  • High density polymer construction
  • G&G G2 Gearbox - Same internals as ARP9/SSG-1
  • Advanced multi-position side folding stock

Amidst the endless droves of pistol calibre carbines and SMGs currently being released, G&G present the MXC-9 to reassert its dominance in the field of CQB Airsoft platforms. The MXC-9 is constructed from high density polymer with a CNC machined aluminium handguard, and makes use of G&G’s superb G2 gearbox, complete with programmable fire controls allowing for 3 round burst.

In the looks department, the MXC-9  is largely based on G&G’s PCC45, and is even compatible with PCC45 magazines, but blends the receiver style of the PCC45 with a shorter handguard, sound amplifying muzzle device and a newly designed multi-position folding stock. Consider this the lovechild of the MCX and PCC45, with the frightening performance of the ARP-9 and SSG-1’s G2 gearbox!

Description

If you can’t decide between a Scorpion EVO and an ARP-9, you no longer have to! If you squint, the new G&G MXC-9 looks like a lot of different guns but is truly its own kind of beast, based on the impressive G&G PCC45 but with a new shorter handguard, curved 9mm style magazine and advanced side folding SCAR-like stock. If you have been eyeing up the MPX but you are a speedy player who wants a lightweight and high ROF platform, the MXC-9 is right up your street!

Starting at the tip of the ultra short 5-inch alloy outer barrel we can find a polymer sound amplifying muzzle device. The difference this device makes to the muzzle report of the MXC-9 cannot be overstated, and it transforms the usual “wirrrPOP” of an AEG firing into a “BOOM”, quite literally. There is nowhere to hide from the MXC-9, though you will also draw a lot of attention in game with such a loud platform! Fortunately, we are happy to report that you can easily add a tracer unit or suppressor if you prefer to use more sneaky tactics, thanks to the 14mm CCW male threaded barrel.

Next up we come to the CNC aluminium handguard of the MXC-9 which sports M-LOK attachment slots at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions, and a 20mm Picatinny rail along the top which seamlessly integrates with the receiver rail. The front end of the handguard is swept back, and it has a built in hand stop at the 6 o’clock position, providing a dynamic high speed look which matches the ultra modern design aesthetic of the platform.

The 20mm upper rail allows for 20mm Picatinny accessories to be mounted directly, and despite the short length of the MXC-9, there is plenty of space for any optic you want. You may get funny looks with a 6-32x50 riflescope on this sub gun, but it's your gun and you have the space, run it how you like!

The M-LOK slots on the handguard sides and bottom allow for M-LOK accessories to be directly mounted and can also make use of 20mm Picatinny rail sections for M-LOK for even broader accessory options. The MXC-9 comes with a rotation limited M-LOK QD sling socket mounted to its M-LOK slots and this can be moved to any of the slots on the handguard, offering you ample flexibility with how you sling the platform and preventing the swivel from spinning uncontrollably with its rotation limited functionality.

You would be forgiven for looking at images of the MXC-9 and thinking it has a monolithic receiver/handguard; such is the quality of the fitting and design of the MXC-9! It is in fact a separate handguard and receiver, though the blend between the handguard and receiver is one of the best we have seen. The receiver itself is constructed from high density polymer and is tightly fitted to the handguard, with no wobble whatsoever, and even has weight-reducing ports styled to look like M-LOK slots along both sides, similarly to the real steel LWRC SMG45, or Double Eagle UTR45.

At the top centre of the upper receiver is where we can find the charging handle, which is an ambidextrous design with dual handles which fold flat against the receiver when not in use. This is a great feature and makes the MXC-9 sleek and easy to handle in-game by minimising snags which is of even greater benefit when the weapon is used on a sling. There is nothing worse than a sling snag, thanks to G&G for factoring this in when designing the MXC-9!

At the rear of the upper, just before we get to the stock you will find a conventional sling ring, ideally suited to single-point bungee slings. This piece is made from alloy to add strength where needed and can be removed and reinstalled on the right side if you prefer a lefty setup. Just be aware, with this sling point on the right side you will no longer be able to fold your stock!

The charging handle also provides access to the HOP-up unit of the MXC-9 which is located inside the ejection port on the right side, hiding behind a mock bolt carrier marked “9x19mm”. With the charging handle pulled back it will lock in place, and you can access the rotary dial of the HOP-up unit to make adjustments you need. The rotary unit style is fast becoming the norm, replacing the legacy gear unit to offer a wider range of adjustment in finer increments, and is more capable of holding its setting under the vibrations of full auto fire, which is extra important with the MXC-9 with its extreme rate of fire. With your HOP-up adjustment complete you can drop the mock bolt carrier with either of the ambidextrous bolt release levers, located on either side of the magazine well.

The lower receiver boasts a perfect hybrid of modern features; M4/AR15 style pistol grip and selector, with an MPX/Scorpion EVO style flared magazine well. The M4/AR15 selector is a well liked design, with a 90-degree throw between each fire mode to allow for fast operation while avoiding the risk of knocking the selector out of place accidentally. The M4 style pistol grip is also a welcome addition, and while the G&G grip is very comfortable and looks great, we know you all have your preferred grip and you are free to add it to the MXC-9 thanks to its M4 AEG grip compatibility.

The flared magazine well makes reloads an absolute breeze; no longer do you have to practice day and night to run your primary like Travis Haley. Reloading this thing is so quick and easy that it almost feels like cheating, and the wide flare of the magwell is far more forgiving of newer players who want to go fast than an M4, or god forbid, an AK! The magazine release is positioned centrally, just ahead of the trigger guard, allowing for left or right-handed shooters to reload intuitively and without any 3 handed operations or switching shoulders.

Following the receiver, we come to the stock of the MXC-9 which is a unique design based on the multi-adjustable stocks of the SCAR and ACR rifles. The stock offers length of pull adjustment via the trigger style adjustment lever at the bottom of the stock, as well as an adjustable cheek riser to give you a better view down your sights whether you wear full face protection in game or simple shooting glasses. The stock can also be folded to the side to allow the compact MXC-9 to be even smaller for better manoeuvrability in tight quarters.

At the rear of the stock, we are also treated to a pair of QD sling sockets, one on either side. This means you can set the MXC-9 up with a QD sling solution using QD sling swivels, and disconnect your weapon from the sling in seconds! The use of QD sockets in the stock, together with the provision of an M-LOK QD sling socket at the front means the MXC-9 is ready for the most modern sling setups and is also evidence of G&Gs forward-thinking design team doing what they need to do to stay at the cutting edge!

The battery compartment of the MXC-9 is inside this stock which makes the stock's plethora of features all the more impressive. To access the battery compartment you will need to raise the cheek riser to its highest position using the buttons located on either side of the riser and then press the button at the front centre of the riser. With this complete, the riser can be lifted upwards and away to reveal the battery compartment. Inside you will find a mini-Tamiya battery connector to which you mount your chosen battery. Due to the G&G ETU in the MXC-9, the AEG is only compatible with 11.1V LiPo batteries, which is great news for high rate of fire fans. We recommend an 11.1V 900mAh LiPo battery for an easy fit and great performance.

When it comes to internals, the MXC-9 boasts the same astonishingly fast gearbox found in the ARP-9, SSG-1, and ARP556; known as the G&G G2 gearbox. These are the platforms that really put G&G on the map with their withering rate of fire, lightning-fast trigger response and programmable fire controls, offering 3-round burst as an alternative to full auto, with a quick and easy change between the two. The burst mode is controlled by the G&G electronic trigger unit, which is one of the best bits of this gearbox, and can be programmed using the fire controls of the MXC-9 itself.

To switch from full auto to burst mode all you need to do is position the fire selector in the semi-auto position and hold the trigger down for 10 seconds. With this complete, you will now have a super snappy 3-round burst in place of full auto, which is ideal for increasing hit probability when engaging targets at long range and is particularly useful for moving targets. To switch back to the spray and pray mode simply carry out this process again and you are back to sending a torrent of BBs downrange at the discretion of your trigger finger.

So, if you fancy the looks of the MPX, but you want something that is more performance-oriented, G&G’s MXC-9 would be perfect for the job. Its lightweight speed soft friendly build and advanced internals make this practically an ARP-9 or SSG-1 in the performance department but with a fresh new external look akin to the end result of a wild night of passion between an MPX and a UTR45. If you want to show the AR-9 wielding speed demons that there is another way, get yourself an MXC-9 and give them what for!
