  • Replica of the iconic KAR98K
  • Quality finish on metal parts
  • Realistic looking Faux Wood

If you're looking for a spring-powered wartime sniper rifle replica with a powerful kick, you have found it in the S&T Kar98K. The authentic looking finish on this is KAR98K superb for the affordable price! It features a sturdy polymer faux wood stock and upper handguard which pairs perfectly with the well-finished metal components, a beautiful replica of an iconic rifle. The metal finish is particularly noteworthy, as it doesn't suggest that this is a replica rifle manufactured in the last few months, it looks authentic and realistic, unlike some other historical Airsoft rifle replicas available on the market.

This impressive replica isn't all looks though, with an average of 377FPS when testing it definitely packs a punch too. A replica World War 2 sniper rifle that is also skirmishable, now isn't that sweet! An affordable price, a powerful shot and an authentic look, this replica is definitely one for you to consider if you have a classical taste.

Description

The Karabiner 98k (also known as the Kar98k) was a German military bolt-action rifle originally manufactured by Mauser. It is most recognised as being the standard issue rifle of Germany's armed forces throughout World War II. One of the final evolutions of the prolific Mauser Rifle Series, the Kar98k is based on the earlier Kar98b platform and the Mauser Standard Modell, both of which were based on the original Gewehr 98. Like other German Mauser rifles, the Kar98k quickly earned a reputation for being reliable and accurate. Between 1935 and 1945, over 14 million Kar98ks were manufactured in Germany.

Although it was later supplemented by semi-automatic and fully automatic rifles during the course of World War II, the Kar98k remained the primary German service rifle until the end of the war in 1945. Millions were captured by the Soviets after World War II and were then widely redistributed as military aid. The Kar98k, therefore, continues to appear in conflicts across the world as they are taken out of storage during times of strife, thus keeping it iconic and recognisable throughout the ages. The Kar98k has also been seen in popular media such as ''Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'' and the video game ''Call of Duty World War 2''.

Starting at the front of the rifle we find the front sight block, which is secured to the barrel using steel pins. The front sight itself consists of a barley-corn style front blade and a folded steel sight protector, giving the rifle the authentic Kar98k silhouette. Beneath the front sight, we can find the dummy cleaning rod (for display only) and a sling loop on the left side of the second barrel band. All of these parts are constructed from a robust alloy and finished beautifully. The size of the Kar98k provides plenty of length for a long inner barrel, allowing this rifle to boast excellent accuracy and great range, an attribute the real Kar98k is famous for.

As we move rearward we come to the polymer faux wood stock and upper handguard, which gives a surprisingly authentic look and feel, even if it isn't constructed from wood like the real-life wartime rifle. This does not, however, mean that the stock is of poor quality. The faux wood is sturdy and the finish is exceptional, imitating the shape and style of the real Kar98k stock precisely. The faux wood means that you don't have to worry about potential water damage to your replica, so you can skirmish this iconic sniper rifle in the middle of a storm if you so desire!

On top of the handguard, we can find the adjustable tangent iron sight which can be adjusted for a range of up to 1000m, although we don't think you'll hit anything that far out with a 6mm BB. If you lift it you will find something more useful to the skirmisher, the HOP adjustment grub screw! This is a brilliant design, with it being completely hidden under the rear sight and being a TDC design it will not be affected by the issues which affect slider-style hop-ups found on most bolt action spring rifles.

Behind the iron sight is the barrel trunion, complete with authentic but not offensive engraved trademarks. On the left side of the rifle, you will note the scope mounting apparatus, which is well placed and compatible with the S&T scope, or even a Picatinny rail adaptor should you choose to go the Call of Duty route with this rifle. The bolt is finished in a period-accurate grey-black and cycles smoothly, with the functional and true-to-life Kar-98k safety lever found above the dummy cocked indicator on the rear of the bolt. Under the stock we can find the magazine well (very well disguised, looks like the real Kar98k integrated magazine baseplate!) which can be opened to insert the tiny 25rnd magazine.

The trigger and guard are made of metal and retain the same stunning surface finish as the other metal parts of this rifle. On the buttstock itself, we can see some distinctly German features still present on many H&K rifles to this day. The sling loop goes through the stock itself, just like the real deal. Also present is a metal disc in the centre of the stock, which is used on the real Kar98k to disassemble the bolt and retain the firing pin. Now that's some impressive attention to detail! Rounding it off at the rear we can find the alloy butt plate that is comfortable and sturdy, so you can line up those crucial shots.

When we get to the internals, it is just as impressive. Shooting at a competitive 377fps out of the box, this Kar98k provides the range to match the look whilst being easy to cock for everyone. The spring action bolt is smooth and fast to cycle when compared to other bolt action sniper rifles. With the weight being an extremely light 2.62kg, you don't have to be an Olympic weightlifter to carry this iconic Rifle around for a day!

If you're looking for an affordable replica that shoots as good as it looks, then the S&T KAR98K Bolt-Action Rifle Replica is definitely one for you to consider. With an impressive 377FPS and a low price, this Kar98k is certainly desirable for skirmishing or building a collection on a budget.
