Double Bell AM.45 "Chisato" Detonics .45 GBB Pistol

If you appreciate a unique collectable sidearm and missed out on the Tokyo Marui version, the Double Bell AM.45 "Chisato" Detonics .45 GBB Pistol should appeal! This Detonics .45 style platform replicates the sidearm of Chisato Nishikigi in the Anime TV series Lycoris Recoil, complete with a rather sharp compensator for the iconic screen-accurate look. 

With the exception of the compensator, the AM.45 Chisato boasts full metal construction, resulting in a realistically weighty feel few sidearms in this size class have. Its compact Detonics style magazine and small gas reservoir mean this is unlikely to be a game-winner without exceptional skirmish skills but if you like its styling, nothing else can stand in for the AM.45 Chisato!

Starting at the front, we cannot help but notice the super menacing compensator, boasting a spiked strike face, 3 ports on the top and a port on each side. The compensator is constructed from high-density polymer to keep the AM.45 Chisato non-lethal, as is the requirement of our sport!

The compensator mounts to the frame via a pair of Allen bolts and does need to be removed to access the adjustable HOP-up. To do so, simply unscrew the Allen bolts and the compensator should come off, though we recommend taking care not to lose the silicone spacer which sits around the front screw, between the underside of the comp and the frame. 

With the compensator removed, you can then field strip the AM.45 Chisato by removing the magazine, racking the slide then pulling it back to align the slide lock with the semi-circular cutout just behind the slide locking notch on the left side. With this done, push the slide lock through from the right side, after which the slide can be pushed forward and off the frame. The HOP-up adjustment dial is on the left side of the outer barrel, allowing you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your BBs and set the AM.45 up for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. 

Following the comp, we come to the slide itself, constructed from alloy with significant heft. On top, we have Detonics .45 style iron sights with an anti-glare front sight, ensuring you get a clear view of the front sight even in bright ambient light. Serrations are present on each side of the slide, allowing you to get good purchase on the slide when loading the first round. 

At the rear of the slide, we can find the flat "spur" type hammer, the classic hammer used on the earliest 1911 pistols and the original Detonics .45. The spur hammer is designed to be easily cocked manually for those classic movie stand-off moments or to restrike dud rounds in the real steel pistol. Being an Airsoft replica, this won't really make a huge difference to your shooting experience but is essential to complete the screen-accurate Chisato Nishikigi sidearm build. 

Moving down to the frame, we can find familiar 1911/Hi-Capa style controls, meaning an easy transition from popular starter sidearms to this more unique collectable. The safety catch and slide release catch are on the left side, both extended designs with texture on the upper surface for improved wet weather handling. The safety is right at the back, positioned for easy actuation but also makes a fantastic thumb rest when shooting, encouraging a consistent hold and thus, improved accuracy. 

The grip panels are constructed from high-density polymer and boast classic diamond checkering on each side, with a small finger ledge in the centre. The mag release sits between the trigger guard and grip on the left side, a push button release which works exactly like 90% of semi-auto pistols on the market. The magazine itself also boasts an extended baseplate which allows you to get a proper grip on this compact pistol, avoiding the usual Detonics ergonomic awkwardness of your pinky finger hanging off!

Inside, the AM.45 Chisato is based on the Tokyo Marui version, meaning TM-compatible internals for the upgrade fiends. As it comes, the Chisato is sidearm simple and functional but doesn't boast any pre-upgraded parts as such. Due to the very small gas reservoir inside the magazine, we recommend only loading 10 rounds in to ensure you get decent rapid-fire performance and positive slide locking at the end of the magazine. If you want a pistol for performance, get a Hi-Capa, the Double Bell AM.45 "Chisato" Detonics .45 GBB Pistol is all about the authentic look and fulfils its role perfectly!
