So you are after an optic, eh buddy? The PCS ELCAN C79/M145 Optical sight is a detailed replica of the real steel C79 issued to the Canadian Armed Forces for use on their C7 and C8 rifles which is also often seen on M249 and M240 machine guns used by the US Army as the M145 Machine Gun Optic.
This optic is fully adjustable for windage and elevation, and adjustments are made via the mount itself similarly to the SUSAT optic previously issued with the L85/SA80 which makes for a more recoil-resistant sight ideally suited to fire support platforms. The ELCAN is fitted with an integral 20mm Picatinny mount, meaning you can mount it directly to the vast majority of Airsoft rifles, including the M4...er...C8A1.
Offering fixed 4.5x magnification, this sight is ideal for a light machine gun with long range, allowing you to get a clearer view of your target and benefit from a wide field of view so you can keep an eye on your target's mates in case they try something. Description
Whether you are working on your US Army machine gunner loadout or you run a Canadian Armed Forces loadout this optic should be on your list! The PCS ELCAN C79 M145 4.5x Optical Sight replicates the real steel ELCAN C79 and M145 Machine Gun Optic used by the Canadian military and the US Army. The scope can be mounted via its integral 20mm Picatinny mount and is fully adjustable for both windage and elevation.
Elevation adjustments are applied via the dial at the rear of the mount, just beneath the ocular lens, and turning the dial will raise the scope itself up and down in the mount, with audible clicks with each adjustment increment and no tools required.
The dial at the front left of the mount will move the optic from left to right, and a flat head screwdriver, coin or similar tool is required to turn the dial. This was designed into the real steel ELCAN to make it more recoil-resistant and shockproof than similar optics of its era which is a big reason it was chosen to fulfil the US Army's need for a machine gun specific scope.
The scope itself is protected by a removable rubber over mould cover with an iconic ribbed design, meaning anyone who knows optics can spot an ELCAN C79 a mile away. The cover prevents the optic from taking the full brunt of any in game bumps or scrapes and also has quite useless backup sights moulded into the top. The sights are as flexible as their rubber construction would imply, but in the real world having some sort of index point to aim with is better than nothing!
The original ELCAN used to be an Airsoft essential, and though it may be a bit long in the tooth compared to the more modern options it is the perfect optic for an old-school milsim setup. Optics like this are becoming harder and harder to find as time goes by as any old-school kit enthusiast will know.
