Bolster Armouries Drop 5 Platform Preview: The QUARTZ 3.0 & FARRAR Precision Hi-Capa GBB Pistols
Bolster Armouries is back with Drop 5! This time, we have a new variant of the legendary QUARTZ Precision Hi-Capa and the latest Bolster Open Division IPSC platform, known as the FARRAR.
The QUARTZ 3.0 is the latest advancement of the original QUARTZ Precision Hi-capa GBB pistol, keeping the aesthetic of the original but equipped with a new slide style, the Airsoft Masterpiece DVC STEEL Open Slide. The new slide is shorter and lighter than the previously used Infinity IMM Cross Version 5 Open Slide, resulting in a slightly raised cyclic rate, ideal for rapid double taps.
Based on the popular Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa Gold Match, the QUARTZ 3.0 is equipped with CNC-machined steel and aluminium parts from Airsoft Masterpiece with enhanced springs from AIP. The HOP-up unit has been replaced with the Airsoft Masterpiece Brass HOP-up Unit and kitted out with a Laylax/Prometheus 6.00mm Ultra Tight Bore Inner Barrel, Maple Leaf MR HOP-up Bucking and I Key. Also present is the EDGE Customs BEAR Recoil Buffer, short stroking the slide to shave precious seconds from your split times.
Externally, the new QUARTZ 3.0 retains the Airsoft Masterpiece Advanced Frame with Tactical Rail paired with the CNC Aluminium Grip Type 8 of the previous QUARTZ 2.0, giving you the option of running the platform with a tactical flashlight or laser in a skirmish scenario. Also present is the Vector Optics Frenzy-X Red Dot Sight paired with the highly regarded JL Progression Amphibious Mount, giving you everything you need to dominate your next IPSC event or show the enemy what for in a skirmish!
The FARRAR Precision Hi-Capa is the latest Bolster Armouries CAPA build, based around the Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa Gold Match and equipped with the impeccable Airsoft Masterpiece "Smoking Holes" Open Slide and Frame Kit. As with the QUARTZ 3.0, the FARRAR is rocking the absolute best internal upgrade parts in the business and is equipped with the superb Vector Optics Frenzy-X Red Dot Sight mounted via the JLP Amphibious mount, ensuring your target-to-target transitions are as brisk as an Open Division pistol requires.
The FARRAR is based on the real steel "Smoking Hole", a custom-built IPSC 2011 platform made by Aaron Harris of Smoking Hole Pistol Design in the late 1990s through the early 2000s. This is the Sand Viper's grandaddy, rocking a similar swept-back compensator up front but with a style all of its own, unlike any mass-produced GBB pistol you'll encounter on game day. Named for its creator, the one and only Mark Farrar, a legend in AIPSC and a massive influence on the sport as a whole; the sense of speed and power this Precision Hi-Capa provides is without equal.
Inside, you will find upgraded internals from many of the biggest names in Airsoft, including Laylax/Prometheus, Maple Leaf, EDGE Custom, and AIP with CNC steel trigger group parts from Airsoft Masterpiece. All parts have been professionally fitted and fine-tuned to perfection, resulting in incredible slide speed, outstanding efficiency and pinpoint accuracy, whether you're shooting against the clock or the opposing force.
The new Bolster Armouries CAPA pistols are set up to run standard Airsoft gas using the included pair of Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa magazines and supplied in a PARRA Quokka Hard Case with pre-picked pick 'n' pluck foam, giving you a professional storage and carry solution and giving your gorgeous high-end custom Hi-Capa somewhere nice to live.
These super-sexy new Bolster Armouries pistols also present some options for customisation when it comes to their power source and optimal BB weight.
The HOP-up components in both the QUARTZ 3.0 and the FARRAR are set up for a minimum BB weight of 0.28g and optimal performance with 0.36g BBs. If you intend to use lighter BBs, contact the Bolster Armouries tech team via bolsterarmouries@patrolbase.co.uk before ordering and they'll tune your platform for your weight of choice!
Both the QUARTZ 3.0 and FARRAR should be equally capable of running both Green Gas and HPA, though the team will need to test functionality on HPA before dispatch if you intend to use it this way.
