If you are looking for a compact M4/AR-15 but you have seen them all, the G&G Armament Cobalt Kinetics BAMF Stealth will give you something to get excited about! This M4 platform is a complete redesign of the original M4 on the outside, boasting a unique receiver with 45-degree ambidextrous fire selectors, a flared magazine well and extended controls for fast access.

BAMF stands for "Billet Aluminium Modern Firearm", named for the manufacturing method of the real thing, being machined from billet aluminium instead of the usual M4/AR-15 receiver forgings. While the outside is unique, the internals are the same rock solid stuff G&G is well known for, including the G2 Gearbox with the latest G&G ETU/MOSFET, a rotary adjustable HOP-up unit and a 25K RPM high speed motor providing an astonishing rate of fire and ultra snappy trigger response. If you like the way the ARP-9 and SSG-1 shoot but you don't like their looks, the BAMF Stealth is the same on the inside but with an awesome external style!

Description

The real Cobalt Kinetics BAMF was originally designed for competition shooting, but the Stealth variant has a distinct combat leaning with its compact M-LOK/20mm Picatinny hybrid handguard and G&G GOS V9 PDW stock. The BAMF Stealth keeps all the speedy features which made the original such a match dominator, including its extended ambidextrous controls, super light front end and auto ejecting magazines and packages them in an intimidating combat optimised form to compete with SCARs, HK416s and all manner of modern combat rifles. If you want something CQB oriented with an up-to-date modern aesthetic with the tremendous performance of the G&G G2 gearbox and ETU, you're gonna love this!

Starting at the tip of the 9-inch aluminium outer barrel we can see a muzzle sound amplifier with an intimidating spiked front end. This muzzle device is based on real steel breaching compensators, designed to allow the rifle to be braced against a hinge or lock and used as a master key of sorts. G&G's device is constructed from high density polymer to keep the front end light and easy to point, and produces a booming muzzle report with an intimidating "snap" that will have the enemy on the run!

The muzzle device mounts to the 14mm CCW male threading at the tip of the outer barrel, giving you the option to switch it out for a suppressor or tracer unit if you prefer a sneaky look and playstyle. There is no grub screw in this muzzle device, meaning it is easy to remove without potentially damaging the threads or rummaging in the toolbox for a tiny Allen key!

The sound amplifier is slightly inset to the angled handguard front of the BAMF Stealth, giving it an integral and completed look. The handguard itself is constructed from high density polymer and offers both 20mm Picatinny and M-LOK attachment surfaces. The 12 o'clock position boasts a full length 20mm Picatinny rail which mates seamlessly with the receiver rail to allow for optical sights of practically any length to be mounted without issues. Up top, you will find a set of G&G's aperture iron sights pre-installed which can be flipped up easily by hand, and feature full adjustment for both windage and elevation.

The handguard also features a short length of 20mm rail at the 6 o'clock position to allow for a bipod or tactical flashlight to be mounted, and M-LOK negative space attachment slots are present at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions allowing M-LOK accessories to be directly mounted or 20mm Picatinny accessories to be used with M-LOK to 20mm Picatinny rail adapters. On either side of the handguard, we are also equipped with a pair of steel QD sling socket inserts which can be used with QD sling swivels (available separately) to allow for a highly flexible sling setup which is easy to remove and reconfigure on the fly.

The receiver is based on the M4/AR-15 design, but other than its basic layout is a radical departure from most other M4 platforms you have handled. The receiver is constructed from high density polymer to keep the weight low and provide scratch resistance and has a plethora of enhancements built in. The front of the magazine well has a pair of grooves to allow it to be held as a makeshift vertical grip when shooting in close quarters, and the base of the magwell is equipped with an aluminium flare, allowing for easier reloads without looking down at the weapon by guiding your magazine in via this funnel-like extension. This is one of the many features that make the BAMF Stealth such a speedy platform, and if you like having every advantage you will really enjoy the flared magwell!

The enhancements don't stop here, far from it! The entire receiver design is built to mimic a "billet" receiver, which is a term for a modern receiver design which is machined from billet aluminium rather than aluminium forgings. This gives the upper and lower receiver a uniquely modern look and allows for ambidextrous controls for intuitive use for both left and right-handed shooters. The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip and is a modern enlarged design with a super short and fast 45-degree throw between modes, making the BAMF twice as fast as a regular M4 when going from SAFE to SEMI, and allowing the full auto mode to be far easier to select quickly to boot.

The magazine release is also ambidextrous, with an enlarged catch on the right side, well within reach of the trigger finger for a right-handed user, and a low profile catch on the left which is easily reached by lefties while remaining protected from accidental drops with a protective "fence" built into the lower receiver. The bolt release catch is a modernised design and is positioned above the left side mag release. The bolt catch allows you to lock the bolt of the BAMF Stealth open for HOP-up adjustment and release it when the adjustment is complete with a satisfying "clank".

The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver and is an ambidextrous design with extended textured contact surfaces to provide the gripping qualities necessary for easy manipulation. Pulling the charging handle back will open the dust cover on the left side and retract the mock bolt, providing access to the rotary adjuster of the HOP-up. Adjustable HOP-up allows you to tune the amount of backspin applied to your BBs to extend your range and set the BAMF Stealth up for ammo of different weights, looking for the flattest trajectory possible. With your HOP-up adjustment complete you can hit the bolt catch on the left side to send the bolt home.

The trigger guard of the BAMF Stealth is an enlarged design to provide extra room for gloved skirmishers, and is also considerably wider than a standard M4/AR-15 trigger guard to more effectively protect the trigger from inadvertent snags. The trigger itself is a curved MilSpec style trigger, encouraging an effective trigger position and blending well with the combat optimised styling of the BAMF Stealth.

The pistol grip is the same design found on the competition style BAMF and is of a reduced grip angle to allow for more comfortable shooting with modern stances and allow for reduced wrist fatigue when shooting with the stock fully collapsed. The grip has raised sections to allow you to keep the BAMF Stealth under control when sprinting but is devoid of texture or checkering for more comfortable use without gloves. The grip and trigger guard are integrated in a seamless manner, providing comfort thanks to the elimination of "hot spots" which can cause irritation over long periods of use.

At the rear of the receiver, we are treated to a steel ambidextrous sling plate which is ideal for single-point slings but can be paired with the front QD sling sockets on the handguard if you prefer a two-point sling. The sling plate is affixed between the receiver and G&G GOS V9 PDW stock similar to a standard sling plate, offering a sling slot on either side allowing for either a left or right-handed sling setup.

The GOS V9 PDW stock is G&G's latest iteration of compact stock, offering several features which simply aren't present in other stock systems. The GOS V9 is a multi-position stock but requires that you set your preferred stock length by removing the butt plate and stock bars, and moving the screws on either side of the stock bars to your position of choice. To remove the butt plate you will need to press the button at the toe of the stock to unlock it, then rotate the rotary dial in the "open" direction indicated on the dial itself, after which you can lift the stock locking mech surrounding the adjustment button. With the locking mech clear of the stock bars you can then slide the butt plate off to the rear.

With the butt plate and stock bars removed you will see 5 threaded holes in each of the stock bars, with a screw set into the middle position of each. Removing these screws and reinserting them in any of the holes adjusts the pre-set of the stock to that particular length, and when reinstalled allows you to quickly deploy the stock by simply pressing the button at the toe of the stock and pulling it out where it will lock into your pre-set position. This means if you need to deploy your stock quickly it can easily be set to your preferred length with no messing around, just a simple press of a button and the stock can only lock into the length you set it. To collapse the stock again you will need to press the button on the bottom of the stock tube, near where it meets the receiver.

The stock also contains the battery compartment of the BAMF Stealth, and this can be accessed by removing the butt plate and stock bars as described above. With your butt plate and stock bars removed you can remove the end of the buffer tube by pressing the button on the underside of the cylindrical section and removing it from the tube. Inside you will find a mini-Tamiya battery connector to which you mount your battery of choice. Being a G&G G2 gearbox and ETU system, the BAMF Stealth requires an 11.1V battery to function, and we recommend an 11.1V 1450mAh LiPo Stick battery for the best combination of an easy fit and incredible 11.1V performance.

Inside the G&G BAMF Stealth, we are treated to one of the best mass-produced, out-of-the-box internal setups in the entire industry, the G&G G2 Gearbox with the G&G ETU/MOSFET. This system is behind the incredible CQB dominating G&G ARP-9 and ARP-556 and is what gives the marmite in looks but butter in performance SSG-1 its scary rate of fire and trigger response. The ETU/MOSFET allows you to program the fire controls for burst mode using a simple combination of trigger presses and fire selector movements, offering you a bit more 'smart' functionality than the average AEG and also protects your battery from damage its low voltage cutoff function.

The G2 system features 8mm ball bearing bushings to provide a smooth, unlaboured gearbox sound with reduced friction internally to prolong the life of the gears, together with G&G's other high quality gearbox internals which have given them their superb reputation amongst performance-oriented Airsofters. To provide the stunning speed that G&G G2 equipped AEGs are known for, the G&G 25,000 RPM high speed motor makes an appearance, to the dismay of those who have to face down with the BAMF Stealth on the field!

So, if you like the unique style of the original BAMF but you fear the grey and metallic blue colour scheme will give you away on the field, or that it is far too long for clearing corners at kissing distance, the BAMF Stealth should suit you perfectly! Building on the incredible real steel Cobalt Kinetics BAMF design, complete with realistic markings licenced by Cobalt Kinetics themselves, the BAMF Stealth brings this ultra modern AR platform into the combat world in a CQB optimised compact carbine format, complete with the same game-changing internals that put the legendary ARP-9 on the map!
