If you seek the immersive firing experience and challenging playstyle of a GBBR, the EMG CGS Daniel Defense DDM4® PDW SBR GBBR is worthy of your attention! This compact full metal PDW style AR boasts official licensing from Daniel Defense and full DD trademarks across the design, with awesome replicas of DD's latest furniture and controls.

Inside, the DDM4 PDW GBBR is based on the Tokyo Marui ZET system, the best of the best when it comes to GBBR internal design. CGS has added a steel bolt carrier, steel trigger parts and a short stroked buffer into the mix, meaning enhanced strength in all the key areas and an absolutely killer rate of fire, especially compared with other GBBRs.

If you plan to use a GBBR in CQB skirmishes, this is probably the best option out there right now without spending thousands and building it yourself. Licenced trademarks, a full metal build packed with steel internal parts with a 6.03mm tightbore to top it off, you won't find another out-of-the-box GBBR with a full-size rifle style bolt as fast as this!

Description

If you're looking for a GBBR specifically for CQB, the EMG CGS Daniel Defense DDM4® PDW SBR GBBR is the right tool for the job. Based on the Tokyo Marui ZET system internally, this GBBR is rocking a steel bolt carrier, steel trigger parts and is short-stroked to improve rate of fire and trigger response without compromising its immersive and jarring recoil.

Externally, the DDM4 PDW is built as an almost perfect match for the real DDM4 PDW, down to its perfectly replicated DD MFR XL M-LOK handguard, Tornado pistol grip, Grip-n-Rip charging handle and DD marked receiver, 300BLK marked dust cover and DD marked mock bolt carrier. If you're looking for a compact AR, whether it is for CQB or a fast-moving outdoor playstyle, you can't do much better than the EMG DDM4 PDW!

Starting at the front, we can find a perfectly replicated DD linear compensator, matching the OEM muzzle device of the real DDM4 PDW perfectly. The linear comp functions similarly to a sound amplifier when it comes to Airsoft, giving this compact platform a psychological warfare advantage up close thanks to its booming muzzle report. If you're more of a sneaky skirmisher or you need a tracer for an instinct-aiming advantage, you can replace the linear comp with a 14mm CCW muzzle device of your choice, including tracer units, suppressors and alternative flash hiders.

Immediately behind the linear compensator, we come to the flawlessly replicated DD MFR XL handguard, measuring 6 inches in overall length. The handguard boasts M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions with additional slots at the upper offset angles, ready for M-LOK accessories.

The upper surface features a 20mm Picatinny rail which runs back to meet the receiver rail seamlessly, allowing for optical sights of practically any length to be mounted despite the short overall length of the DDM4 PDW. Also present on the handguard are a pair of QD sling sockets, allowing for QD sling swivels to be mounted. On the top rail, we are treated to a set of flip-up aperture iron sights, a compact set well suited to the DDM4 PDW design. The sights can be deployed by hand, and are fully adjustable for both windage and elevation.

Next up, we reach the receiver which is a stunning showcase of licenced Daniel Defense trademarks, flawlessly engraved and a perfect match for the real DDM4 PDW. The left side of the upper receiver also includes a 300BLK calibre marking in high-vis white laser engraving, together with the stylised DDM4 logo at the rear. The dust cover, found on the right side, also features 300BLK markings and is constructed from high density polymer to match modern weight-reduced dust covers found on the latest H&K HK416 rifles as well as Daniel Defense's DDMK18.

The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver, and as we might expect, is a licenced Daniel Defense design. Known as the "Grip-N-Rip" charging handle. The handle is ambidextrous, with enlarged latches on either side allowing for flawless functionality whether you wear gloves or not.

Pulling the charging handle back will pop open the dust cover and reveal the mock bolt carrier with its DD trademarks. The mock bolt carrier will lock to the rear, allowing access to the rotary HOP-up unit. This unit is constructed from alloy for increased strength, allowing you to tune the DDM4 PDW for your chosen ammo weight. Once your adjustment is complete, slap the "ping pong paddle" bolt catch on the left side to send the mock bolt home with a satisfying "clank".

The fire selector switch is located on the left side of the receiver, just above the pistol grip and is a standard M4A1 mil-spec design with a textured surface for optimal traction in wet weather. The selector provides 3 modes of fire; safe, semi-automatic and fully automatic, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. The selector switch is one of the best aspects of the M4 design, easily accessible and fast to use with enough distance between modes that it isn't easy to knock out of position inadvertently.

The magazine release button is over on the right side of the magazine well, a standard M4/AR-15 push button release but compatible with aftermarket ambidextrous alternatives. The button is surrounded by a raised protrusion in the receiver, known as the "magazine release fence" and designed to prevent the mag release from accidentally being pressed as the DDM4 PDW rubs against your gear. Another great aspect of the AR-15 design, the magazine release is easily accessible from a firing grip, making for scorchingly fast reloads as long as you practice!

Sandwiched between the buffer tube and receiver, we are treated to an ambidextrous sling plate offering a centrally positioned QD sling socket, ready for a QD sling swivel and in the ideal spot to mount a single-point sling. This socket could also be paired with the front QD sockets if you prefer a two-point sling or the socket on the stock. Plenty of sling options on this lil beast!

At the rear, we can find a shortened AR buffer tube offering 5 adjustment positions for the pre-installed LWRC-style compact sliding stock. The tube is shorter than the usual AR-15 buffer tube, cutting off a bit of length so you have the option of running it fully collapsed and leaning into the compact nature of the DDM4 PDW. The LWRC-style stock includes QD sling sockets on either side and a rubber butt plate for optimal grip. The stock can be adjusted by holding the textured adjustment lever and sliding into your position of choice.

On the inside, the CGS DDM4 PDW is based on the Tokyo Marui ZET System used in its MWS M4A1. This is already a flex, as the TM system is known to be far superior to other GBBR systems and has the widest aftermarket for upgrades. Speaking of upgrades, CYMA/CGS has sorted many of the known weak points in the TM design by using steel trigger parts, giving you a longer-lasting GBBR platform and saving you a wad of cash when it comes to upgrading down the line.

To provide super strong recoil and an immersive firing experience, CGS added a steel bolt carrier to the ZET System formula, providing heightened immersion thanks to its extra mass. This extra weight is offset by the short-stroked nature of the bolt carrier, besting the longer DD GBBRs in rate of fire and response, making the DDM4 PDW a real CQB beast. Also present in the CGS build is a 6.03mm tightbore, giving an edge in accuracy potential and gas efficiency, letting this short rifle do some good work at long range.

If you're a CQB specialist looking for that realistic GBBR experience, the DDM4 PDW might be the perfect platform for you. With a stunning rate of fire, impressive accuracy and incredible build quality, this bite-sized GBBR packs a full size punch!

Special Instructions

The HOP-up on the DDM4 PDW arrives set to its lowest setting. If you find BBs roll out of the barrel when you attempt to shoot, we suggest adjusting the HOP-up to ensure reliable feeding.

This is a Gas Blowback Rifle. GBBRs require maintenance and careful handling and we do not recommend them for new skirmishers. Things to watch out for if this is your first GBBR:

  • The rifle cannot be put into "Safe" mode without first being cocked. Generally, the best way to store a GBBR is with the magazine removed, the rifle uncocked and the fire selector set to "semi". Do not force the selector into "Safe" when the rifle isn't cocked; this will damage the trigger group parts.
  • The HOP-up adjuster for this TM ZET system GBBR is inside the upper receiver and is accessible through the magazine well using a flathead screwdriver when the bolt is locked open.
  • GBBRs need to be cocked before the first shot, just like a GBB pistol. It is important that you do not double load a GBBR as this can break the nozzle. We recommend clearing the chamber of BBs with a cleaning rod in the event that you finish firing mid-magazine and the bolt does not lock back and show an empty chamber.
  • GBBRs generally use higher pressure gas than GBB pistols due to the extra weight of the bolt. We recommend Green Gas (NUPROL 2.0, VORSK V6, ASG Ultraair) for general use and Red Gas (NUPROL 3.0, VORSK V8) for cold weather use.
  • The faster you shoot a GBBR, the less accurate it will be. This is due to pressure variance as the gas reservoir cools down. Full auto is basically for fun, and these rifles run far better when used in semi-auto mode.
  • Like a GBB pistol, GBBR magazines require maintenance. We recommend leaving a small amount of gas inside the magazine when stored, and not storing the magazines in a cold or damp environment. Magazine seals and valves will need lubrication and to be kept clear of dust and debris.
