Based on a build conceived by the late founder of the Huddersfield Practical Shooting Club (HPSC), the Bolster Armouries FARRAR Precision Hi-Capa is named for its creator, the one and only Mark Farrar. Mark was and always will be a legend in AIPSC and a massive influence on the sport as a whole. His Airsoft legacy lives on in the FARRAR Precision Hi-Capa built by his protégé, Jake of Bolster Armouries.

Based on the menacing real steel "Smoking Hole" build, the FARRAR boasts the immaculately machined Airsoft Masterpiece "Smoking Holes" Open Slide and Frame Kit paired with the Airsoft Masterpiece CNC Aluminium Grip Type 8, giving you the absolute best in external quality with positively flawless handling worthy of a steel ringing, paper shredding clock beating machine!

The real steel "Smoking Hole" is a classic IPSC platform from the late 1990s built until the early 2000s by race gun pioneer Aaron Harris of Smoking Hole Pistol Design. This is the Sand Viper's grandaddy, rocking a similar swept-back compensator up front but with a style all of its own, unlike any mass-produced GBB pistol you'll encounter on game day.

Designed to meet the demanding performance requirements of an "Open Division" race gun, the FARRAR Precision Hi-Capa is equipped with everything you will need to perform your best at any competitive shooting event, and would also be a fearsome contender in an Airsoft skirmish. Its red dot sighting system, the notable Vector Optics Frenzy-X is paired with the utterly slick JLP Amphibious Mount, bringing the FARRAR into line with the cutting edge of modern handgun shooting doctrine in both competitive and combat scenarios.

Airsoft Masterpiece External Parts

"Smoking Holes" Open Slide & Frame Kit - CNC Aluminium with Steel Outer Barrel & Guide Rod

The Airsoft Masterpiece Smoking Hole Open Slide & Frame kit is CNC machined from aircraft-grade aluminium, rocking an intimidating aura with its aggressive compensator, extended dust cover and sharp, clean lines across the design. It's hard to believe that the real steel version of this build originated in the late '90s as a handmade custom build given its state-of-the-art aesthetic.

As is the convention with "Open Division" pistols, you won't find iron sights on the FARRAR Precision Hi-Capa. The rear iron sight dovetail remains, but instead of a sight it now houses a CNC machined aluminium cocking handle which protrudes on the left side of the pistol. The cocking handle replaces the slide serrations of standard pistols, opting instead for a more easily grabbed handle which you will never miss when time is of the essence.

The cocking handle has zig-zag style diamond texturing to ensure the smooth and flawless finish does not inhibit your grip on this essential control. Stylistic serrations are also present at the front and rear of the slide, providing a secondary gripping surface at the rear so you can keep the pistol under control in those moments when it all goes wrong, and carry out some rapid corrective actions to prevent a DQ.

The compensator of the slide kit is a big part of the unique Smoking Hole aesthetic, boasting a unique swept-back design and dual ports at the top for a menacing, means business look. As we might expect from Airsoft Masterpiece, the compensator is machined from a single piece of aircraft-grade aluminium and attaches directly to the barrel, floating freely inside the extended dustcover so it doesn't slow down the speedy FARRAR's slide.

The compensator not only looks fantastic with its dynamic linear serrations and hexagonal trim but adds weight to make the front end easier to control when sweeping between targets, allowing for rapid follow-up shots without the potential of oversteering the pistol and wasting precious seconds when speed is a priority.

The design of the compensator makes it appear almost integral to the slide and frame, with ultra-tight tolerances and a flawless fit. Both the comp and slide feature linear grooves running from the front to the rear, along with crosshatch-style serrations for press-checks and providing an alternative to the charging handle for cocking the pistol.

Across the top, we have additional hexagonal engravings, adding to the inimitable Smoking Hole aesthetic while functioning to prevent glare from ambient light sources reflecting off the top of the slide and interfering with your sight picture. In the real firearm, this texture also prevents a "heat mirage" from forming during rapid fire, ensuring the shooter has a clear view of the target.

As is the case with the slide, the Smoking Hole frame is constructed from CNC machined aluminium to provide the tight tolerances necessary for high performance together with eye-catching looks and a perfect finish. This particular frame extends the full length of the slide and compensator, meeting them with flawlessly tight tolerances resulting in no rattle, nowhere for dust or debris to enter and the perfectly fitted, professional look of a high-end IPSC platform.

The dust cover is angled at the front, matching the swept-back compensator and includes machined hexagonal trim texture along each side, matching that at the top of the slide and comp to complete the Smoking Hole styling. The outer barrel is well hidden beneath the slide when it is in battery, as is the recoil rod, but both are constructed from steel to provide the necessary strength for a long life span.

The outer barrel profile flares out considerably at the tip, a design attribute present on the real steel Smoking Hole pistol, intended to impart maximum accuracy by ensuring the barrel-to-slide fitting is tight. This translates directly to the FARRAR Precision Hi-Capa, one of its major perks which ensures you get the accuracy of a non-tilting outer barrel along with maximum realism.

Airsoft Masterpiece Aluminium Grip Type 8 - CNC Machined Aluminium

The Airsoft Masterpiece Aluminium Grip Type 8 is one of the more unique aspects of the FARRAR external design and is loaded with practical features, with trim parts that shine like the Crown Jewels.

The Type 8 grip is machined using ultra-precise CNC technology and is constructed from a single piece of aluminium to guarantee strength and perfect magazine engagement. The stylish externals of this grip are a big part of what gives the FARRAR its flawless handling, perfect balance and gorgeous looks, making it the perfect choice to pair with the Airsoft Masterpiece Smoking Hole frame and slide.

The Type 8 grip also includes an integrated trigger guard with a flat front face for additional recoil control and faster follow-up shots thanks to reduced muzzle flip. The Trigger guard of the Type 8 Grip boasts what are known as trigger guard undercuts, which provide a comfortable and consistent position on which to index your support hand.

Undercuts are a recent phenomenon but are finding their way into more and more pistols due to their inherent advantage of allowing the pistol to be held further up the grip, keeping recoil forces in line with the arm while shooting, making the pistol easier to control and bring back onto target for a follow-up shot. This also allows for a higher grip which promotes more effective recoil control and more intuitive pointing of the pistol.

The strong hand undercut smoothly transitions to a single finger groove, which leads on to carefully machined diamond texturing. The diamond checker pattern wraps around the entire grip, with finer texture on the mainspring housing at the rear. The edges of each of the raised diamond checkers have rounded relief cuts on the surface to give the FARRAR its luxurious yet effective grip, effective whether you wear gloves or not.

Each side of the grip has a cutout, known as the "Mobius cut". This cut-out adds a high-speed, custom style to the already distinctive FARRAR grip, giving it an air of individuality you can only get with a custom Airsoft pistol. The Mobius cut doesn't just serve an aesthetic purpose; it also helps reduce weight and keep the FARRAR lightweight and nimble as you steer it between targets.

The grip comes with a steel magazine catch which has a striking gloss chrome finish, adding subtle highlights to the already gorgeous FARRAR build. The magazine catch is checkered for additional grip and cut at an angle, allowing faster engagement and a simple sweep down with the thumb to release the magazine. Standard extended mag catches often require you to lift your thumb from its index point to hit the very top of the magazine catch; a far more demanding operation when under pressure than a simple sweep downwards. The steel construction of the mag catch guarantees effective retention of the magazine and a consistent height for the gas route bucking; contributing to the FARRAR's impressive gas efficiency.

At the base of the grip, the FARRAR is equipped with an IPSC pre-requisite; a magazine well extension, complete with a wide inner bevel. This device enables smooth reloads and reduces the possibility of messing up when time is of the essence by guiding the magazine into the magwell, forgiving any slight mistakes in the heat of the moment. An added benefit of the magazine well extension is its functionality as a palm rest, encouraging a consistent, repeatable and effective grip, even when going full speed against the clock!
