If you're in search of an LMG for milsim skirmishes or you're a real stickler for the details, you need the Cybergun T8 SP Systems FN Herstal MK46 MOD 0 LMG AEG! Patterned after the real steel MK46 MOD 0, the special forces optimised variant of the legendary M249/Minimi, this is a proper MK46 replica; constructed with a steel receiver, stamped FN Herstal markings licenced by Cybergun and no M4 mag feeding capability, just like the real thing.
M4 mag compatibility was removed from the real steel MK46 to reduce weight and is correctly replicated in the Cybergun MK46, though even with the weight reduction, it is a hefty beast! This is due to its plethora of steel externals, including the lower receiver, flash hider, stock base, dust cover, rear sight and trim. The other externals are made from strong alloy, with a superb quality high density polymer stock and pistol grip and a CNC aluminium 20mm Picatinny railed handguard. Make no mistake, this is probably the best built MK46 replica out there currently!
Inside, we have a CA M4249 style gearbox, a significantly reinforced design well suited to sustained fire. The internals include 18:1 ratio CNC steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings, a polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack and a high torque motor. The gearbox shell is cut to allow for a quick change spring system, making power tuning a piece of cake compared to conventional gearboxes.
To provide improved long range accuracy and a boost in air-efficiency, a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel is also fitted along with an alloy rotary HOP-up and a T8 purple HOP-up bucking; a decent step up from the usual stock components. If you're after a modern LMG which is built to bomb proof standards and shoots well as a bonus, the Cybergun T8 SP Systems FN Herstal MK46 MOD 0 LMG AEG is ideal!

Description
If you need an LMG that feels like the real McCoy, the Cybergun T8 SP Systems FN Herstal MK46 MOD 0 LMG AEG should keep you happy! One of the best made Airsoft LMGs on the market today, this beast is full metal with a massive proportion of steel in the build, from the trim parts to the single piece stamped steel lower receiver. Naturally, this makes this one hefty LMG, tipping the scales at approximately 5.7KG unloaded!
The real steel MK46 came about following a US SOCOM requirement for a weight-reduced M249 SPW variant with improved reliability and accessory compatibility. As such, the MK46 omits the M4/AR-15 magazine compatibility of the original M249, replaces the light profile SPW barrel with a fluted heavy profile barrel and adds in plenty of 20mm Picatinny rails for the oodles of lasers, flashlights and other mission-essential Special Forces require. The Cybergun version replicates all of these features perfectly, making it one of the few Airsoft MK46 replicas that gets everything right!
Starting up front, we can find the MK46 style birdcage muzzle device constructed from polymer, mounted to the 14mm CCW male threading at the tip of the alloy outer barrel. This device is exactly what appears on the MK46, a reinforced version of the M4/M16 birdcage designed for sustained fire and to maintain common suppressor compatibility. If you want to change it out for something a bit different, or you want to add a tracer unit, this is possible thanks to the common 14mm CCW threading.
The front sight and gas block assembly mount to the barrel, providing a fine front sight post protected inside a ring and a mock gas adjuster below, appropriately simulating the adjustable gas system of the real MK46. The gas adjuster is constructed from steel and can be rotated but doesn't provide a function in an AEG. Behind the mock gas adjuster, we come to the single piece lower receiver which is made from stamped steel and is solid as a rock, with all the details a proper replica needs, including flawlessly engraved and stamped FN Herstal trademarks. On each side, we are treated to sling port stamped into the receiver at the front, ideal for hook slings and well up to supporting the significant mass of the MK46, provided you are!
Moving rearwards, we come to the handguard of the MK46 which is equipped with 20mm Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions, ready for your choice of 20mm attachments. The set includes a stubby vertical grip which is well suited to the MK46, keeping this compact so you have room for a bipod and other mission essentials. The handguard is constructed from CNC machined aluminium with a polymer lower section which hosts the separate CNC aluminium bottom rail.
At the front of the receiver, we can find the barrel removal latch which appropriately replicates the QD barrel mechanism of the real deal. Being a front wired design, the barrel needs to be removed to install your battery, but this is thankfully really simple. Simply push the barrel removal catch on the left side down and the barrel will pop out slightly, allowing it to be pulled free through the front of the handguard. With the barrel removed, you'll see a Deans connector inside the lower handguard. We recommend a 7.4V 1450mAh LiPo battery with a Deans connector for an easy fit beneath the barrel. With your battery inserted and the barrel latch held in the open position, carefully reinstall the outer barrel, being careful not to trap any wires and you're ready to rock!
The receiver top cover follows just behind, made from alloy with a 20mm Picatinny rail running along the top and the steel rear sight at the back. The rail allows a red dot sight or scope to be mounted quickly and easily, though the iron sights are a very nice alternative. Offering a wide range of elevation and windage adjustment via the drums on the left side, this rear sight is very effective, offering a wide aperture similar to M4/AR-15 "ghost ring" sights.
On either side at the rear, we have a pair of buttons which can be pressed to lift the top cover and allow the feed chute of the box mag to be connected. To achieve this, simply install the mag from the left side until it locks into place beneath the LMG. Next, lift the top cover and position the feed mechanism on the top, sliding it towards the centre to engage with the feed chute and HOP-up unit where it will lock into place.
The battery compartment for the mag is on the bottom and accessible with the zipper undone, requiring a 9V battery to power the auto-winding feed mechanism. The mode selection button for the mag is on the right side beneath the zipper, offering sound control mode, auto-winding mode and "off" in the centre. Sound control will wind the mag when the internal microphone detects firing, and auto-winding will continuously wind the mag, ideal for priming the mag before inserting it. On the right side of the top of the mag, you'll find the fill window which is where you load your BBs, easily accessible without removing the box mag from the gun.
As mentioned, either side of the steel receiver features realistic markings and all the details an authentic replica needs. The trademarks on the right side read "US MACHINE GUN 5.56MM MK46 MOD 0" with the serial number and manufacturer product number below. On the left, we have the iconic FN Herstal logo with "MINIMI 5.56" alongside, making this MK46 as at home on display in a museum as it is on the field!
The controls of the MK46 are super simple, with a push-through fire selector located just above the pistol grip offering SAFE and FULL AUTO. Just like the real thing, there is no semi-automatic function on the MK46, making it a purebred support weapon designed for large volumes of fire but not suitable for most CQB sites. When the push-through fire selector protrudes on the right side, the trigger will be locked and in safe mode, and with the selector protruding on the left, the MK46 is set to fully automatic and ready to burn down the enemy team!
The grip is a comfortable design which was derived from that of the FN FAL and has been added to several tactical AK variants to improve their ergonomics. Boasting linear texture on all sides to keep the hefty MK46 in your hands during wet weather or when wearing gloves, the grip also has a palm ledge at the bottom to improve stability.
The adjustable HOP-up of the MK46 is located inside the receiver at the front and can be accessed by lifting the receiver top cover and mock feed tray. Pressing the two buttons on either side of the rear of the receiver will release the top cover and it will spring open to reveal the internals. The HOP-up unit is a rotary design equipped with a T8 purple HOP-up bucking, meaning it should hold its setting well under the vibrations of full auto fire and can be adjusted in finer increments than the older gear adjuster design.
At the rear of the receiver, we can find the MK46 specific stock assembly; a 4 position M4/AR-15 buffer tube mounted to a steel base with a sling loop on the top. The buffer tube allows the stock to be set at various lengths so you get the perfect shooting position, regardless of your loadout or body type. The stock itself is a modern design with an A-frame configuration, keeping the adjustment lever out of the way to reduce snags. On each side, we have a QD sling socket ready for QD swivels to be added and a footman loop sling slot, ideal for conventional strap slings. The stock also features a rubber butt plate with deep serrations, keeping the MK46 firmly lodged in your shoulder as you put down a hail of fire!
Inside the Cybergun T8 MK46 we are equipped with a CA M4249 style gearbox, a significantly reinforced design well suited to sustained fire. The inner barrel is also a 6.03mm tightbore example paired with a T8 purple HOP-up bucking, enhancing long range performance and improving air-efficiency for a slight FPS boost with the same spring strength.
Whether you're a milsim skirmisher looking for a legit LMG or you're an FN Herstal fan looking for an authentic MK46 for the collection, the Cybergun T8 SP Systems FN Herstal MK46 MOD 0 LMG AEG is a real beast! Built like a tank using fantastic quality stamped steel with finely engraved and stamped FNH trademarks, this MK46 looks the business and does the business downrange!
