If you have plans to upgrade an SMG-5 to shoot like a laser beam, with the rate of fire of a minigun, why bother doing all the legwork and fine-tuning yourself? The Bolster Tuned CM.041 SMG-5 Upgraded AEG; Warhead Edition is the latest generation of the well-received Bolster Tuned CM.041 series, put together by the same team that built the ultra-high-end Bolster Armouries ONYX AEG series and benefits from all the experience and expertise gained from a lifetime of Airsoft tech work and several successful Bolster Tuned AEG drops.
This new generation of Tuned SMG-5 is rocking a Warhead 27K Brushless Motor, Bolster Armouries EZO bearings, a Bolster Armouries AOE Correction Washer along with complimentary parts to keep it running reliably long term. Replacing the basic CYMA ETU, we have the space-aged Gate ASTER™ ETU, offering a wealth of programming options and equipped with the latest EXPERT Firmware. The HOP-up has been modified with Bolster Armouries HOP-up screws for better air seal and setting retention and a Prometheus Purple HOP-up rubber and Nub was added to extend the range out to 60 meters and beyond. An FPS Softair Carbon Fibre Reinforced Tappet Plate ensures reliable feeding with the powerful Warhead brushless motor and an SHS Hardened Steel D Type Pinion Gear was added to cope with the higher levels of torque and speed. Unlike other custom Airsoft gun services, Bolster Tuned platforms are all pre-built and ready to ship the next day with no lead time!
A lot of extra work was put in to refine the mass-produced CYMA gearbox and make it run like a Bolster. The inner surfaces of the gearbox have been polished for reduced friction and modified to house the ASTER™ ETU. The cylinder windows have been radiused, increasing the strength of the shell to withstand the force of repeated piston impacts and the bearing holes have been smoothed out to reduce friction. The angle of engagement has also been corrected, meaning 11.1V LiPo's are a go for the upgraded CM.041 so you can hose the enemy down with a torrent of BBs like a fireman hoses a blaze.
With upgrades added and work done, the price has increased, but by a far smaller margin than it would if you took a stock CM.041 to a technician and paid for this amount of work to be done. Finally, we can pick up and play with an exceptionally well-built AEG with all the fine-tuning necessary for exceptional performance already complete, and done with care, to an exacting standard.
When we tested the Warhead Edition we were absolutely stunned; it's even faster than the original Tuned CM.041! 320 FPS on the dot with remarkable consistency, 60m+ effective range and an absolutely scary rate of fire of 27 rounds per second; more than enough to outshoot anything else you can buy off the shelf!

If you are a big fan of the SMG-5K but want to reach out and contend with the bigger AEGs, the Bolster Tuned CYMA CM.041L SMG-5K is the only one that can do it! This Upgraded AEG has been built and tuned by the expert technicians at Bolster Armouries and features the incredible Gate ASTER MOSFET, WarHead Brushless 27K Base Motor,Prometheus Purple HOP-up rubber and nub, an extended 260mm 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel and an enhanced Type D cylinder from FPS Softair.
Not content with simply dropping parts in, the Bolster team has carried out a professional shim job, a complete gearbox rebuild, reapplication of high quality lubricants and a HOP-up unit modification to maximise efficiency and consistency. The result of this extensive tuning and parts replacements is an AEG we can confidently say will hit out to 60m + accurately with 0.28g BBs and rip off rounds at an astonishing 25 rounds per second with an 11.1V LiPo battery.
As with other Bolster Tuned/Patrol Base Custom platforms, if this high benchmark for performance is not met, the AEG goes back to the workbench for more work and won't be sold until it meets the teams' lofty standards. To make this high standard achievable, the team inspect the barrel of each AEG to be tuned, give them a thorough polish and install the impressive Prometheus Purple HOP-up bucking and nub to improve shot-to-shot consistency and provide a stronger HOP-up effect.
