If you are a fan of bullpup rifles and you don't have an AUG in your collection you are missing out! The Army Armament KU905 AUG Full Rail AEG is a unique modern take on the famous AUG assault rifle which has served with the militaries of Austria, Australia and New Zealand, and was also wielded by Karl, mercenary companion to Hans Gruber during their attempted take over of Nakatomi Headquarters in the 1988 movie Die Hard.
The KU905 boasts full metal construction, a pre-installed MOSFET and a quad-railed handguard with an integral suppressor, and is a more modern iteration of the AUG with plenty of 20mm rails on the stock/chassis for the addition of accessories. If you need an AUG that can be kitted out like an M4 and has a unique look as a bonus, the KU905 will do everything you need it to!

Description
The AUG is one of the most prolific rifles of the 20th century, both in popular culture and in military service. The AUG has made its mark in service with the Australian and New Zealand armed forces in its licence-built iteration, the F88 Austeyr, and also served with distinction in the Austrian and Irish militaries. The AUG's ultra-modern and unconventional look helped it take centre stage in Die Hard (1988) as the primary weapon of Karl, a classic German bad guy, where the AUG's ability to be disassembled in seconds was showcased and captured the imaginations of a whole generation of firearms enthusiasts, and Airsofters!
The Army Armament KU905 is a unique take on the classic "civilian" railed AUG, with some modern features to go with the futuristic looks of this mould-breaking 1970s bullpup design. The KU905 sports a 20mm Picatinny quad rail which mounts in place of the original AUG's folding grip, providing 20mm rails so you can choose the grip type which suits you best, and side rails for accessories which would usually be difficult to mount on an AUG.
At the front of the railed handguard, we are treated to a pair of QD sling sockets, one on either side. The KU905 comes with two QD sling studs which can be installed on either of these two sockets or the socket on the left side of the stock. This means the KU905 is ready for a quick removable two-point sling setup, and all you need to buy is the sling! The upper rail of the new handguard meets the AUG receiver rail seamlessly, providing a SCAR-like long upper rail with plenty of space to house red dot sight and magnifier combos, or even large rifle scopes for the DMR inclined.
Over on the right side of the handguard, we can see a cutout for the dummy gas block of the KU905. On the real rifle this part controls the gas flow to the operating system and allows the AUG to be tuned for normal or adverse conditions. This part doesn't function in Airsoft terms but is rightly included to keep this AUG replica looking faithful to the real thing.
The KU905 comes with a suppressor pre-installed which sits slightly recessed into the handguard for the integrally suppressed look. This suppressor mounts to the 14mm CCW male threaded outer barrel but the inner barrel runs right to the tip of the suppressor, meaning if you want to add a tracer unit or remove the suppressor and add a flash hider you will need an outer barrel extension.
The suppressor conceals an exceptionally long 540mm inner barrel, meaning the KU905 has superb accuracy potential despite being around the same overall length as a standard M4. This is the main inherent advantage of bullpup rifles and makes the AUG a very space-efficient platform, equally capable of reaching out at range as it is turning and burning up close and personal.
The KU905 may be a modern take on the AUG but it retains all the fantastic features which made the AUG such a forward-thinking design, way ahead of its time. Like the real thing, the KU905 has a hot swap barrel system. This means you can quickly remove the outer barrel either for maintenance or to swap between barrel lengths. To remove the outer barrel you will need to lock the charging handle back and up into its "safety notch" and push and hold the catch found on the left side of the receiver, between the handguard and the trigger guard. With the barrel removal catch held down, the barrel can be rotated by just a few degrees clockwise with the barrel facing away, and you can pull the entire outer barrel and handguard out. The external section of the outer barrel is constructed from alloy, and the section inside the receiver is constructed from polymer with a realistic phosphate style colouration.
The receiver of the KU905 is constructed from alloy for a realistic feel, weight and balance. This receiver differs from the standard AUG receiver as it includes a mounting hole on the right side for a 20mm Picatinny rail which is pre-installed but can be removed if you want a more retro look, or if you already have enough rails and you want to save a bit of weight!
Running along the upper receiver we can find a nice long 20mm Picatinny rail which meets the handguard rail seamlessly, providing a modern look and the functionality to keep up with other cutting-edge designs. This rail length is ample for a full suite of mission essentials, including a PEQ15, optical sight, tactical flashlight and backup iron sights, should you want to dress this AUG up in the special forces style we all love.
Over on the left side of the upper, we can see the charging handle of the KU905. This handle is constructed from high-density polymer and connects to an aluminium rod inside the receiver which actuates the mock bolt to reveal the rotary HOP-up adjuster inside the ejection port. The charging handle can be locked by pulling it to its rearmost point of travel and rotating it upwards into its "safety notch", which will hold the mock bolt back whilst you adjust your HOP-up. The adjustable HOP-up lets you tune the KU905 for different ammo weights and provides an extended range by applying backspin to each BB.
The HOP-up adjuster can be accessed from either side of the AEG thanks to its ambidextrous ejection port design. Out of the box the left side ejection port is covered with a rubber cap, but this can be removed and placed on the right side, or left off the AEG entirely so you can more easily adjust the HOP-up setting on the fly mid skirmish.
The controls of the AUG are quite different to most conventional rifles but are very well designed and functional for both left and right-handed shooters. The safety catch is a push-through design located just above the pistol grip, and when the safety protrudes on the right side the rifle is on safe and the trigger is locked. Pushing the safety through so it protrudes on the left will release the trigger lock. The AUG makes use of a two-stage trigger system, which means a short pull of the trigger will fire semi-automatic, and a full pull to the rear will fire fully automatic. This means if you need to suddenly put a burst down range to deal with a moving target it is faster to switch modes with the AUG platform than practically any other AEG out there.
The grip and stock of the AUG are integrated into one piece as a part of its space-age design, known as the "chassis" of the rifle. This piece is constructed from high-density reinforced polymer with a high quality textured feel. This modernisation of the AUG includes raised textured panels on either side of the grip and on the butt stock itself to assist in wet weather use, and removable 20mm Picatinny rails positioned in front of the grip and to the rear of the optical sight, on both sides. These rails are positioned slightly differently than most but allow the KU905 even more flexibility when it comes to where you mount your accessories. This means if you want to add an action camera or Runcam to your AEG to film your battlefield successes you can without giving up your laser or tactical flashlight.
The trigger guard of the AUG is a super wide "grip length" trigger guard which is largely responsible for the AUG's recognisable silhouette and allows fast access to the trigger even if you use thick winter gloves when skirmishing. This trigger guard can also do double duty as an angled foregrip for use in compressed stances in CQB situations.
The magazine release of the KU905 can be found on the bottom of the stock, just behind the magazine well, and is centrally positioned to allow for both left and right-handed use. This magazine release was way ahead of its time, and somehow despite being one of the first modern bullpup rifles to enter the market, the AUG nailed it first time. Unlike the Tavor, there is no chance that you will accidentally hit the mag release and dump your magazine, and unlike the L85 you don't have to be purebred right-handed to operate it efficiently.
The battery compartment of the KU905 AUG is located inside the stock, and can be accessed by simply pulling the rubber butt plate off. Inside you will find a mini-Tamiya battery connector, and a decently sized battery compartment which can comfortably house either stick or nun-chuck style LiPo batteries. For the R904 we recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo battery in either Nunchuck or Stick configuration.
The internals of this unique AUG rifle have been upgraded since the first Army Armament AUG release, and can now boast a pre-installed MOSFET which protects the circuitry of the AEG and prevents the motor from over spinning and potentially causing damage. The gearbox internals have also been improved, and now include 7mm bearing bushings, reinforced steel gears, a reinforced piston with a directional piston head and a bearing-equipped spring guide, guaranteeing smooth running and a longer life than previous generations. The long inner barrel of this compact AEG also lends itself to superb performance, and the rotary style AUG HOP-up unit is known to be one of the best out there and formed the basis for the rotary unit found in more recent M4/AR15 AEG releases.
Those who have had their eye on a bullpup, but have been put off by the lack of rails on other AUG variants, here is your chance to satisfy that backwards rifle urge. The KU905 has all the bullpup advantages, including short overall length with a long barrel, exceptional handling and balance, and the ability to fit into smaller gun bags and cases than equivalent conventional rifles, and avoids the drawbacks with its addition of a quad-railed handguard so you can mount anything your heart desires.

Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
