This AEG is based on the real steel MC51, a G3 based rifle designed by FR Ordanance in the UK and intended to replace the MP5 in service with the SAS. The rifle served with the SAS for a brief period before it was replaced with the much more sane HK53, a 5.56mm derivative of the G3. This was due to the uncontrollable recoil of the MC51, and though its mighty 7.62x51mm cartridge provided the power the SAS were seeking, it proved too much to make a practical close-quarters rifle.
The MC51 may have left service in a hurry, but it still lives on in the form of customised G3 and HK91 rifles in the US, the land of the free and home of those who absolutely love hard recoiling rifles with blinding muzzle flash!
