VORSK Hi-Capa Vengeance Compact GBB Pistol w/Red Dot Sight

If you like Hi-Capas and need a compact complement to your full-sized one, the VORSK Vengeance Compact w/Red Dot Sight will fill that void. This Hi-Capa variant is a brainchild of VORSK, marrying the 3.8-inch barrel and shortened slide of the most compact 'Capa model out there with the full-sized grip of the 5.1 model, giving you the faster draw from a holster of a compact pistol with the ergonomics of a full-sized, customised race gun. To make the deal even sweeter, this variant even boasts a pre-installed red dot sight with a fixed mounting position, allowing you to acquire your targets faster in CQB environments. 

Just like its bigger brother, the full-sized Vengeance, the Hi-Capa 3.8 Vengeance boasts full metal construction, a pre-installed 14mm CCW male thread adapter, flared magazine well and extended controls, making it a fantastic choice for those who want to jump in with an ergonomically advanced Hi-Capa without incrementally building your own from a more basic platform.

Starting at the front, we can find a straight profile 3.8-inch spiral fluted outer barrel with female 12mm CW threading at the tip, finished in a metallic colour of your choice. The colour options include punchy purple and VORSK's own V-blue, giving you some strikingly unconventional colour schemes to make your loadout stand out.

The spiral fluting slightly reduces overall weight but its main purpose is to add to the customised styling of the Hi-Capa 3.8 Vengeance, pairing perfectly with its other styled-up externals. Mounted to the 12mm CW female threads, we are treated to a 14mm CCW male thread adapter with the VORSK unique thread protector pre-installed. Removing the thread protector allows you to kit the 3.8 Vengeance out with a tracer unit or suppressor for the sneaky look or an instinct-aiming advantage in CQB. The thread adapter can also be removed if you prefer a more "stock" look for your sidearm.

The slide of the Hi-Capa 3.8 Vengeance has a much more dynamic look than your usual Hi-Capa thanks to a combination of front and rear slide serrations, angled weight reduction ports and the swept-back front end. This fits in well with the aesthetic of VORSK platforms and also improves wet weather handling qualities, allowing you to rack the slide from the front or the rear, depending on your preference. The weight reduction ports will speed up the slide cyclic rate slightly and are small enough that dirt and debris ingress should not be a problem. The shorter 3.8 length side also has the edge in slide cyclic rate over the 5.1 thanks to its reduced weight, making this a fantastic platform for those who value speed.

At the top of the slide, we are treated to a very thoughtful and modern iron sight setup. The front sight blade contains a green light-enhancing insert, and the rear sight is an adjustable flat notch type with anti-glare texturing. This combination of sights is easy to acquire and align and eliminates the possibility of mixing up the sight dots, as is possible with a white dot sight setup. The anti-glare texturing on the rear sight notch prevents the sight from being difficult to use in bright sunlight, which works well with the bright green front sight insert. The rear sight can be adjusted for elevation using the adjustment screw on the top and for windage using the screw on the right side of the sight.

Mounted to the frame and positioned at the top of the slide, we can find the pre-installed red dot sight, offering faster target acquisition and an elite, race gun-esque look. Being a fixed mounting position as opposed to a slide-mounted red dot, this dot doesn't move around as the pistol cycles, meaning faster follow-up shots and a more reliable zero. The downside to this is that the mount will prevent this Hi-Capa from being inserted into a standard Hi-Capa retention holster. The mount itself is constructed from alloy and mounts to the frame via a pair of Allen screws on each side. This means if you want to strip the 3.8 Vengeance down to the bare bones to reduce weight or for broader holster compatibility, this is easily done. 

The red dot sight requires a single CR2032 button cell (not included) to power it. To install your battery you will need to remove the red dot sight from the mount via the two Allen screws on the top. With this done, insert your CR2032 cell into the bottom of the sight and reinstall it on the mount. To turn it on, simply press either of the two side brightness adjustment buttons and to turn it off, long press both simultaneously. 

At the rear of the slide, we can find more serrations on either side to provide optimal grip when cocking the pistol. These are especially useful in wet weather, and the depth of these serrations allows a good grip even when operating the Vengeance 3.8 while wearing gloves. These serrations are swept back at an angle which matches that of the front slide serrations and VORSK trademark window, giving the pistol a mean, dynamic look. The pistol's hammer can be found at the rear of the slide, attached to the frame, and is a skeletonised design with a textured section to provide positive control for when the hammer needs to be manually cocked.

On each side of the slide, we are treated to flawlessly engraved VORSK markings, reading "VORSK CUSTOM SHOP" on the left side, and "VENGEANCE" on the right. This really adds to the overall style of the pistol, and though these markings may not be based on a real steel design, you would be forgiven for thinking they were thanks to the tasteful, discrete engravings which mimic those of real steel competition pistols perfectly.

Next up, we reach the frame of the pistol, which is constructed in standard Hi-Capa fashion; with a metal upper frame containing the internal parts and a lower pistol grip/trigger guard module made from polymer. The upper frame of the Hi-capa 3.8 Vengeance includes a 20mm Picatinny rail, with three slots of available attachment space which is absolutely perfect for a tactical flashlight or laser aiming module designed for use on a pistol.

The slide catch/disassembly lever is located on the left side of the pistol and has a slight extension to its upper surface with serrations for extra grip, providing assurance that you can operate this control effectively from a firing grip with no risk of slipping off and slowing down your reload.

The adjustable HOP-up is accessible when the pistol is field-stripped, located on the outer barrel as we would expect for a GBB pistol based on Tokyo Marui's designs. To field strip the Vengeance, first remove the magazine, then rack the slide so the hammer is back. With this done, pull the slide back until the rear of the slide lock/release aligns with the semi-circular cutout on the slide, just to the rear of the slide locking cutout. With the slide held in this position, push the slide lock through from the right side, after which the slide can be removed from the front of the pistol. The gear HOP-up adjuster is on the bottom of the outer barrel, ready to be adjusted for your chosen ammo weight, looking for the flattest possible trajectory.

To the rear of the slide release catch, we can find the manual safety which is ambidextrous and sits comfortably within reach of the shooter's thumb when holding the pistol in a firing grip, whether you are right or left-handed. This safety allows the Hi-capa 3.8 Vengeance to be carried "cocked and locked" safely, with only a very slight movement required to remove the safety before taking the shot. Also included is the hallmark 1911/Hi-capa beavertail grip safety, which protrudes slightly from the rear of the grip. This safety ensures the pistol can only be fired when it is properly gripped, preventing accidental discharges.

The magazine release can be found just below the slide release catch and is an extended design with a prominent textured button so you never miss the release at a critical moment. This is of great benefit for a competition shooting pistol and can be an asset to any skirmisher who values a swift and easy reload with their sidearm.

At the bottom of the grip, we can find the magazine well extension, providing a wide flare to assist in reloading when you are pushing yourself to maximum speed, or you are positively shaking with adrenaline. The mag well extension is constructed from alloy and is the same style as the one used in the JW3 pistol, complete with a cutout on either side to allow you to grab the mag for a retention reload. This characteristic is what separates this mag well extension from those present on competition style Hi-capas, as does the lanyard loop present in the rear of the extension.

The pistol grip/trigger guard module of the Hi-capa 3.8 Vengeance is a one-piece unit, as it is with other Hi-Capa pistols. The grip itself features circular imitation stippling which adds to the pistol's custom look and provides effective and comfortable grips whether you wear gloves in game or not.

The trigger guard includes undercuts to provide an area for your support hand to index, giving you the best chance of achieving a consistent grip every time you draw the 3.8 Vengeance. This will cut down the time from draw to first shot, and encourage proper handling of the pistol. Undercuts are usually something which requires some serious elbow grease to add; it's always nice to see VORSK treating us to the very best handling features in such an affordable Hi-Capa platform!

The trigger itself is a skeletonised design, styled similarly to the hammer, including linear texturing on its frontal surface to promote a consistent trigger pull and prevent your finger from sliding around and pulling shots off during strings of rapid-fire. The trigger, as with many other Hi-capa and 1911 variants, has a very small amount of uptake before you get to the wall, and resets with a satisfying audible and tactile click with practically no overtravel. The trigger makes real 1911 and Hi-capa pistols so popular with competition shooters; fortunately for Airsofters, this perk has translated over well to the Airsoft equivalents. If you are shooting for speed, whether in a skirmish or for target shooting, you can't do much better than a Hi-capa trigger!
