The Bolster Armouries MOONSTONE [Special Edition] is the latest evolution of the original MOONSTONE Precision Hi-capa GBB presented in two handsome colour variations, adding a healthy dose of metallic flare to the Bolster Armouries Custom Hi-capa formula. The externals of the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] have once again been entrusted to Airsoft Masterpiece, whose precisely machined CNC parts made up the gorgeous externals the original Bolster Armouries Precision Hi-capas were known for. 

The MOONSTONE [Dawn] boasts a luxurious metallic purple finish on its grip, outer barrel, recoil rod and magazine baseplates which combines with its satin and gloss silver parts for a clean and professional look with more than its fair share of the distinctively boutique Bolster style. 

The MOONSTONE [Dusk] uses the same proportion of coloured to silver parts but makes use of a metallic blue frame with a silver grip for an alternative, regal look, with the frosty cold aesthetic that will send chills down the spine of anyone who has to face it on the skirmish field. 

The Special Edition MOONSTONE combines competition styling with combat functionality, adding a shortened 3.9 length 20mm Railed frame and 4.3 length slide for a faster draw and fixed combat iron sights with authentic fibre optic inserts so you are able to acquire your sights effectively in any ambient lighting condition. 

The tried and tested internals have also been updated, and now feature the Waldo Customs BUFF short stroke kit together with Waldo Customs' Snappy boi and Lil-Snap springs which pair with the supreme quality Airsoft Masterpiece and Nineball steel controls. Airsoft Masterpiece STI COSTA VIP Hi-capa 4.3 GBB Slide - CNC Machined Aluminium 

The Bolster Armouries team are big fans of Airsoft Masterpiece components, and it should come as no surprise that Airsoft Masterpiece parts form the basis for the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] GBB pistol. For the new combat-optimised MOONSTONE variant, the STI COSTA VIP Hi-capa 4.3 slide was chosen due to its stylish but discrete looks, and its subtle combat pistol style design cues.

The slide is precisely machined from aluminium using CNC processes to maintain the ultra sharp external details and an exceptionally smooth frame-to-slide interface, guaranteeing slick cycling and contributing to the impressive efficiency of the MOONSTONE [Special Edition]. 

One of the hallmarks of a custom built Airsoft GBB pistol is the ultra-tight tolerances between the slide and frame, which is the case on the Bolster Armouries MOONSTONE [Special Edition]. There is absolutely no rattle or wobble to be found, translating to better mechanical efficiency, better gas efficiency and a flawlessly robust feel which cannot be matched by mass-produced GBB pistols.  

The front of the STI COSTA slide is bevelled to assist in reholstering swiftly when working under pressure. The bevel helps guide your pistol back into its holster and opens up greater possibilities for experienced users to reholster on the move, or without first looking down to locate their holster. Slight enhancements such as this contribute to overall ergonomics and efficiency of movement when using the MOONSTONE [Special Edition], even for experienced shooters, and saving a few precious seconds or reducing the chances of inadvertently missing your holster is something shooters of any level of proficiency will appreciate. 

Slide bevels and other combat-oriented enhancements are starting to find their way into the more up-to-date service pistol designs in the real world, such as the Glock Generation 5 series and the Sig M17, and being well aware of this, the Bolster Armouries team sought a slide for this build that keeps the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] competitive with even the most recent real world pistol designs.

The STI COSTA slide also features weight-reducing fluting instead of the typical ports found on high speed race pistols, which is in keeping with its skirmish focussed design. Combat pistols are expected to perform in rough conditions, and as skirmishers know this can often involve dusty and muddy environments. Most standard "service" pistols use a solid slide, but for Bolster Armouries this wasn't considered good enough.

The use of fluting keeps the weight of the slide down similarly to ported slides without compromising on reliability by opening up ports which can become a route for dirt and debris ingress, which may affect the reliability of the pistol. The COSTA VIP slide provides a great compromise between having a well-sealed system and having a spritely slide which cycles in a fraction of a second for an unbeatable rate of fire in game.

Airsoft Masterpiece Advanced Frame S Style - CNC Machined Aluminium 

As is the case with the slide, the Airsoft masterpiece Advanced frame is constructed from CNC machined aluminium to provide the tight tolerances necessary for high performance together with eye-catching looks and perfect machining. The Advanced Frame is shorter than the standard full-length Hi-capa frame at the front end which saves weight while still keeping the recoil rod and spring protected from dust. 

The dust cover has a 20mm Picatinny rail machined in which is ideally located to mount a tactical pistol flashlight or laser aiming module, giving the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] the rail real estate to mount a combat practical suite of accessories. A flashlight or laser mounted here will be well within the reach of the shooter's trigger finger or thumb when holding the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] in a firing grip, making for intuitive operation when the adrenaline is pumping. 

The rail also has a milled relief cut along its length to remove any excess weight, compensating for any weight gained with the addition of the rail itself. Thoughtful design practices like this are among the many things which drew the eyes of the Bolster Armouries team, and this frame allows the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] to keep the low weight and impressive handling qualities of the original MOONSTONE in this new, combat-optimised format. 

The combination of this shortened frame and the 4.3 length slide gives the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] a look which is unlike any other Airsoft Hi-capa; MOONSTONE [Special Edition] owners need not worry about having their Bolster Armouries masterpiece mistaken for Raven's latest release, even at a distance!

Airsoft Masterpiece Aluminium Grip Type 8 - CNC Machined Aluminium 

The Airsoft Masterpiece Aluminium Grip Type 8 is one of the more unique aspects of the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] external design and is loaded with practical features, with trim parts that shine like the crown jewels. 
The type 8 grip is machined using ultra-precise CNC technology and is constructed from a single piece of aluminium to guarantee strength and perfect magazine engagement. The stylish externals of this grip are a big part of what gives the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] its alluringly unique looks and was the perfect choice to pair with the Airsoft Masterpiece frame and slide. 

The Type 8 grip also includes an integrated trigger guard with a flat front face for additional recoil control and faster follow-up shots thanks to reduced muzzle flip. The Trigger guard of the Type 8 Grip boasts what are known as trigger guard undercuts, which provide a comfortable and consistent position on which to index your support hand. Undercuts are a recent phenomenon but are finding their way into more and more pistols due to their inherent advantage of allowing the pistol to be held further up the grip, keeping recoil forces in line with the arm whilst shooting, making the pistol easier to control and bring back onto target for a follow-up shot.

This also allows for a higher grip which promotes more effective recoil control and more intuitive pointing of the pistol. The strong hand undercut smoothly transitions to a single finger groove, which leads on to carefully machined diamond texturing. The diamond checker pattern wraps around the entire grip, with finer texture on the mainspring housing at the rear. The edges of each of the raised diamond checkers have rounded relief cuts on the surface to give the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] its luxurious yet effective grip. 

Each side of the grip has a cutout, known as the "Mobius cut". This cut-out adds a high-speed, custom style to the already distinctive MOONSTONE [Special Edition] grip, giving it an air of individuality you can only get with a custom Airsoft pistol. The Mobius cut doesn't just serve an aesthetic purpose; it also helps reduce weight and keep the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] lightweight and nimble.

The grip comes with a steel magazine catch which has a striking gloss silver finish, adding subtle highlights to the already eye-catching MOONSTONE [Special Edition]. The magazine catch is checkered for additional grip and cut at an angle, allowing faster engagement and a simple sweep down with the thumb to release the magazine. This departs from traditional extended magazine catch designs with the angled cut. Standard extended mag catches often require you to lift your thumb from its index point to hit the very top of the magazine catch; a far more demanding operation when under pressure than a simple sweep downwards. The steel construction of the mag catch guarantees effective retention of the magazine and a consistent height for the gas route bucking; contributing to the MOONSTONE [Limited Edition]'s impressive gas efficiency.

At the base of the grip, the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] provides one of the best parts for improving reload speed; a magazine well extension, complete with a wide inner bevel. This device enables smooth reloads and reduces the possibility of messing up when time is of the essence. This part is finished in a "bushed Aluminium" effect, providing a little bit of subtle contrast to the set and only adding to its beauty. The magazine well extension also functions as a palm rest, preventing the pistol from being gripped too low and ensuring you have an effective grip, even when going full speed against the clock!

Light enhancing Authentic Fibre Optic Iron Sights

The sights provided on the Bolster Armouries MOONSTONE [Special Edition] are light-enhancing fibre optic iron sights, and were chosen as the best balance between speed of acquisition and accuracy. This style of sight is growing in popularity amongst Airsofters and is seen as a decent low profile alternative to a red dot sight; maintaining compatibility with holsters and working perfectly without the need for a battery. 

Many of the more affordable Airsoft pistols with light enhancing sights use coloured acrylic rods, which work fine in most lighting conditions. For the Bolster Armouries team, this is considered simply not enough to do this stunning GBB pistol justice and as such, the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] comes equipped with real fibre optic inserts, contained within rock solid, CNC machined aluminium fixed combat sights manufactured by AIP. 

The front sight insert is green which works in perfect harmony with the red inserts in the rear sight to guarantee you will never get your sight dots mixed up in the heat of battle, or at a pivotal match-changing moment. Each of the sights is an open design to encourage maximum light transmission to make the sights highly visible whatever the ambient lighting conditions, and as easy to pick up and point as a red dot sight.

Airsoft Masterpiece .45 Threaded Outer barrel & Guide Rod - CNC Aluminium

The MOONSTONE [Special Edition] is equipped with the Airsoft Masterpiece .45 threaded outer barrel and guide rod, both of which are CNC machined from Aluminium for a flawless external finish. Both parts are beautifully anodised in a coloured finish to compliment each variant of the MOONSTONE [Special Edition], contributing to the overall aesthetic and giving each pistol a sprinkle of stylish flair which is bound to draw curious eyes at the skirmish, or shooting competition. 

The barrel itself has female threads at the tip which can accept any 11mm CW female to 14mm CCW male thread adapter if you want to shoot the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] with a suppressor or tracer unit attached. If you prefer its natural looks, the female threading means you don't have to rock the aggressive stylings of a male threaded barrel pistol, and can instead enjoy the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] the way its creators intended. 

Keeping these parts aluminium not only saves on the physical weight of the pistol but helps improve gas efficiency due to the Hi-capa platform being a tilting barrel design. The lower the weight of the moving parts (slide, barrel and guide rod) the faster the pistol will cycle. This also helps save on gas and allows the MOONSTONE [Special Edition] to keep on shooting in colder weather, and even retain its performance with a suppressor attached, as long as it is one of relatively low weight.

What would a custom Airsoft Hi-capa be without some custom magazines to fuel it on to victory? Never being content with "stock" parts, the Bolster Armouries techs have added some enhancements to the two Tokyo Marui Hi-capa magazines included with the MOONSTONE [Special Edition].

To ensure the seal between the magazine and the nozzle is tight the stock gas route bucking has been replaced with the Nineball Gas Route Bucking, which is constructed from temperature-resistant rubber to provide superb performance well into the winter months and prevent cracks from developing which will eventually result in a leak. The improved interface between the gas route bucking and the nozzle results in better gas efficiency, and even a slight FPS boost over the original Tokyo Marui gas route bucking, which is already above average. 

The original baseplates have also been replaced with Airsoft Masterpiece Aluminium baseplates to give the magazines the looks to match the highly customised MOONSTONE [Special Edition] pistols. The MOONSTONE [Dusk] comes with SV style baseplates in metallic blue, and the MOONSTONE [Dawn] includes Infinity style baseplates in metallic purple. The magazine bodies themselves are chrome silver, and we must say, the magazines look nearly as alluring as the pistols themselves!
