Umarex GLOCK 22 Gen.4 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol

The UMAREX GLOCK 22 Gen.4 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol is a fantastic hybrid of the Airsoft and Airgun worlds, providing high FPS using standard 6mm Airsoft BBs. That said, this beast is more than a tad too hot to skirmish with, hitting out at an impressive 400 FPS approximately using 0.2g BBs. This means it makes one heck of a target shooter, delivering enough energy to knock down steel popper targets designed for Airguns reliably with high gas efficiency compared to Airsoft Glocks. If you're more of a backyard plinker than a skirmisher, this is the Glock replica for you!

Starting at the front, we have detailed mock rifling inside the muzzle, designed to add to the realistic looks and conceal the brass inner barrel inside. This makes the GLOCK 22 Gen.4 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol a great prop for photoshoots or videos, adding to its non-skirmishing usefulness! Being a fair bit cheaper than Airsoft Glock replicas, this would also make a fantastic wall hanger or display piece, boasting licenced markings and flawless looks. 

The slide is constructed from alloy and a flawless match for the real steel Glock 22 Gen.4, equipped with white dot and U open iron sights and licenced Glock trademarks. The markings on the left side read "GLOCK 22 Gen 4" followed by "AUSTRIA", followed by ".40". On the right side, we have the serial number on both the slide and chamber, with a small Glock logo just below and to the rear of the detailed mock extractor. The top of the chamber includes more markings, with a .40 calibre marking on the top, just like the real Glock 22.  

Moving down to the frame, we can find a 20mm pistol rail at the front, ideally suited to laser aiming devices or tactical flashlights. Recessed inside the rail, we can find the trigger disconnect safety, revealing a red enamel dot when the pistol is ready to fire or a white enamel dot when in safe mode. The safety can be slid back and forth to switch between safe and fire and is ideal for disabling the trigger when the pistol is stored, preventing any curious fingers from hurting themselves!

The trigger guard matches the real Glock perfectly, with a recurved front face ideal for recoil control when shooting with the European grip and additional texture for optimal traction. The trigger itself is a close match for the real Glock, with a central blade which functions as a safety device and needs to be pressed in before firing. Above the trigger on each side, we have realistic mock disassembly levers which don't function but are nonetheless an essential part of a realistic Glock replica. 

Moving on to the grip, we can find square dot texture on either side with finger ridges at the front, just like the real Glock Gen.4 series. The rear of the grip includes a lanyard mounting port, ideal for a retention lanyard so your pistol doesn't go missing. The magazine release is the enlarged gen.4/5 style, meaning it is well within reach, even for those with smaller hands. The slide release catch is just above, a dummy control on this NBB Glock but included to complete the look. On each side of the grip, we have yet more Glock trademarks. The left side features the iconic Glock logo, and over on the right we have "Officially Licenced Product of Glock" in raised text moulded into the top of the grip. 

Performance-wise, the GLOCK 22 Gen.4 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol is, as the name implies, strictly for target shooting due to its spicy FPS. On the chronograph, this thing hits out at approximately 400 FPS on 0.2g BBs but is more consistent than most Airsoft Glocks thanks to its efficient NBB action, ideal for printing tight groupings at close range. While it may not have a HOP-up, accuracy is very good, though this is limited to relatively close ranges due to the laws of physics! 

Mag compatibility-wise, the Glock 22 Gen.4 Target Shooting Pistol takes its own 14rnd proprietary magazine available via UMAREX under part number 2.6427.1. This magazine is similar but not compatible with AEP pistols; a slim design with a simple BB track, loaded through the port on the rear with the follower locked in its lowest position. When you've filled it with BBs, release the follower to tension the magazine. 

The CO2 is stored in the grip, accessible through the rear. To access the CO2 compartment, simply pull the backstrap away from the grip and it will hinge open. Pop a 12g Unthreaded CO2 capsule inside, close it up then tighten the built-in folding CO2 key inside the magazine well by turning it clockwise until you hear the CO2 capsule pierce. Insert your loaded magazine and you're ready to shoot!

If you're looking for a Glock replica ideal for target shooting, the UMAREX GLOCK 22 Gen.4 CO2 Target Shooting Pistol is a fine choice for a great price. Hitting out at high FPS with no HOP-up makes this piece unsuitable for skirmishing but its gorgeous build quality and licenced trademarks make it a great low-cost alternative to GBB Glocks for the collectors and plinkers out there!
