- Full metal construction
- Licenced by Agency Arms via Red Wolf Airsoft
- Reversible magazine release & adjustable trigger
The RWA Agency Arms EXA Pistol is the first GBB Pistol that RWA has released under the Agency Arms license. Based on the EU-series design but bristling with enhancements, the EXA boasts Agency Arms' EXA hybrid slide cut with aggressive and eye-catching serrations and a mid-line fluted outer barrel for a real looker of a pistol. Not only that, the EXA comes equipped with Lone Wolf's signature Timberwolf frame custom modified to Agency Arms specifications, including thumb and forefinger indentations, "Shark Skin" faux stippling and a 20mm pistol rail.
Out of the box, the pistol comes pre-installed with a fibre optic front sight and "blackout" anti-glare rear sight, allowing for a cleaner sight picture and preventing the potential to mix up conventional sight dots when operating under pressure. The 23rnd magazine comes with an extended +2 style base plate to make the magazine easier to handle during reloads and provide the custom Agency Arms look. With all these features and a sweet aesthetic, the RWA Agency Arms EXA Pistol should easily make it on your list if you are looking for a modern double-stack pistol.

Description
If you have been keeping your eye out for an enhanced EU-series pistol but you want something other than a Salient Arms the EXA should have your attention! This full metal GBB pistol is based on the EU-series design but like the Salient Arms BLU, it has been significantly enhanced, boasting practically every feature you could ever want in a pistol. The Agency Arms look is guaranteed to get this pistol noticed in the safe zone, but its more subtle and classy aesthetic choices make it the perfect alternative to the more garish and in-your-face Salient Arms pistols; ideal for the more discrete skirmisher.
Starting at the front of the EXA the first thing we notice is the brightly illuminated light-enhancing insert of the front sight, allowing for easy sight acquisition in low-light CQB scenarios and pairing well with the serrated anti-glare rear sight, known as the "Blackout" sight by Agency Arms. The front sight insert is bright red, giving plenty of visual consistency with red dot optics and is a considerable improvement over the usual white dot and U iron sights on standard EU-series pistols.
Visible through the weight-reducing port on the top of the EXA slide is the alloy fluted barrel which sports a metallic silver finish contrasting well with the refined look of this Agency Arms build. Every time you rack the pistol or pop off some shots, the fluted barrel presents itself, reminding onlookers that this isn't any old EU series as well as reducing weight and giving the pistol a suave and professional look that's sure to turn heads!
The shape of the EXA slide is bevelled at the front to promote easier reholstering under pressure, and the top, front and sides of the slide are adorned with gripping serrations to allow the slide to be easily manipulated in any weather condition, with or without gloves. The front serrations are set at a swept-back angle, giving the pistol a dynamic look and matching perfectly with the angle of the agency arms logo which is milled into the slide shape itself, on each side, just behind the front serrations.
Running between the front and rear serrations is a weight-reducing relief cut, keeping the slide light while avoiding milling ports on each side which can be a source of dirt and debris ingress, improving reliability and avoiding unneeded maintenance. The rear slide serrations are vertical but are considerably deeper than those on a standard EU series and are bevelled on the rear edge, presenting an abrasive index point for reliable racking of the slide, even when pumped with adrenaline when fine motor skills become more challenging!
The top of the slide also features a precisely engraved stylised American flag, adding a touch of visual interest to the slide and showing off Agency Arms' patriotism. As previously mentioned, the rear iron sight is an anti-glare design, complete with surface serrations to minimise light reflected back to the shooter. This modern sight design is a great choice for rapid target acquisition under pressure and has the added benefit that you can use the raised rear sight to rack your pistol from your belt or rig if your support hand is otherwise occupied.
As with any good modern pistol, the EXA features a 20mm rail, which can be used to attach the tactical equipment of your choosing, be it a tactical flashlight or laser aiming module, depending on your playstyle or the mission at hand. The rail is positioned at the front of the frame and bedded into the rail design you will find the serial number plate, mimicking the real Timberwolf frame flawlessly. The details present on this pistol come as no surprise since RWA reportedly had access to both the blueprint of the real Agency Arms slide and Timberwolf frame when designing the EXA!
The frame of the EXA is a near one-to-one match with the real Timberwolf frame which has been a popular choice amongst civilian tactical shooters in the US seeking a more ergonomic alternative to the original EU frame. On either side, we have a thumb indentation matching a standard EU series pistol, improving ergonomics and giving EU series users a familiar but enhanced feel. Surrounding the entire grip and also present in several choice spots on the frame is the Timberwolf "Shark Skin" faux stippling which provides plenty of traction to keep the EXA firmly in your grasp and provides a safe index point for your finger to rest clear of the trigger between shots.
The trigger guard boasts deep undercuts to allow for as high of a hold as possible, promoting easier recoil control and keeping things in line with the most modern handgun shooting techniques. At the bottom of the trigger guard, we also have two additional stipple textured panels which provide extra grip for your support hand.
The trigger itself is a partially flat design for extra speed and also has a finger ledge at the bottom to keep your finger where it needs to be during rapid strings of fire. This trigger is known as the Agency Arms Syndicate trigger, and has the appropriate markings displayed proudly on each side; a perfect match for the real Agency Arms EXA.
Like the EU series it is based on, the EXA trigger is a "two-stage" safety trigger with a central blade which needs to be pressed to fire the pistol. This style of trigger safety is often credited with being the best option currently out there, giving the shooter far less to worry about when working under pressure by eliminating the need for a manual safety catch. This style of safety prevents accidental discharges by ensuring each trigger press is intentional and also stops the trigger from being pressed if it snags on kit or other protrusions, making for a great combination of safety and speed.
The trigger is also designed with adjustment built in via a grub screw set into the face of the trigger. Adjusting this grub screw will adjust the trigger pre-travel, allowing you to tune the trigger to exactly what you need to get the job done. This is a neat feature to find in a mid-priced pistol, usually reserved for the really high-end custom jobs designed for competition shooting. If having an extremely short and fast trigger pull is a priority, the EXA fits the bill.
At the rear of the frame, you will notice a slight difference if you are used to an EU series GBB. The Timberwolf frame has what is known as an extended beavertail which provides more effective support for the web of the hand and prevents a high grip causing "slide-bite" which is a painful affair where the loose skin of the web of the hand gets trapped between the slide and frame. Ouch! Extended beavertails are available for standard EU series pistols as an aftermarket part but its inclusion as part of the Timberwolf frame keeps things more compact and gives off the more professional vibe of a completed custom handgun.
Adding to the enhanced features of the EXA are its interchangeable backstraps, offering both a slimline backstrap which comes pre-installed and is designed to mimic the grip angle and size of a 1911 pistol and the enlarged backstrap which is contoured to match the shape of SIG and XDM pistols. Interchangeable backstraps allow you to fit the pistol perfectly into your hand for maximum comfort, an essential modern feature which really elevates the EXA above other comparable platforms.
By default, the magazine release is located on the left side of the EXA grip but as part of the Agency Arms design, the mag release can be swapped over to the right side to allow for more intuitive left-handed shooting. This is a particularly useful feature for left-handed shooters, allowing for a far easier reload process than otherwise and allowing you to grip the EXA tightly with your left hand without potentially pressing a right-handed magazine release and inadvertently dropping your mag.
At the base of the Timberwolf frame, we can find a magazine well flare which is a lower profile design than most; ideal for a combat-optimised handgun. The magazine well flare helps you reload swiftly in the heat of an intense skirmish by providing a widened channel to guide your magazine into the magwell, reducing the fine motor movements needed for a slick and quick reload. Either side of the magwell flare is cut out to allow you to grab the magazine baseplate and remove a stuck magazine in the unlikely event the magazine becomes fouled and doesn't drop free when needed.
If you are after an enhanced EU series but you want something a bit more rare and bespoke than a Salient Arms, the Agency Arms EXA is the one for the job. With a plethora of enhanced features which translate into an absolutely slick handgun at the peak of ergonomics with the option to customise the trigger pull, grip size and magazine release location, the EXA is a hidden gem amongst the piles of plain jane EU-style pistols with a unique custom Agency Arms aesthetic.
