The fire selector's 90-degree throw between modes makes it quick to operate but not too easy to accidentally knock it and end up in the wrong fire mode. Each fire mode is indicated with recessed text, reading "SAFE - SEMI - AUTO", just like a real M4A1 rifle. 

At the centre of the left side of the receiver, we can find the "ping pong paddle" dummy bolt release catch which allows you to lock the mock bolt back for HOP-up adjustment. Unlike other AR platforms which lock the bolt when the charging handle is pulled, this setup works just like the real deal; requiring you to hold the charging handle back while pressing the bottom of the bolt catch to hold the mock bolt open. When you're ready, you can then hit the textured top section of the bolt catch to send the mock bolt home with a satisfying clank. This deserves maximum realism points!

Over on the right side of the receiver, we can see what is known as the forward assist button, located on the upper receiver behind the mock shell deflector. This button also has no function but serves to force the real M4/AR-15 bolt carrier into battery if it fails to close due to dirt ingress. The button can be pressed and is also a separate part, keeping things visually accurate to the real thing. 

The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is ideally positioned to be pressed with the trigger finger from a firing grip for right-handed users. Left-handed users can use their support hand thumb to press the release, and this can be done quite fast with a little practice. The surface of the mag release is textured to provide the necessary gripping qualities, and is protected from accidental presses by the "magwell fence", a raised protrusion in the receiver which stops the mag release from catching on your gear as you move. 

At the top rear of the receiver, you'll find the charging handle of the DDM4 V7 which doesn't need to be pulled before the first shot. Instead, this serves to open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt carrier, revealing the gear HOP-up adjuster inside of the alloy HOP-up unit. As mentioned, you can lock the mock bolt back to make adjustments easier using the bolt catch on the left side. The adjustable HOP-up unit allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your BBs and tune the DDM4 V7 for your ammo weight of choice, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. 

Moving down, we come to the trigger guard which is an enlarged design based on real steel KAC trigger guards. The guard allows plenty of space for full finger gloves and also includes ledges designed to give your finger a place to chill between shots. The trigger itself is a curved milspec trigger and the pistol grip is the EMG Alpha 19 ergonomic pistol grip, a unique EMG design made from fantastic quality high density polymer. 

At the rear of the receiver, we can find the prolific M4/AR-15 buffer tube, offering 6 positions of adjustment for the pre-installed APS RS-3 stock. This buffer tube differs from the usual, being mounted to a folding mechanism styled after the real steel LAW Tactical folding stock adapter. Lifting the buffer tube up allows it to fold to the left side for storage, transportation of close quarters combat, something almost every M4/AR-15 platform on the market lacks. The stock locks firmly in the folded position and can quickly be redeployed by simply folding it back, with no fiddly buttons or catches to slow you down. 

Mounted to the buffer tube, we have the APS RS-3 sliding stock, a fantastic stock design inspired by some of the best real steel AR stocks on the market. The RS-3 is an A-frame design with the adjustment lever concealed in the centre, reducing snags while keeping adjustments quick and easy. On either side, we have a QD sling socket, one of which will be fitted with a QD sling swivel. Also present on the RS-3 are a pair of conventional "footman loop" sling slots, ideal for old-school strap slings. On the bottom of the stock folding mech, we have one last sling point; a paracord loop designed for a single-point sling, giving you plenty of versatility in the form of built-in sling options.

The battery compartment of the DDM4 V7 is inside the buffer tube, accessible with the RS-3 sliding stock removed. To achieve this, pull the adjustment pin at the front of the adjustment lever out, then slide the stock off the rear. Inside the buffer tube, you'll find a Deans battery connector to which you mount your choice of battery. We recommend a 7.4V 600mAh LiPo in PDW stick configuration. You may be able to fit a bigger battery inside but you'll have to work around the automotive fuse mounted to the wiring loom inside the buffer tube. 

Inside, the DDM4 V7 is equipped with the APS Silver Edge II gearbox, a version 2 gearbox equipped with 18:1 CNC steel gears, a polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack, a stainless steel cylinder and a double O-ring piston head. The spring guide is also quick change, making power tuning far easier than conventional V2 gearboxes. Also inside is a high torque motor and APS Micro-FET, a compact in-line MOSFET designed to eliminate semi-auto trigger lockups and keep electrical efficiency at a peak. The inner barrel is also a 6.03mm tightbore example, improving accuracy with high quality ammo and providing a slight FPS boost from the same spring thanks to improved air-efficiency.
