- Full metal construction
- Ultra-modern P90 platform
- Designed by Novritsch, Licenced by FNH
The Novritsch SSR90 is a radical reinvention of the P90 PDW concept, bringing this ageing spacegun into the 21st century with a significant external overhaul and the usual Novritsch compliment of pre-upgraded internals.
With a new M-LOK upper receiver, skeletonised trigger, QD sling points and a newly designed rubberised butt plate, the SSR90 has far more attachment interfaces than the original P90, better handling and a far shorter trigger pull, ideal for CQB bouts. The body is made from fantastic quality reinforced polymer and to make matters even sweeter, the SSR90 can be kitted out with Novritsch Rail Extension for even more accessory space or the Minimal Receiver Conversion for an even more unique aesthetic.
What is sure to turn heads is its phenomenal performance, particularly in terms of rate of fire and long range accuracy. This thing hits 17 rounds per second on a 7.4V LiPo battery, which is outlandish, to say the least. With a Maple Leaf HOP-up rubber and a newly designed TDC HOP-up unit, a 6.03mm tight bore inner barrel and a programmable ETU/MOSFET control unit, the Novritsch SSR90 FN Herstal P90 AEG Submachine Gun sure means business when it comes to performance!

Description
The Novritsch SSR90 is a P90 with a side of style, taking a detour from the usual emphasis on realism to enhance the P90 platform for the modern Airsoft battlefield. Boasting full metal construction and significant external enhancements, this is the P90 for the performance-oriented skirmisher who doesn't want the hassle of building a beastly P90 themselves.
This TM P90-based design was conceived by passionate Airsofters in Vienna, including Novritsch himself, and is not only spiced up on the outside but has been thoroughly reworked internally with a newly designed TDC HOP-up unit, 6.03mm tight bore inner barrel, programmable ETU/MOSFET and a high torque Neodymium magnet motor to give it almost unrivalled performance, and a truly terrifying rate of fire.
The SSR90 platform also comes with laser engraved FN Herstal markings licenced by Cybergun, giving this unique P90 configuration an air of realism for a plausible "what if" futuristic, modernised P90. If you have even been put off getting yourself a P90 AEG because of its lack of M-LOK or QD sling points, the SSR90 gives you no excuse!
Starting at the tip of the outer barrel we can find a P90-style slant flash hider, with dual ports at the top which matches the earlier P90 flash hider designs. This flash hider mounts to 14mm CCW male threads, making the SSR90 a great suppressor or tracer host. If you aren't aware of how awesome a suppressed P90 looks, check it out on your favourite search engine and take it in. This thing is made for suppressors!
The SSR90, like the P90 it is based on, is a bullpup style design, which means the action (barrel, gearbox etc) is positioned behind the trigger as opposed to in front, as it would be in a conventionally laid out rifle. This has the advantage that the SSR90 has a far longer inner barrel than its size would usually allow, granting better range and accuracy than a conventionally laid-out rifle of the same length.
The disadvantage is that the reload process is less intuitive, though this can be overcome with training and technique, and is lessened thanks to the P90 upper receiver design which incorporates a magazine guide to help you insert the unconventional magazine smoothly every time. With most bullpups, ambidextrous use would be an issue due to the placement of the controls, but this is not a problem for the P90 or SSR90 due to their completely ambidextrous design. Left or right-handed, the SSR90 works just as well either way.
Immediately following the flash hider we come to the body of the SSR90, which consists of an upper receiver complete with a carry handle/optics mounting bridge, charging handles and magazine well guide, and the lower receiver/stock which comprises the stock, foregrip and controls. Unlike other Airsoft platforms, the charging handles of the P90 design don't open a dust cover or retract a mock bolt, but are nonetheless constructed from metal and can be pulled back for added realism.
The upper receiver is constructed from aluminium for appropriate realism and strength, and the lower receiver/stock is constructed from nylon fibre-reinforced polymer. These two major components can be separated with the press of a single button, which can be found on the top of the stock where the metal upper receiver meets it. Pressing this button will allow the upper receiver to be separated from the stock, either for maintenance or storage.
Along either side of the upper receiver, just above the charging handle, we are treated to a deeply recessed Novritsch logo, with the model name "SSR90" alongside. The upper receiver optics mounting bridge has licenced FN Herstal trademarks laser engraved on the left side, and there are more FN Herstal trades laser engraved into the left side of the lower receiver/stock, just above the thumbhole. This P90 proudly sports its brand pedigree, as any impressively performing AEG with an eye-catching external design should do.
At the 12 o'clock position on the SSR90's optics mounting bridge, we have a 20mm Picatinny rail which has been hollowed out in the centre to help maintain a low weight and keep the SSR90 well-balanced for perfect handling. This rail is ready for you to mount a red dot sight straight away for some rapid snap shooting but is also long enough that you may be able to fit larger optics on with a single-piece mount to take advantage of the SSR90 upgraded HOP-up chamber, HOP-up rubber and tight bore inner barrel.
On either side of the optics mounting bridge, we have M-LOK negative space attachment slots, with a pair positioned at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, and a row of three above at an offset angle. The slots at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions can accept 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for M-LOK, meaning you can add your 20mm mounted accessories without issue, but the three slots above are ideally suited to M-LOK-specific accessories as there is not enough room between these slots and the top rail to add an M-LOK 20mm rail adapter. These angled slots are perfect for a tactical flashlight, such as the WADSN Scout Light Pro, which comes with a direct M-LOK mount.
Moving down to the lower receiver we come to the controls of the SSR90 and its distinctive thumbhole stock and foregrip. This shape is what makes the P90 platform so recognisable, with its permanently modern and sci-fi appearance making it look like a space gun, even in the Space Force era, 32 years after the real P90 came about.
The gripping position may seem awkward at first, especially if you are used to an M4-style grip, but it comes with its fair share of advantages. Both the thumbhole stock and foregrip are extremely short and coupled with the top-mounted magazine this allows you to get very low in the prone position with the SSR90 and make the best use of the surrounding cover. P90 AEGs have been a favoured choice as a backup weapon for Snipers because of this, along with their compact and easy-to-carry form.
The trigger of the SSR90 is a new design, with a modular front piece which is skeletonised to provide custom looks and reduce weight. The front face of this trigger is flat to allow for quick double taps in the semi-automatic mode in a similar style to flat "speed" triggers found on other AEGs. The trigger pull of the SSR90 is a vast improvement over the standard P90 platform and has a shorter pull and far less creep before the internal linkage triggers the gearbox to cycle. Previously doing a "trigger job" on your P90 was a homebrew thing, and could have varying results. Novritsch has seen to this and has saved you a job and headache if you intend to use your SSR90 in the tight confines of a CQB site, where trigger response matters the most.
The fire selector can be found just below the trigger, is accessible from either side of the AEG and can be actuated with the trigger finger. The fire selector provides three modes; a safe mode, indicated with a recessed "S" which locks the trigger, a semi-automatic mode which is indicated with a "1" and full-auto, which is indicated with an "A". The full-auto mode provides a two-stage trigger which allows for semi-automatic fire with a short pull and full-auto with a long pull. This works the same way the real P90 does and is a nice touch for realism with some in-skirmish functionality to boot. If you are laying down some accurate semi-auto shots and the enemy makes a run between cover, you can immediately send a burst their way and almost guarantee a hit through volume of fire!
Moving rearward we come to the stock's thumbhole, within which we can find the HOP-up adjustment window. This comes in the form of a small port with a cover which can be slid back to reveal the rotary adjustment dial of the newly designed TDC HOP-up unit. This unit is intended to provide more direct force to the top of the HOP-up nub in order to minimise side-to-side shot deviation. Coupling the TDC design with a rotary adjuster means you can apply very precise adjustments to the HOP-up, and take full advantage of the game-changing Maple Leaf HOP-up rubber installed in the SSR90.
At the top of the stock/lower receiver, we can find the magazine release which requires pulling back on both sides of the control to release the top-mounted magazine. The magazine insertion method of the SSR90 is the same as the P90, including the indexing groove at the front of the upper receiver and the guide on either side. This method can take some adaptation to get used to but is remarkably fast once you have had some practice, especially if you are lying prone and taking cover, you can switch mags far faster and easier than an M4 user. To insert the mag, all you need to do is slide it into position and slap the magazine down where it will lock-in. The SSR90 is compatible with any P90 AEG magazine, including the M4 high-cap box magazine adapter.
As we arrive at the rear of the SSR90 we can take note of even more enhancements added by Novritsch and his team, giving the old P90 platform a refresh with much-needed functionality added. On either side of the toe of the stock, we can find a sling slot which can be used with a traditional P90 sling, and a QD sling socket on either side just above the sling slot. The P90 has been crying out for QD sling sockets, but the design came about before the QD socket became commonplace. The SSR90 allows you to choose from the legacy P90 single-point sling and a QD sling setup, which can be used as a single-point sling or as a two-point sling with the addition of a front sling socket for M-LOK, mounted on the optic mounting bridge. This is another perk of the M-LOK upper receiver, as mounting a two-point sling setup to a normal P90 would be a hassle, even with the triple-railed (TR) variant.
At the very back of the SSR90, we can find the newly designed rubber butt plate which has deep linear serrations on its surface to prevent the stock from slipping off your shoulder in wet weather, and keep the SSR90 securely in your shoulder if wearing a plate carrier style tactical vest. This butt plate grips onto your shoulder securely and is a vast improvement over the standard polymer butt plate provided on other P90 AEGs. The butt plate also includes the Novritsch logo, in his own recognisable font.
The butt plate can be removed by pulling it down and then off to gain access to the SSR90's battery compartment. Inside you will find space for up to a 7.4V 1500mAh LiPo battery. Novritsch recommends a 7.4V LiPo battery for the 1 joule variant of the SSR90 which is the model we are stocking, so don't use an 11.1V battery unless you are happy to void your warranty and potentially break your gun. You may find videos of the SSR90 using an 11.1V battery but this is the European/American spec version and uses a much stronger spring which requires an 11.1V to function. With our 1 joule version, you will have an immense rate of fire with a 7.4V battery and also benefit from reduced strain on the gearbox for longer-lasting fun!
So, if you were considering a P90 but found it lacking in modernity, the SSR90 should fill that hole and give you the ultra-modern P90 AEG you always dreamed of! For those more skirmish-focused, the SSR90 has performance that will measure up to all but the very best hand-upgraded AEGs and is packing more than its fair share of factory-installed upgrades specified by Novritsch himself. Whether you are clearing rooms in CQB or keeping the enemy at bay as you relocate to a new sniper's hide, the SSR90 would be an asset on the skirmish field.

Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
