Action Army AAP-01 Assassin GBB Pistol; Pre-Two Tone Blue

This is the Pre Two-Tone version, pre-painted by our two-tone team so you don't need UKARA or to wait for the usual two-tone service and can get this baby dispatched the very next day! The blue paint finish covers the slide and barrel but all parts are removed before paint is applied, taking care not to allow paint to touch the sights or internals. A lacquer finish is then applied over the top to keep the finish intact in the long term. Starting at the front end we can find a knurled thread protector concealing 14mm CCW male barrel threads beneath. This is a fantastic feature for an out-of-the-box pistol, especially at this price; allowing you to install the most common tracer units and suppressors easily with no need for additional adapters. An AAP with a tracer is a match made in heaven, we recommend the EShooter Flare M if you're taking your AAP into CQB!

The outer barrel itself is a fluted design, intended to mimic real steel target shooting pistols which use fluting to save weight and encourage the dissipation of heat built up in the barrel. The fluting is a big contributor to the AAP's unique looks, giving it a sleek style with hints of the Ruger Mark IV, one of the most well-respected target shooting pistols in the real steel world. 

On top, we can find the iron sights which are a fantastic set of high-vis light enhancing sights with an orange insert in the front sight and green inserts in the rear. This ensures you don't mix up the sight dots and pull shots off when shooting under pressure and also enhances target acquisition speed and low-light visibility. 

Following the outer barrel, we reach the receiver which is styled similarly to the Ruger Mark IV; with the charging handle at the rear and the chamber/mock ejection port on the right side. The ambidextrous charging handle is located at the rear of the receiver and can be racked from either side with a single finger or by grabbing both sides for extra purchase and grip. Each of the charging handle extensions also has chevron texture on its surface to improve traction and prevent any wet weather mishaps. 

To select your fire mode, simply pull the charging handle all the way back and push the slide lock/release catch up to lock the bolt back. With this done, you'll find the fire selector lever on the underside of the bolt carrier. Each mode is denoted with raised symbols, with an A denoting automatic fire and a 1 denoting semi-automatic. The selector switch is quite firm but this has the benefit that you'll never accidentally bump the AAP into the wrong mode and get a chewing out by the marshalls!

The slide lock/release catch is constructed from steel to keep this high-wear part healthy for years to come, and is also ambidextrous, offering a slightly extended catch on each side of the frame, similar to a Gen.5 Glock pistol.  On the left side, below the slide lock/release we can find the magazine release, a textured design with an extended surface for easy and fast reloads under pressure. The curved trigger guard features texture on the front face for an additional point of traction and an ambidextrous push-through trigger lock safety is present at the front of the frame, just above the trigger itself.

Within the trigger guard, we are treated to an EU series style two-stage safety trigger which has a remarkably nice feel, with some take-up but a clean and crisp break and an audible and tactile reset. The two-stage trigger design ensures the pistol cannot be fired without the central "blade" of the trigger being pressed first which prevents snags from causing accidental discharges while avoiding hindering the feel of the trigger and the potential for rapid follow-up shots.

The grip of the AAP-01 is a comfortable angle, equipped with linear texture on the front and pyramidal checkering on the rear, with textured panels on either side with a mix of hexagonal and crackle textures. At the bottom, we also have a stylish triangular weight reduction port to add a touch of visual interest along with a lanyard mount point at the rear; allowing you to keep the AAP tethered to your belt using a retention lanyard to avoid it going missing mid-skirmish. 

Just below the charging handle is where you will find the disassembly button. This allows you to separate the upper receiver and frame of the AAP-01, either for maintenance or HOP-up adjustment. To do this you will need to remove the magazine and cock the pistol, after which you can press the button to hinge the pistol open. With the pistol open you can pull the upper away from the lower to separate the two for maintenance; it really is that easy!

The AAP-01 offers two ways to access the HOP-up adjuster and which way you choose is entirely dependent on how THIC your digits are. If you have relatively slim fingers you can simply lock the bolt back and access the gear-style HOP-up adjuster through the ejection port. If you have bigger fingers or wear gloves in game the best way to access the adjuster will be to field strip the pistol via the disassembly button, as explained in the previous paragraph. With the pistol in two halves, you will see the gear adjuster inside the left side of the receiver, attached to the outer barrel. The HOP-up allows you to tune the AAP-01 for different ammo weights and extend your range by adjusting until the trajectory of your BBs is as flat as possible.

To give the AAP-01 the accuracy to match its gas efficiency and speed, Action Army saw fit to install a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel which should provide impressive accuracy potential for such a compact platform, as well as a slight improvement in FPS compared to a standard 6.08mm bore.

One of the best things about the AAP-01 is its massive range of aftermarket parts; from custom uppers to short stroke kits and stylish ergonomic frames. Carbine kits are also available for those who want to use the AAP as a primary, as are several conversion kits to mimic the looks of ultra-rare real steel platforms. The sky is the limit when it comes to customising your AAP but this beast does the job perfectly as it comes!

Special Instructions

Please ensure you have at least some HOP-up applied when using the Pistol, otherwise the BB will fall out the barrel when you cycle it.

Our latest batch of AAP-01 pistols appears to have the HOP-up set to maximum from the factory. If you encounter feeding issues, try adjusting the HOP-up and this may cure it.
