Description
Double Eagle has created a perfect CQB-ready platform. The short length is exactly what you need for taking those corners quickly in the close confines of an indoor skirmish. The foldable skeletonised stock cuts down on overall weight and allows you to make the platform even shorter, so it can be easily wielded with one hand. The Kestrel V2 ETU has programmable pre-cocking, which is exactly what you need for outshooting your opponents when they catch you by surprise!
The Kestrel V2 offers programmable fire modes including 3 round burst and binary trigger, adjustable pre-cocking with 6 levels to choose from and several quality-of-life functions such as low battery warning and cycle completion. The result is a remarkably snappy trigger when pre-cocking is set and the ability for you to set up your SMG however you want, such as SAFE-SEMI-3RND BURST fire controls.
Starting at the tip of the outer barrel we can find an M4/AR-15 birdcage flash hider mounted to 14mm CCW male threading. The outer barrel is constructed from alloy to provide a strong backbone and keep the tightbore inner barrel nice and straight for perfect accuracy. If you want to mount a tracer unit, suppressor or alternative muzzle device all you need to do is unscrew the flash hider and mount your preferred device thanks to the common 14mm CCW threading at the tip of the barrel.
The handguard is equipped with M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, ready for any M-LOK accessories to be directly mounted. M-LOK is one of the latest accessory interfaces to hit the market, both for real steel and Airsoft, allowing you to fit M-LOK vertical or angled grips directly, or mount 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for M-LOK to make use of 20mm Picatinny grips, flashlights and laser units.
With a 20mm Picatinny rail at the 12 o'clock position, the handguard also provides a mounting point for the included flip-up aperture iron sights which can either be left flipped down or removed entirely if you prefer to use a red dot sight or scope. The irons can be raised and lowered by hand, with no need to press buttons or fiddle with catches, and are fully adjustable for both windage and elevation.
The handguard's upper Picatinny rail meets the 20mm rail on the receiver seamlessly, allowing large optical sights and red dot sight + magnifier combos the extra space they need to be mounted easily. The receiver itself is constructed from fibre-reinforced high-density polymer with a beautiful matt finish and a high-quality textured feel, keeping the weight low and the strength high, with added scratch resistance so the odd mid-skirmish bump or scrape doesn't mean your pride and joy looks scruffy.
Found within the handguard is the battery compartment. To access it, there is a removable tab at the front of the platform, it can be twisted and pulled off. The Double Eagle M924 DMP-9 Submachine Gun AEG; Kestrel V2 ETU has a Deans style connector, to fit the space, we recommend a 11.1v 1300mAh LiPo Nunchuck Battery.
When it comes to the controls, the M924 DMP-9 boasts ambidextrous features, offering comfortable and well-placed controls which are easy to master for almost any user. The fire selector switch can be found on both sides of the receiver, just above the pistol grip, offering 3 modes of fire by default; SAFE, SEMI-AUTOMATIC and FULL AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. Being equipped with the Kestrel V2 ETU, this SMG also boasts programmable fire modes including binary trigger and 3-round burst.
The receiver follows the familiar to most M4/AR15 layout but with a selection of ambidextrous controls. The fire selector switch is positioned just above the pistol grip on the left side and has a 90-degree throw between fire modes, allowing for fast operation with a reduced risk of accidentally slipping into the wrong fire mode.
The magazine release is very similar to an MP5/SMG-5 platform, offering an M4/AR15 style release button on either side, with the option to use the centrally positioned ambidextrous MP5 style paddle magazine release instead. Having two options for releasing the magazine makes the M924 DMP-9 easy to use regardless of your experience level, and the M4/AR15 style release is great for emergency reloads, while the MP5 style release is perfect for retention reloads for those who don’t like throwing their magazines around.
The ejection port is located on the right side of the upper receiver, similar to an M4/AR15 but with a smaller window to correctly simulate the 9mm styling of the SBR. This is a nice little detail for those in the know, as it mimics the original Colt SMG well, which was the first 9mm chambered M4/AR15 style rifle. The charging handle is in the same spot as on the M4, and pulling it back will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt, revealing the gear HOP-up adjuster inside. The HOP-up applies a varied amount of backspin to your projectiles, providing better stability and allowing you to tune the AEG for different weights of ammo. Once the mock bolt is locked back and you have adjusted your Hop-up, you can activate the ambidextrous bolt release to send the mock bolt back home.
The trigger is the standard "mil-spec" design, with a curved face to keep your finger positioned properly and prevent bad habits from developing. The trigger guard is enlarged and built into the receiver, offering strength improvements when compared to the standard M4/AR-15 modular trigger guard and allowing easy access to the trigger for users wearing full-finger gloves. Gloves are very much necessary for Airsoft, especially CQB where a finger or knuckle shot can be absolutely eye-watering. Thankfully, the M924 DMP-9 accounts for this and will not punish you for being well-prepared for the battlefield!
The pistol grip is located at the bottom of the receiver and is a very modern, ergonomic design based on the real steel "Gunfighter" style grip. The grip has a crackle texture on each side and linear serrations at the front, providing perfect grip in any weather condition, even if you take your chances without gloves. The angle of the "gunfighter" style grip is slightly more vertical than the typical "A2" M4/AR-15 grip which improves comfort and eliminates wrist fatigue when shooting in modern shooting stances with the stock fully collapsed. The grip also has a filled-out backstrap, effectively supporting the web of the hand to keep your shooting position consistent for repeatability and accuracy.
The stock itself is constructed from polymer and mounts to an alloy hinge mechanism, perfectly balancing strength and low weight. There are two QD sling sockets on the rear of the stock, one on either side. The process of folding the stock is simple, grab the stock, brace the thumb on the receiver and pull the stock upwards, after which it can be folded to the side. To deploy the stock from the folded position simply push the stock back towards the original position and it will lock into place.
This AEG features some good internals for a rifle of this price range. It includes a version 2 gearbox with 18:1 ratio steel gears on 8mm ball bearing bushings, durable HOP-up rubber and a 6.04mm inner barrel. The highlight of the M923C M924 is its Kestrel V2 ETU/MOSFET, which offers 6 levels of adjustable pre-cocking, programmable fire modes, rate of fire adjustment, trigger sensitivity tuning, low battery warning, cycle completion, active braking and low/high voltage cutoff. That's a whole lot of features for a compact AEG!
All these exciting and game-changing programmable modes can be adjusted using the Eshooter App, simply download the app, connect to your M924 using Bluetooth and then you have access to a plethora of new functions that your replica is capable of. You can adjust settings such as the fire modes, rate of fire and trigger sensitivity all within the app. No longer do you have to find a specific sequence of trigger pulls just to add a slightly better trigger response to your replica.
The highlight of this Double Eagle M924 DMP-9 Submachine Gun AEGis its Kestrel V2 ETU/MOSFET, offering 6 levels of adjustable pre-cocking, options for 3-round burst and binary trigger along with low battery warning, cycle completion, active braking and low/high voltage cutoff. This means you can crank up the trigger response for super-fast double taps.
