Whether you need a long-ranged woodland primary or you're building a DMR, the Double Eagle M906A 16" M-LOK M4/AR-15 AEG is ideal for the task. This full metal M4/AR-15 platform is nice and long, with a 16-inch outer barrel and 15-inch M-LOK handguard and is kitted out internally with the FALCON EFCS MOSFET, a high torque motor and a tightbore inner barrel, giving you a head start over rival platforms and an external build destined for long ranged firefights.
Like other AEGs in the Double Eagle EFCS range, the build quality of the M906A is absolutely superb, making use of CNC machining for the handguard and with detailed yet discrete Double Eagle markings on the magazine well. Description
If you have your eyes on a modern DMR build, the M906A from Double Eagle would make a fantastic base gun. This M4/AR-15 AEG is the longest variant of the M90x series, boasting the same full metal construction, flawless build, ambidextrous controls and pre-upgraded internals as the shortys but with a lengthy 16" outer barrel and 15" handguard, making it ready for DMR or long-range duty.
Inside, you will find a 6.04mm tightbore inner barrel paired with a rotary HOP-up unit, giving you the best style of HOP unit and a tighter barrel bore than the average to guarantee superb long range performance. Inside the gearbox, things get even better, with a convenient quick change spring system allowing for easy power tuning and the positively epic FALCON EFCS MOSFET.
The FALCON lets you adjust trigger sensitivity and program the fire controls for burst mode and binary trigger all using the trigger and fire selector, with no extra programmers or apps needed to set the M906A up exactly how you like it. Whether you are an experienced skirmisher looking for a long-range platform or a new skirmisher who is keen to experience the more advanced side of Airsoft AEGs, the Double Eagle M906A will serve you well!
Starting at the front, we can find a tri-prong KAC-style flash hider constructed from steel, giving you a high-end muzzle device that suits the rifle perfectly straight out of the box. While the KAC style flash hider looks fantastic and really suits the rest of this KAC-inspired build, if you want to go sneaky with a suppressor or add a tracer unit to light the enemy up you can do so easily thanks to the 14mm CCW male threading at the tip of the alloy outer barrel. Just don't forget to remove the grub screw before unscrewing the flash hider!
Speaking of the barrel, it is extremely long, giving you a great base platform to build out into a DMR or long-range focussed build. With 16 inches to play with, the inner barrel is a respectable 420mm in length, adding to the air efficiency of the platform and giving it superb accuracy potential.
The handguard is almost the same length, measuring 15 inches overall, giving the M906A the cutting-edge looks of modern platforms with their minimal barrel length to handguard length disparity. This also means plenty of space for accessories, with M-LOK slots available at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions with additional M-LOK slots at the offset angles, ready for your M-LOK accessories.
On the top, we have a 20mm Picatinny rail which integrates seamlessly with the receiver rail, allowing for optical sights of almost unlimited length to be fitted along with PEQ laser aiming devices and whatever else you need to complete your mission. Also present on each side of the handguard is a QD sling point, positioned close to the receiver and ready for QD sling swivels to be added for a modern sling solution. As we might expect, the handguard is constructed from CNC machined aluminium, with a fantastic finish and bevelled edges so it can be used slick without gloves and avoid the cheese grater effect!
The receiver of the M906A follows the standard M4/AR-15 format but with loads of enhancements inspired by the latest variants of the real steel KAC SR16. All of the controls are ambidextrous, with the fire selector being mirrored on either side in a SAFE-SEMI-AUTO configuration with a 90-degree throw between each mode. The magazine release is on either side of the magazine well, a push-button design familiar to any M4/AR-15 user. The bolt catch is located on the left centre of the receiver and is linked through the receiver to a button on the right, allowing the bolt to be closed from either side. If you are left-handed or like to make the most of cover with shoulder-to-shoulder transitions, the M906A is ready for it!
The charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver and is patterned after ultra-modern "raptor" style charging handles, allowing it to be operated from either side with a single finger. Pulling the charging handle pack will pop open the steel dust cover on the right side and retract the mock bolt, locking it in place to reveal the rotary HOP-up adjuster. The rotary unit is the most recent HOP-up unit design for the M4/AR-15 and benefits over the older gear unit by providing finer adjustment increments and holding its setting for longer under the vibrations of full auto fire. When your HOP-up adjustment is complete, you can hit the bolt catch on either side to send the mock bolt home with a satisfying metal-on-metal "clank".
Moving down, we come to the pistol grip which is a unique Double Eagle design similar in shape to the popular PTS EPG-C, with a slim profile, linear texture on the front and rear and crackle texture on each side. The grip also boasts a nice large motor height adjustment screw, meaning if you ever need to adjust the motor engagement after internal work it should be nice and easy. Just ahead of the grip, we can find an enlarged KAC-style trigger guard, fitting in nicely with the other KAC-style aspects of the M906A and allowing fast and easy access to the trigger, whether you wear full-finger gloves or otherwise.
On each side of the receiver, as we reach the buffer tube we can find QD sling sockets built into each side of the receiver in true KAC style. These sockets can be used to add QD sling swivels and mount a sling of your choice, and it goes without saying, you definitely aren't short of sling sockets on the M906A!
Bringing up the rear we have the good old M4/AR-15 buffer tube, featuring a steel castle nut to keep it firmly mounted. The buffer tube itself allows for 6 positions of adjustment, allowing you to set the TS2 style stock in the perfect place to suit your body type and loadout.
The pre-installed stock is a TS2 style stock, featuring a well-concealed low-profile adjustment lever, and two QD sling sockets on either side. The stock also features an additional conventional sling slot for those who prefer the old ways. The stock attaches to a standard M4/AR-15 6-position buffer tube, which allows any aftermarket stock to be added if you fancy a change of pace.
The QD sling sockets are present on either side, with one at the front of the stock and one at the toe; giving you the option to add an aftermarket front sling point and a QD sling swivel to run a two-point sling. As part of its low-profile, snag-reducing design, the adjustment lever of the TS2 is a trigger-style button inside the toe of the stock, well out of the way of potential snags so you can stay fleet-footed, even when all geared up.
As with most rear-wired M4/AR-15 AEGs, the battery compartment is located inside the buffer tube and is accessible with the stock removed. To remove the stock, simply pull downwards on the tabs on either side and slide the stock off to the rear. Inside the buffer tube, you will see a Deans battery connector to which you mount your choice of battery. We recommend an 11.1V 1300mAh Stick battery for the M906A to take advantage of the high performance of the FALCON EFCS MOSFET. If you already have a similar battery with a mini-Tamiya connector you'll be happy to learn the M906A comes with a Deans to mini-Tamiya adapter!
On the inside, the M906A is very well equipped, keeping pace with other Double Eagle EFCS-equipped AEGs but pulling ahead in its full metal construction. The inner barrel is a 6.04mm tightbore example, promising improved accuracy at range and a slight FPS boost thanks to improved air efficiency. The gears are constructed from steel and run on 8mm ball-bearing bushings, producing minimal audible drama as the gun fires and providing reduced friction for a longer lifespan. All of the gearbox internals are Tokyo Marui version 2 spec, meaning upgrades are easily within reach for those who simply cannot use an AEG without upgrading it!
As previously mentioned, the M906A is rocking the awesome Double Eagle FALCON EFCS MOSFET offering programmable fire controls which allow for burst modes or binary trigger to be programmed in using the selector switch and trigger of the AEG itself (instructions can be found below, in the "Special Instructions" section). The FALCON also provides low voltage cutoff, preventing the AEG from being used when the battery voltage drops too low, and also allows you to select one of 3 different trigger sensitivity settings, from a hair trigger to a more realistic full pull. The trigger itself is a flat design which is great for pumping out those rapid semi-auto shots in CQB, made all the better by the astonishing trigger response provided by the FALCON.
Whether you're building it out into a fully-fledged DMR or using it to harass the enemy at long range as it is, the Double Eagle M906A will be an asset to any long range objective. With full metal construction and an extremely impressive internal feature set for the price, the M906A is a real beast of a primary for anyone who likes them long!
