  • Full metal construction
  • Unique WW2 sidearm
  • Gas blowback recoil

If you're interested in the WW2 style but you want something a bit more unique, you can't go wrong with a P38 pistol! This iconic German sidearm looks like a PO8 dressing up as a 1911, and we love it. This pistol first went into production during WW2, intending to replace the P08 due to its increasing cost to produce.

The WE P38 GBB Pistol boasts a full metal construction, featuring an alloy outer barrel, frame and slide with a polymer pistol grip, matching the real steel proportions perfectly. If you're looking for the finishing touch for your WW2 loadout, the WE P38 GBB Pistol matches the era but is sure to stand out from the rest!

Description

This Airsoft sidearm is perfect for anyone with an interest in WW2 and historical replicas. The P38 is a typically forgotten sidearm from the wartime era, with more focus being on its predecessor, the classic P08 Luger. Whilst that pistol may arguably be more iconic, the P38 still deserves its time in the spotlight for revolutionising German sidearms and inspiring future pistol designs.

It was not just exclusive to the German wartime soldiers, the P38 sidearm has been seen all over the world since then in places such as Afghanistan, Portugal and South Africa. Many police forces adopted the pistol as it was a cheaper and just as reliable alternative to other sidearms available.

Starting at the tip of the exposed outer barrel we can find the front sight post which is a "barleycorn" style front sight with anti-glare checkering on its surface. This sight offers superb accuracy potential in combination with the notched rear sight and is also surprisingly fast and easy to align. It's easy to expect terrible things from an old-era pistol design such as this, but we are pleasantly surprised with the sight arrangement and find it more intuitive and accurate than many modern pistols!

The front sight is moulded as part of the outer barrel and cannot be adjusted, but it does include a mock dovetail for realistic details. Following the front sight we come to the outer barrel, which protrudes ahead of the slide for a truly unique look that you don't see on modern pistols anymore. The outer barrel protrudes 2.5 inches out of the pistol's frame and features the standard WE 11mm CW threading on the tip, use this thread adapter for 14mm CCW.

Moving rearwards we reach the slide. This is where the P38 resembles a 1911 more than the Luger, changing teams! A slide on a German wartime pistol seems absurd, but stick with us. The alloy slide features forward slide serrations for improved grip when readying your pistol. There is also a safety feature on the slide, once the pistol is cocked, it can then be decocked and put into safe, indicated by the lever being pointed downwards and the indented "S" being visible.

The slide lock sits just above the large curved trigger. This trigger was popular with German pistols around this time as the design allowed users to comfortably pull the trigger repeatedly without any rough edges or serrations for discomfort. The trigger guard is enlarged to allow gloved users to easily access the trigger, even when the adrenaline is pumping.

Unlike on most pistols, the slide lock doesn't also function as the disassembly pin. To remove the slide and have your P38 in its "field stripped" condition, you must rack the slide and lock it back. Then pull the lever downwards at the front of the frame. This defeats the locking mechanism and upon releasing the slide you can remove it from the frame. Unfortunately, within the slide, there is no HOP-up adjuster to be found.

Moving on to the pistol grip, which is constructed from high-density polymer, cutting down on the weight but not reducing the durability of the P38. It features horizontal lines, designed for improved wet weather handling and a stronger grip when dealing with the recoil. This texture design works especially well with gloved users but is still effective with non-gloved users.

At the bottom of the pistol grip we find a lanyard loop. This loop is on the left side of the grip and is constructed from polymer. It allows you to use a single-point sling to carry your P38 with you on the battlefield securely. The ambidextrous magazine release is found at the bottom of the pistol grip, pulling the tab backwards defeats the locking mechanism and allows you to release your magazine.

If you want a reliable, gas-efficient pistol with a super unique styling, look no further than the WE P38 GBB Pistol. This WW2-era sidearm is comparable to nothing, a long barrel like a luger, but with a much more modern slide and frame design. Any WW2 enthusiast or historical replica fan needs one of these in their arsenal, the style is truly one of a kind!
