If you are looking for shiny things to mount to your Airsoft helmet they don't get much shinier than the WADSN HEL-STAR 6! This illumination device is based on the real HEL-STAR 6 which is commonly issued to Western special forces and mounted to helmets to allow for IFF (Identification: Friend or Foe) through night vision devices and from Aircraft.
The HEL-STAR 6 mounts to the rear of any helmet thanks to its velcro backing and the included self-adhesive velcro strip, allowing it to be fitted and removed in seconds as the mission requires. Inside the HEL-STAR 6 is an array of coloured, white and IR LEDs, meaning you can use the device for team identification, distress signalling and even run it in IR mode if you and your team have night vision at your disposal. At around 1/10th of the price of the real one, if you can even get a real one, the WADSN HEL-STAR 6 is the ideal addition to any Airsoft helmet, especially for the Milsim inclined!

Description
If you are building a loadout with an emphasis on realism and you want to add some finishing touches to really make it stand out, the HEL-STAR 6 from WADSN belongs on your helmet! This device offers both visible and IR modes and is available in either Black or Dark Earth and with Red, Green or Blue coloured lighting.
The device requires a single CR123a cell (not included) to function and it is housed in the battery compartment on the rear, requiring a flathead screwdriver to access. The position of the battery compartment keeps it well out of the way of dirt and debris ingress and should also help keep moisture out for long-term reliability in a variety of environments.
There are two mode switches on the HEL-STAR 6 which control its modes of operation. The mode switch on the bottom of the unit marked 0-1-2 provides ON/OFF and flash mode selection, and the mode switch on the top lets you select between the visible and IR spectrum.
When the switch on the bottom is set to "0" the unit is turned off, mode "1" is constant on for visible lighting and flash mode for IR, and mode "2" is constant on with white flash for visible and constant on for IR. With the slider switch on the top/front of the unit in its uppermost position (position A) you are in visible light mode and with it pushed down into position B you are in infrared lighting mode. These switches are designed to be separate to ensure you never accidentally switch the light into visible when you want IR, or vice versa. The switches are also designed to be easy to operate while the HEL-STAR 6 is mounted on the rear of your helmet so it doesn't need to be removed when you change modes.
