Description

If you're looking for a does-it-all AR platform with absolutely flawless external build quality, the KRYTAC Trident MK3 CRB-M AEG is the one! The latest generation of KRYTAC's ever-impressive Trident CRB, the MK3 is rocking a redesigned handguard and receiver along with a host of small internal improvements which really do add up downrange!

Inside, you’ll find 18:1 CNC steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings driven by a 30K RPM high torque Neodymium magnet motor, resulting in a stunning rate of fire and a smooth, unlaboured gearbox sound. Also inside is KRYTAC’s updated ETU and MOSFET system which offers active braking, battery protection, and gear strip protection. The legendary KRYTAC Rotary HOP-up unit is also present, paired with a 6.05mm tightbore inner barrel offering improved accuracy and long-range effect on target.

Starting at the front, we can find the KRYTAC Trident flash hider with its uniquely menacing design, mounted to 14mm CCW male threads at the tip of the 10.5-inch outer barrel. The Trident flash hider looks great as it is, matching the style of the handguard perfectly, though it can be switched out easily for a tracer unit or suppressor should the mission require it.

Moving rearwards, we come to the handguard which is aggressively styled with a swept-back front end, boasting M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, with additional slots at the offset angles. M-LOK slots allow M-LOK accessories to be directly mounted, though if you prefer 20mm Picatinny bits you can mount them using M-LOK to 20mm Picatinny rail adapters. Speaking of Pic rails, the handguard's 12 o'clock position is rocking a lengthy 20mm rail running along the top, meeting the receiver rail seamlessly to allow longer optical sights to be mounted, with plenty of space to spare.

The fire selector is ambidextrous, present on either side of the AEG directly above the pistol grip to provide fast and easy access for left or right-handed shooters. The fire selector has a 90-degree throw between modes, making it quick to operate but not too easy to accidentally knock it and end up in the wrong fire mode. Each fire mode is indicated with recessed bullet pictograms, with a crossed-out projectile denoting the safe mode, a single projectile for semi-auto and multiple projectiles for full auto.

At the centre of the left side of the receiver, we can find a bolt release catch which serves to release the mock bolt carrier following HOP-up adjustment. Over on the right side of the receiver, we can see what is known as the forward assist button, located on the upper receiver behind the mock shell deflector. This button also has no function but serves to force the real M4/AR-15 bolt carrier into battery if it fails to close due to dirt ingress. The button can be pressed and is a separate part, showing that KRYTAC wants us to have the realistic looks we deserve!

The magazine release is also ambidextrous, present on either side of the magazine well and ideally positioned to be pressed with the trigger finger from a firing grip. The surface of each mag release is textured to provide the necessary gripping qualities, and is protected from accidental presses by the "magwell fence", a raised protrusion in the receiver which stops the mag release from catching on your gear as you move.

KRYTAC's new ergonomic pistol grip is present on the MK3 CRB-M, rocking a reduced grip angle compared to previous designs, resulting in improved ergonomics and less chance of wrist strain when shooting in modern stances with the stock collapsed. The backstrap is also filled out to take pressure off the web of the hand and reduce “hot spots” which can cause fatigue over long durations of use. On each side of the grip, we have a comfortable and grippy crackle texture with linear grooves on the front and rear, ensuring the CRB-M MK3 stays firmly in your hands in any weather conditions.

At the rear of the receiver, we have an ambidextrous sling point constructed from steel, guaranteeing ample strength to support the weight of the CRB-M MK3, even with a single-point sling. Following the sling point, we have the good old AR buffer tube, offering 6 positions of adjustment for the latest KRYTAC battery stock.

The new stock is a low-profile design which doesn’t compromise when it comes to battery space, offering a large compartment accessible through the butt plate. To get inside, simply press the two tabs at the top rear of the stock and the butt plate will lift free, revealing a Deans battery connector. RECOMMENDED BATTERY HERE

On either side of the stock, we are treated to QD sling sockets, outfitting the LMG-M with the most modern sling mounting apparatus out there, suited to left or right-handed shooters. If you’re running a QD sling setup we recommend using the PTS EP M-LOK QD Sling Mount on the M-LOK handguard up front with a two-point sling.

Inside the Nautilus Gearbox, you’ll find KRYTAC’s legendarily strong 18:1 CNC steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings, a match made in heaven for techs looking to get the most performance. The piston boasts a full steel tooth rack, ensuring the REC7 MK3 keeps the superb performance and robust nature which originally put KRYTAC on the map.

The inner barrel is a 6.05mm tightbore example which is flawlessly polished and of fantastic quality, paired with a well designed rotary HOP-up unit which clicks into each position, holding its setting more effectively than other units and offering a wide range of adjustment. The newly refined KRYTAC ETU/MOSFET system is also present, offering battery protection, active braking and gear strip protection. All of this internal goodness is driven by a 30K RPM high torque Neodymium magnet motor, offering a stunning rate of fire and superb trigger response.

If you love the KRYTAC aesthetic and high-performance parameters, the Trident MK3 CRB-M AEG will be an asset to your arsenal. Built to last with a Cerakote finish and proven internals which will last in the long term, this is the CRB-M in its ultimate form!
