  • 20mm Rail for long eye relief scope
  • 500 FPS +/- 10% - SPICY!

If you love a heavy, realistic revolver replica, you will be smitten with the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 'Competitor' CO2 Airsoft Revolver! This beast replicates the real steel S&W 629 Competitor, a revolver designed for competitive shooting and chambered in the mighty .44 Magnum. Constructed entirely from hefty and well-finished alloy, the Umarex 629 Competitor tips the scales at an enormous 1.5kg, giving you a sense of realism that few other Airsoft revolvers can match.

When it comes to performance, the 629 Competitor is a bit on the spicy side to say the least, hitting out at 500 FPS +/- 10% using 0.2g BBs. This means it is unlikely to be site legal but will make one heck of a plinker for target shooting, offering a realistic revolver experience thanks to its working double action/single action trigger, rotating cylinder, functional hammer and realistically finished .44 Magnum style shells. If you would rather run a GBB pistol in-game to stay competitive but long for a revolver for the cool factor, the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 'Competitor' CO2 Airsoft Revolver will put a silly grin on your face!

Description

If you're looking for a unique Airsoft experience, the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 'Competitor' CO2 Airsoft Revolver will give you what you seek. This full metal CO2-powered revolver replica is based on the real steel S&W Model 629 Competitor, a competition-optimised revolver with adjustable muzzle weights and a 20mm optics rail intended for long eye relief scopes machined into the outer barrel itself.

When it comes to skirmishing, this is one of those platforms you will have to consult your local site's staff before using. On a fresh CO2 bulb and 0.2g BBs with no HOP-up applied, the 629 Competitor hits out at 500 FPS +/- 10% and its double action/single action trigger system means it can be shot quite quickly and is unlikely to fall under single shot sniper rifle rules.

That said, this would be a super fun plinking platform, offering unparalleled realism with its realistic shells, rotating cylinder and realistic hammer/trigger action. If you're a revolver fan looking for a unique design in its most realistic form to add to the collection, you'll love the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 'Competitor' CO2 Airsoft Revolver!

Starting at the front of the super menacing 5.5-inch outer barrel we can see mock rifling at the muzzle and realistic mock muzzle weights just below. The muzzle weights can be removed and reconfigured using an Allen key but this is more of a nod to the real 629 Competitor as the weights are made from aluminium and barely affect the already significant heft of the revolver. Up top, we have a fixed front sight post paired with an adjustable open rear sight on the frame, allowing windage and elevation to be adjusted so you can sight in the 629 Competitor perfectly.

Running along the top of the barrel, we have a 20mm optic rail designed for long eye relief pistol scopes. The rail matches the width of 20mm rails but isn't suitable for every 20mm Picatinny compatible optic; only those that use a single rail slot or two separate scope rings. As long eye relief pistol scopes are very rare for Airsoft, we suggest a Micro Red Dot sight if you want to add an optic to the 629 Competitor.

Moving rearwards, we come to the frame, constructed from hefty and well-finished alloy just like the barrel. Being as realistic as replica revolvers get, the 629 Competitor has a realistic opening cylinder and realistic shells, completing the authentic revolver experience. To open the cylinder and get to the shells, you can push forwards on the textured cylinder release on the left side and the cylinder will swing out. The cylinder release also functions as a hidden trigger/hammer lock safety by pushing it rearwards, giving you an added level of security when the revolver is stored.

With the cylinder opened you can push the cylinder axis pin to punch the realistically sized .44 magnum shells out, just like a real revolver. Compatibility-wise, the S&W 629 uses proprietary shells which work with both the Umarex Model 29 and Model 629 series but are not compatible with Dan Wesson or HFC shells. To load each shell with BBs, simply push a single BB into the rear of each shell where it will be retained via a rubber O-ring. This can be done without removing the shells, making the reload process slightly less challenging than removing each shell.

Following the cylinder, we come to the flat "spur" hammer which is easy to cock thanks to its textured surface. Cocking the hammer will prime the trigger in "single action" mode, giving you a shorter trigger pull for more accurate shots. Pulling the trigger without cocking the hammer will rotate the cylinder, cock the hammer and fire the shot all in rapid succession in what is known as "double action".The hammer and trigger are both constructed from alloy, providing an ear-pleasing metal-on-metal noise as you shoot.

Moving downwards, we come to the grip which is a perfect match for the real S&T 629 Competitor, down to the grippy dot texturing on each side and S&W logo roundel on the tang. The grip has comfortable finger ridges on the front and is shaped to fit the hand perfectly, keeping this hefty revolver firmly in your grasp during wet weather or when wearing gloves. The surface of the grips even includes a slightly rubberised texture, giving you a luxurious feel to match this beautiful piece.

The Umarex S&W 629 contender is powered by 12g CO2 bulbs, one of which needs to be inserted into the grip to fire. To achieve this, you can remove the left side of the grip via the ident on the base; simply get a fingernail in there and lift it free.

With this done, insert your CO2 capsule (we recommend putting a small amount of silicone dropper oil on the top of the canister to keep the internal seals healthy) and tighten down the Allen screw on the baseplate using the included Allen key. With your CO2 bulb installed, you can replace the left-side grip panel by indexing the alloy hook at the top of the grip panel with the corresponding slot in the frame and then pressing the grip panel back into place. A single CO2 bulb can provide up to 100 shots with this revolver, making it a very economical backyard plinker to shoot!

If you like a wheelgun and the prerequisite heft, realism and power that comes with wielding one, the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 'Competitor' CO2 Airsoft Revolver is sure to have you grinning from ear to ear. While it may not be allowed on most skirmish sites, the effect on target provided by 500 FPS on a 0.2g BB will have coke cans exploding and steel ringing!
